Yeah, chief, that's not gonna work. I (as well as most pirates) pirate games and stuff precisely because I can't afford shit.
Them fighting the piracy will not make me buy their game, as I didn't have the money to do so in the first place.
But it will severely sour my opinion of the devs.

If a kid was able to get my geolocation address years ago with a sus link I opened then an advanced tool could do much more.
That doesn't really mean anything, it's trivial for scriptkiddies to find your geolocation once you click on their link. The hard part is to get you to click their link in the first place.
Not that I'm advocating for piracy but as long as you aren't careless and cover your tracks well it's pretty hard for them to catch you.

Also, counting every instance of piracy as lost profit is a common mistake. As piracy, just like stealing, occures in large part because people can't afford stuff legally, the prevention of piracy will not increase the profits in any substantial margin.

Edit: It may even result in losses, depending on the amount of money spent on fighting piracy.

Still, I think they still have a reason to ban people who does piracy

Not everyone who is downloading for free is like us (broke ass mtfs), some people actually can afford the updates without problems, but decide to download for free anyway

It's like the shop robberies that are occurring in the united States, a lot of people is stealing useless garbage, just because they think they are free to do so, even tho they could buy easily these things

But again, I am not against piracy, my childhood was held by piracy, most of my PS2 games are not official and most Brazilians were introduced to games like GTA because of piracy

So yeah, piracy is a hard subject to be seen, it's like gambling, it can work both as marketing for your game, but also as a way to make you lose money

Yeah, piracy is pretty much the only way for poor people to experience games/movies/other digital stuff.
Like, 60$ is almost a third of my salary, spending such money on a single game (talking about AAA) is lunacy.
And I haven't even mentioned prices for the hardware.

Software piracy is not theft, it's copyright infringement. Robbery and theft are infinitely worse than piracy because it always deprives the original owners of their material possessions.
On a side-note, does anyone else find it ironic how the devs banned a new subscriber, which was a former pirate, in the hopes that less people will pirate their game and subscribe to their patreon instead?

I have been baned...i dont know how to handle that. How do the know who share the link?
How?
Wait, don't tell me that you use on f95zone and on Patreon the same username and profile picture?
There is no way they connected the Patreon account with an account here unless you revealed it yourself

It's not just the devs but the discord members as well. They gather every possible clue on Patreon/Discord and possibly have an IP Address tracker. If a kid was able to get my geolocation address years ago with a sus link I opened then an advanced tool could do much more.
...I don't know how to tell you this but ... that's pretty easy to do
The hard part is actually making you click the fake link, with some people it's easier , with some, it's pointless.
And that's not even counting in that browsers and antivirus software informs you if you click on some of these links. They specifically stop you from connecting to them unless you confirm it again.
And people who know what they are doing read URLs,etc and have VPNs just in check.

Ip tracker...that made me laugh a little...while Discord likes collect data on users it doesn't share it for free and for cheap :)
They for sure don't have "advanced IP tracker" maybe not even a normal one. A free downloadable one, or a buyable one would be useless if you can't even get these IPs in the first place.
Any IP tracker can't magically track you, it's not a Watch Dogs game
Also a reminder they are making a porn game, not some expensive software.

I don't remember that admins/Devs have a way to see Discord server members' IPs
Obviously, they can't get IPs of accounts here
As for mega.nz ? It depends, maybe paid/subscription version of mega.nz gives you the ability to see download traffic and IPS that download your files.
But IPs from only one site are useless without more information
They already know that people download their game for free, so how should ability to confirm it and see it benefit them ,when they already knew it?

In short, they couldn't track you and ban you unless you literally shout to them "hey It's me"

Also, did everyone get so scared that they forgot about the Kemono? People posted there much more guarded things.

They banned him for sharing the game when he suscribed or simply because he played the pirated version?

We did not forget, but everyone wants the updates sooner hehe.
I also have another website where I can find the updates, but it takes them at least an extra week to update

Supported them monthly for a longe time before I got feed up on the ever expanding feature creep (routes) of the game. Maybe I just wait a year and subscribe for a month to see how much the overall plot has progressed by that time.

To be fair, waiting longer for updates is not a total bad thing, as now the updates we got will have a lot of "new content"

For me is pretty annoying playing the new update, choose 1 or 2 options and bang! *To be continued*

And if you ask, yes, I am coping

Ps: for the love of god, for the next person who will be our "anti hero", put a black fedora, some sunglasses and name yourself Heisenberg

Just want to make a point here that tools used to track someone's address don't even need links that I fell for in the past. I know for one after losing my account on PSN from hackers and they have taken a step to redeuce that with a 2 step verification code.

Just trying to be neautral here and warn anyone who does it cause I pity them when they don't really have much to gain from sharing it here and risk getting banned. Have a good day.

well, I can't afford it for the same reasons as mentioned earlier by the community, so this game will be on the forgotten games list for me.

Two things that should be noted is that Patreon is currently having a massive problems with payments. It’s mainly due to the system itself and also Patreon moving their banking system to Ireland. My latest payment was flagged by my credit union because it was charged in Dublin. Thankfully it got resolved quickly but not everyone is in the same boat as me. So in addition to bans, our hero might not even have access to the latest version due to payment errors.

The second thing is that Mega has also been experiencing trouble with downloads, especially download speeds, so even if our hero has access to the latest version they could not be able to download it.
