Welp, this ended up being picked up out of my backlog, as I loosely remembered that the Goblin Strikes back game was decent and that the Succubus game after that was very fun. Given that, I figured that I couldn't go wrong with one of this dev's games, even if they have their issues.
Sadly, this game ended up disappointing me quite a bit. As some reviews already say, this game is basically a super stripped down Goblin Strikes back, with less depth on all possible levels. The first thing that is obvious right away is the fact that there's less heroines than in either of the previous games. It might seem like there's more animations per heroine, but that's not strictly true when compared to the succubus game, which had all those transformations shenanigans and whatnot. After that, the game has even less of a story than the previous games already did, and there's basically no "level story-telling" or the like. Or at least, not outside of the level 3 basement stuff anyway, but there's not that much going on with those either...
The game's biggest problem though is that its grind curve is much worse than the previous games and it's not that difficult to reach a point where you kind of just do the same thing over and over with no variation just to get the gold to repay the debt. The passive income is very bad and very slow to scale up, and there just isn't that much in terms of variety. Most of the maps are split into three areas that you can select to enter in, and they're mostly all about gathering resources with little in the way of actual puzzles. Even the level 3 underground maps, which have specific themes, quickly degenerate into "just fill up your stats with magic stones bub!".
As specific examples, there's the Tavern Map, which is basically just packed full of heroines and for the most part, you don't even have to fight the hardest of the lot, and then you get an artifact at the end. As long as you can build up attack and defense high enough to beat everything including the Ranger and Martial Artist for that level, you won't have any issues mainly clearing that map and getting the artifact at the end. There's also something like... 80-ish heroines packed in that map? So it's an easy one to go for if you're trying to up the ridiculous numbers you need to unlock all the animations...
I admit that I got bored of it myself and just edited a save to add more captured sluts and gold, just to see if repaying the debt does anything interesting... and of course it doesn't.
The achievements didn't tempt me either, and your upgrades around the base feel a lot more limited than the ones in the previous games. So eh.
All in all, this game feels like a major low point for this dev's career. Hopefully, the one after that is better. I'll want to jump in on that one eventually...
