If someone can come up with good original game mechanics, then it would be more rational to make a game without porn. There will be a larger audience. This is probably why there are almost no of them here, only those who really want to make a porn game.

Just the novelty for the game engine is already enough to make them want to target a bigger market. Reason why RPG Maker games and Ren'Py ones tend to all feel the same. If you're good enough to overpass the limits of those game engines, you generally want the whole world to witness it, not just a bunch of pervert that will perhaps not even notice it.

Indie Games that are smaller and simpler are unlikely to be Viable on the Indie Market.
The Competition is Merciless and you need to be on top of your game, especially for the production value that increases in demands over time.
Try making a Slay the Spire clone and see how well that works out for you.
Porn Games with actually Gameplay can do reasonably well with a more limited scope and ambition.

Sure if you are confident with your game you can become massively successful with it, but for the 90% of the games that come out that don't even break even Porn Games are a potential opportunity that shouldn't be dismissed.

The actual reason we don't see as much Porn Games here is more of a consequence of the Assets. Daz, Honey Select, Koikatsu that fits more Visual Novels so that's what "adult developers" do, very few have experience with actual 3D models and game engines.
But developers could get creative with how they use those assets if they try.
Of course selling on Steam would also be a limit with those assets. Maybe AIs will change things as they are a diffrent type of assets.

The gigantic problem with most gameplay is that it doesn't serve the core experience I come to porn games for. Long form erotica storytelling where I have agency.

I would vastly prefer to have games with significantly more gameplay, but only of that gameplay loop is designed to feed the loop of erotic tension that I come to porn games for.

Issue is that most games have sex locked behind gameplay. Similar to sidescroller beat em ups where you've gotta clear waves of enemies before you're able to walk further.

If you're skilled/creative enough to turn your gameplay into porn, then good, go for it.

Seems like you're misunderstanding completely. I'm referring to interactive porn. Gameplay can be weaved with pleasure rather than being forced to complete a task/quest to gain access. A good example was breeding season where the core mechanic was about sex and the rest of the mechanics were dependent on it. It's why it had a massive following among the furries and why so many devs replicated it.

Then nobody will feel like they're 'forced to complete a task/quest' to get to the fun part, because they will enjoy doing those tasks/quests.

You're looking for a porn game because you're inherently also looking for gameplay either with integral porn or with porn as the reward. If you didn't want to bother with gameplay and want to get to the porn, you'd just look up porn!
