Ren'Py - Goddesses' Whim [v0.4.1] [Ncrow]

A game with really great visuals, decent gameplay, but terrible writing.

The models are beautiful, the scenery is pretty solid too (which is something often overlooked by devs). And the animations start quite good and get even better later on. If you're just here for a fap, you could definitely do worse than downloading this game and skipping all the dialogue. But if you care at all about writing then I've got some bad news.

The writing isn't just bad, it's very bad. First of all, there are a lot of mistakes in grammar, sentence structure, syntax, and word choice. It's clear this dev is not a native English speaker. But it goes beyond that, too. The dialogue is really bad, there's a lot of exposition that is very dull, there are a lot of moments where characters are basically thinking out loud and monologuing in a way that can get annoying and cringy. Also, I feel like I say this very frequently in my reviews for adult games, but I really get the sense that this Dev just... doesn't know how women talk. It's a shame because the setting is pretty decent, and some of the characters could have been really compelling if only they didn't sound like their dialogue was written by an A.I that only learned to talk from examining porn.

In a perfect world, this dev would hire a writer -- one who interacts with women in the real world -- to do all of the writing and dialogue for them while they focused on the art and world and just pushed the writer in the right direction. Also, this dev really needs to reduce the amount of times you need to repeat events to progress. Tedium is literally never fun in games like this so I never understand why devs make you talk to a character and repeat the same event 5 times in a row before something new happens. Trust me, dude, NO ONE enjoys chopping wood for 30 days just to earn enough gold and materials to build stuff. The minigames are solid, but they aren't good enough to warrant that much repetition.

TLDR; As I said, the visuals are great and it makes for a good fap, but if writing matters to you, you won't find it here.

Safe to the point of blandness SOL wish fulfillment game

This game uses every possible trope to strengthen the idea that you are utterly safe, infallible, and perfect here in this space created only for you. Being the only male and everyone in your general vicinity being your biggest fan are just the most obvious and egregious. Perhaps the writing evolves past "omg mc your handsome, u hav big dick, aaaaand so kind?!?!" but considering repeating the same event until the game takes pity on you is considered "progress" i highly doubt it.

Seeing as this review is for a game and not a collection of animations the story should carry the heaviest weight (otherwise dont waste time with story and just make animations) and with that in mind its below average

Nice story, incredible original characters, and amazing animations.
Easily some of the highest quality work I've seen on this site.
I could only count on one hand the games that could be compared to this.
Also one of the few devs I never had a single regret in financially supporting.
If there are any cons to this work in progress, I found them easy to look past given this isn't some mainstream super-professionally developed title.

It has ALL the ingredients for an excellent game, BUT needs to follow a better recipe....

Pros:

1. Probably the best koi renders and H-scene animations in this site. I'm not joking, I have played 100s of AVN and there's like 1 or 2 koi that remotely come close.
2. Music is pretty pleasing
3. Writing is decent for a lighthearted novel.
4. Characters are beautiful
5. I don't mind the white knight MC but there's a catch (check cons)
6. Sandbox and UI is clean.
7. Minigames are really fun and so smoothly executed.

Cons:

1. Pacing and plot needs a lot of improvement. Like, even if it's a lighthearted setting, we need some substance to make it seem MC is getting to know em. Repeating the same "hangout" event to increase love points till you bone them doesn't make for any storyline or any meaningful arcs.
2. Mc is a nice guy alright but you can't make him that and at the same time request lewd stuff from Lis when you do a job or something. That's completely different tone and breaks immersion.
3. Tone down the LIs or NPCs simping after MC. It gets very overwhelming and doesn't really make the plot shine. Like I don't even remember what the plot is or name of characters because they don't shine due to the fact that these issues take up the game's time.
4. Making LIs with different body shapes and sizes would be cool cuz currently almost all are busty (which I don't mind but I know others might).
5. Characters have little to no depth and are super one-note.
6. I personally don't like the only male MC in the existence tropes so here's that.

Verdict: It pains me to say this but I would hold off until cons are fixed because honestly this has potential to be one of the best koi games ngl.

I would rather you play that than this cuz at current state it's really good for fap but doesn't deliver the whole package (would you rather eat something that is tasty with various notes that ends your hunger or just chug gallons of sweet water to satisfy your hunger? - at current state it's only as good as one-note sweet water)

Some of the best animations I've seen, and a lot of cute girls. There's a pretty good story for those who focus on that, but I mostly enjoy winning all the girls over to your side. Good hints to prevent the player from getting confused on what to do next.

Pros
- Decent Story - I enjoyed the stories characters and premise
- Good characters and animations - really they are top notch
- Some humor

Cons
- Very repetitive atleast at the start, click the same places to see the same animation and gain affection until you can continue the story

I didn't complete the game but mostly because I didn't enjoy the repetitive tasks you had to do to raise affection and progress the story. The graphics, characters, and story I all found good but once the story is on pause while you raise affection I lost interest. If this was more of a VN I think I would have enjoyed it better. Gave it 4/5 because that was the only thing I didn't like and it's a good game that people should give a chance

Review 3.3.1 I've been following the game for a long time, so I have an honest opinion about the game.

You are the “COOL GUY” who dies in a truck and is reincarnated, with the help of a goddess, in a fantasy world and receives a strength that puts you above most. OP character?! Great, that's how I like it! Holy Trinity by MC Chad, "pure selflessness, huge dick, super powerful." It's kind of stupid when you're taken to the other world with just one hand in front and the other behind, with nothing to catch your attention. and with this level of OP everyone loves you almost immediately.

However, don't be fooled by the Holy Trinity of MC Chad, because here he is a total idiot with IQ = 0 and no brains, MC pussy, ruins everything. Girls always have to take the initiative because he is too scared to do so. This is so visible that sometimes I think this game has a soft femininity built in, I don't feel like Mc takes the initiative.

The MC could be more masculine and act like one because I'll always tell you he's a guy... of course, he doesn't need to be a 24-hour Edgelord but he also doesn't need to be an asshole!

I don't know why so many game developers use and abuse this outdated crap. Using humor and comedy is one thing, but humor is comedy at the expense of the character, it will never be funny! and insisting on this only shows the opposite, abuse!

The story is a little silly, very light... something for those who like light stories. and it is also very prolonged, as if it were a very slow narrative. So, you can wait a few minutes, grinding the items and the girls' affection, the latter is not difficult, after all the MC cannot be close to the girls, who automatically start wetting their panties almost instantly.

Everyone, even her grandmother, seems to really like MC for the sole reason that he's the only man around. For the main cast, they are the ones who instantly develop crushes. For random ones, they just show their breasts and other parts, inventing very convenient excuses to feel a man's touch.

So, you don't need to work hard to form your harem, sometimes this dryness of girls towards men, becomes unbearable. And to top off the misfortune, in dialogue with girl you can't tell them to go fuck themselves!

Great UI. Great models/designs.

Good music. For Koikatsu, great H scenes, definitely one of the best on the site. This game has a level of similarity to Hero's Harem Guild.

It seems that all the goddesses are women, so far where I play I haven't seen a male god. and they all do whatever they want, using you as a pawn in a board game, only keiko being the exception.

The girls, some are nice, others not so much.

Ryoko is basically a child mentally with the body of a teenager. and her past is a bit cliche and generic, if dev did all that to move me, unfortunately he couldn't.

Charlotte the Nekogirl is kind of annoying. That disgusting goddess that mc meets by accident when she goes to visit keiko by accident.

Another detail I forgot to mention, most of the bonding events with the girls, most of these events are extremely forced on you for the priceless good of the work's history. So, if you don't like that type of fetish, using me as an example; I'm not a big fan of Nekogirl. So, it scratches my itch wrong seeing the game force me into a bonding event with Charlotte and another Cat Girl of Sakura Town.

One thing to easily praise is the animations. Maybe some of the best I've seen in a Koikatsu game.

The girls and you (Player) have no agency, the MC tends to solve everything, as the girls are incapable of that. and this often leads to the girls taking advantage of the mc, and he becomes a boss.

So, finishing here... I try to understand the reason behind the high rating, however, after playing and following it for a while I can evaluate it as average. It's not a story and game that hypes you up right at the beginning, when you're more in favor of a dark and edge story, however, it's still a cool game to kill time when you have nothing to do.

Yes she has two personas depending on bloodlust, but even those two personas act totally different in the events than what the lore says they act like

Not much to say, just wanted to help push the rating up and echo the sentiment a bunch of reviews have already put forward that the animation work in this game puts every other Koikatsu-based AVN I've seen to absolute shame. It really is a must-play on that basis alone.

Played untill you reach the second village. I assume that this is at least 70% of existing content.

Pros:
- Other reviews mentioned that the animations seen in GW might be some of the best seen in KK based AVNs. I tend to agree. They are smooth, camera angles are well handled and there is good variety across the decent number of scenes available so far.
- I think that the village itself and especially the surrounding areas are well crafted. It looks like objects and assets were placed by hand and this was done well. The local area map is another good example. It is somewhat crude, but it is something that few other AVNs have.
- Most of the H-scenes that are not based directly on dumbass hentai tropes or just straight non-logic, have surprisingly good dialogue. A balanced mix of speech, sound effects and unvoiced narration. The sound effects themselves are not wildly over the top. And the scenes are roughly as short as can be, while you still don’t feel like getting rushed through the encounter. This is even more impressive considering that it is often clear that GW isn’t a native English AVN.
Mehs and hit/miss:
- Some dramatic and emotional moments in the opening felt rather awkward and forced.
- Naughty camera views are used extremely often. The novelty is gone. Feels cheap and distracting. Same with MC and people bumbing into eachother and ending in compromising positions. It isn't entertaining.
- MC is a white knight (not as bad as feared so far, but still).
Cons:
- Everyone and their grandma seems to be super into MC for no other reason than him being, you guessed it, the only male around. For the main cast, its them developing crushes instantly. For rando’s, they just flash their tits and other bits, making up excuses that are way to convenient in order to feel the touch of a male.
- Dialogue and situations in general are so heavily inspired by anime and hentai shows, that it outright feels like some parts of GW are copy-pasted directly over from said shows, with a few words and phrases switched out to match the setting and characters. Most of the heroines become incredibly predictable as a result or just end up annoying me personally.

So I guess I understand why there's a lot of snarky comments about it being yet another Isekei, yet more sandbox clickity grinding, etc. Yeah there are a lot of tropes.

But fuck ALL that, this is easily the BEST use of Koikatsu I've ever played. In terms of the positioning of the girls, the camera, and the attention to details of what actually makes for a sexy scene, it's all 10/10. In the hundreds of games I've DL'd from here, this is one of the very few I actually re-open just for opening the gallery to jerk off.

Sure I'm not a fan of clicking my location around and doing mundane mini games to inflate the length, but tbh when it comes to sex games it's nice to have the scenes feel at least a bit earned, and the grinding is minimal enough for now. And while the Isekai start cause the usual eye roll, my eyes quickly straightened when I saw how sexy the characters were and how much work was put into making them look unique and do more than just stand in basic poses.

I cannot stress how much the use of camera, character design, and posing, is lightyears ahead of the next best Koikatsu work I've played. I really wish more devs would use the whole buffalo so to speak when it comes to the sexy stuff. For being the entire reason to play these over other video games, it's amazing how few devs actually put the sexual elements front and center in terms of effort.

Also, the cumshots being multiframe complete with reactions/ahegao rather than just the standard 3 white flashes on a single frame is *chef's kiss* so thank you.

I really look forward to more updates and wanted to add my voice to those who really love the game so far. Even if no improvements were made to the other elements I'd still play the whole thing for the girls and sex alone. Keep it up

Excellent models and the animations and scenes are some of the best on the site. It could really use a gallery mode and maybe less grinding but so far it's excellent. I really wish more games had animations as good as the ones in the game, with camera movements and changes in expressions for the girls.

This game has good reder like out of touch game and hero's harem guild.
The girls look very cute and beautiful, especially the goddess. The scenes are also good especially the standing sex lol, I hope dev makes more of those scenes.

If you ask if there is incest, I think maybe it will come in future updates, because we have already been shown that mc's mother is still alive and lives in the same world. Honestly I really hope there is incest lol.

What a fun game. It took me a while to try the game, but then couldn't stop until I had found all the scenes. I enjoyed the developing relationship with all the characters and the animations are very good. The game has a good balance of plot with plenty of H scenes.

The girls are so cute and sexy that they almost healed my needs for hardcore tags, specially Hana, HANA IS PURE SEX, but I like them all
The protag is nice too, despite being a kirito clone, he actually reacts like a normal man when a girl offers sex, but he is a bit too much of a perfect harem protag to immerse yourself as him (pure altruism, huge dick, super powerful, etc...)

Really like the story, dialogues, and the animations so far. The characters are all funny, likeable and wholesome.
I really think the best sex scenes are the one when you take your time for them to come and also don't make them 1 or 2 short loops that are default animations in Koikatsu. This games always feels like you watch a scene you've never seen before.

Writing improved. It doesn't retroactively fix anything and the developer hasn't fixed much prior issues I had with the writing in the prologue but the game is a 4/5 at this point undoubtedly. This review is outdated. I think the new village really shines despite the low amount of story content. It has a lot of scenes which the developer uses really well to expand the characters which most games don't.

I still feel the writing is a bit too wish-fulfilling but it's a feels-good game. I think anyone who enjoys those types would love it. This game is one of the best on the site in art and it uses Koikatsu. Think about that.

TLDR: Simple game to play - have fun. Turn your brain off. Looking for a good story? Not the best but compared to most on this site - it's good. One of the best Koikatsu games on the site for sure. Harsh rating is due to the developer being able to do better.

MC solves everything (typical Isekai).

Things are stupidly convenient.
The writing is horrible but what can you expect from a porn game. The slave troupe in Isekai is always poorly written and always a writer's fantasy for an obedient woman for the MC.

Example: Ryoko is basically a child mentally and the writing is poor so it feels weird she has this affection for MC after a single "nice" event when realistically it wouldn't happen.

Player has no agency. There are single-choice scenes which shouldn't occur, just make it linear. "Failing" isn't really possible. It's not a true sandbox. There's not really alternative paths or much to explore. Everything is handed to you like a baby. MC doesn't have any real struggles.

I expected more from the developer based on the UI and models honestly. Hopefully they get a writer to assist them because they are talented in many areas. They also need a game designer because as a game this isn't really that great. It feels more episodic and the player is always forced/confined. It's not a true sandbox.

It always tells rather than show you. A slog intro should have more agency. In the future, I think this should improve

Goddesses' Whim is very much one of those comfort harem games. It's your very standard isekai power fantasy really. You're the nice guy who dies to a truck and is reincarnated, with the help of a goddess, into a fantasy world and given strength that puts you above most. Also, everyone more or less loves you right away. You have seen this all before.

Thing is, this game isn't necessarily trying to be more than it is. It's focusing on the fact that it's a comfy and causal sandbox with cute girls, and playing into that well. There's a serviceable plot, but in no way is this a super complex game. It's more lewd focused than anything.

That's all well and good, but what truly sets this game apart from others is in its quality. No joke, this may be one of the best Koiktasu based games I've played in terms of detail. In almost every scene the girls are very animated (as in feeling alive). Facial expressions, moving around as they talk, and just a lot of small cute details that would take forever to list.

The game truly shines when focusing on the love interests (which it does a lot). I was a bit worried at first on how every girl almost immediately wants a piece of you, but all the characters have a nice amount of personality to them. None are incredibly in-depth, but most still are very endearing and loveable. There's tons of cute events with them which is just my jam personally.

The actual animations/sex scenes themselves deserve a whole section of praise on their own. Actually amazing, truly might be the best of any Koikatsu game I've played. All custom with different poses and angles that when combined with the cute love interests, make for very hot sex scenes. Also want to mention that this is one of the few games out of hundreds that have offered me an alternative scene to footjobs instead of just skipping it and getting nothing. As someone not into feet, that was really nice.

Now If you despise sandbox games this might be a harder sell for you. It's not perfect. While nothing egregious, there's some grind the gets repetitive pretty fast. Collect wood, fish, get money, the standard really. I cheated this time around because I didn't feel like doing the minigames.

One of my complaints was how you had to repeat a lot of the same events to raise affection, but that has been improved in later content. There's now more unique scenes that award affection points so that you don't have to repeat and repeat again. Early game could use some more of those. I think my only other real complaint is that the MC is a little too isekai nice guy standard. To the point where it's sometimes annoying and/or uninteresting. I could delve into smaller issues, but this is already a long ass review.

Returning to this after nine months, I still really like this and even enjoyed it more this time around. You liking this game depends on what you're looking for. Are you into easygoing harem games and don't mind sandbox? This is a really nice one. If you're looking for something a bit more engaging or deeper, you won't really get that here.
