Alright, so for whatever reason I decided to try out
GIL - Giant insect Research Institute. I guess it just looked weird enough to try out. Evidently this game wasn't my kind of thing - which was expected.
To like this game you must have a... peculiar taste. Which is fine, nothing there.
I will try to make a review that isn't biased around the fact that I didn't like the H content, although it of course will play a role in rating the game.
I rarely give just 1 star, but this one deserved it. The game has no story - you play as a girl who is stuck in an area infected with large insects who wants to rape you. That's about it. From here you must make it out of the location. The location itself varies between office-like areas and warehouse type settings. This is one of the major negative aspects of the game: it look incredibly bland and all the areas look the same. It's the same color layout, more or less same setup and it's the same enemies too.
This makes it very hard to know what way to go. The game never provides you directions, most of the signs are in Chinese and it all looks the same. It's generally incredibly uninspiring to walk around in.
The H content too becomes repetitive. I only ever found two types of enemies; wasps and flies, and they act the same and do the same. This part is also not that interesting; you can struggle free and try to run. Though there is not really anything else to do. If you cannot escape then the insect will penetrate you and eventually make you pregnant - which then overtime brings you to giving birth to a smaller insect.
There's really not much to the game. So, if you like games with very little content, but with sneak/hide aspects and simultaneously are into insects, then this game is for you.
It didn't sway me.
To break it down for fast(er) reading:
The good:
- You might like this, if you have a fetish for insects.
The in-between:
- There's a pregnancy aspect, which is cool. But it is unfortunately quite shallow.
The bad:
- Bland art
- All locations look the same
- Few types of enemies and they act the same
- No story
- Very little content.
- No directions makes it hard to know where to go - especially considering how it all looks the same.
