The only thing I can think of is that you're using the numpad instead of the upper number keys. If that's not the case, then open the On-Screen Keyboard and click the numbers from there.

I thought I was also having that problem, and I thought the square icon was a key that hadn't loaded properly. It's a 0 and I'm stoopid. Anyway, I pressed 0 and it worked, hope it helps you too.

It's a little bit unintuitive, but what you actually have is part 3 of the 3 Wall 2 upgrades. You're missing part 1/3 and part 2/3.
Once you have all parts, they automatically assemble and unlock the relevant part.

Just a heads up, the save files do not carry over to the full game, so if you have a life and value your time, don't bother with it just yet.

I found that the A, Q, W, Z keys give free milk of different qualities. Are there other cheat code keys?

1) Drag goblin icon into either back or front row
2) Use the top/bottom/left/right buttons to select number of gobbos
3) Press yellow icon in the bottom right to confirm

Note that you'll need gobbos in both the front and back row to succeed.
