Others Good site to license music?

Hey guys, in the search of royalty free music with vocals to use for my project, i have found that there are not a ton of royalty free songs with vocals (not surprising, to be honest).

I was looking into licensing songs instead, and while I know a lot of sites have a hate boner for pornographic content, I know Premiumbeat and Tribe of Noise allow it. However, Premiumbeat is DEFINITELY premium and Tribe of Noise has a terrible site and not a very good selection. Does anyone know any NSFW friendly alternative sites to these two?

I made a post scouring the interwebs for music in the dev subforum (image below), there aren't many with a good selection, and that's still probably being generous. Just to correct you a tiny a bit here, PremiumBeat does not allow adult content. Tribe of Music never got back to me. ToM's public domain/Creative Commons site, FreeMusicArchive, does however. 90% of MTC's music is from FMA.



The best of the 'cheaper' options is far and away StockMusic.net and TunePocket. However, their selection is rather light and you have to sift through a lot of trash to get the good stuff (Same goes for the aforementioned FreeMusicArchive. Lot of good stuff, lot of garbage.).

The best ones are Universal Production Music and AudioNetwork, but you're looking at $2000+/year for either. One not listed here is SoundCloud. There's some surprisingly decent stuff (especially within rap/trap/etc.), but you've gotta be really careful using it. Triple check that the person who uploaded it is the artist, and if you're at all uncertain, then message the artist. Then screenshot both the message and the license given on the song page.

If you choose to use CC-BY stuff, screenshot all of it and keep it in a folder. Many artists have no idea what they're doing with their music once they put it into the creative commons. Many will try to remove it when they get signed (or the label will) or realize they didn't want to give it away for free for commercial use and pretend like it never existed. CC-BY licenses are irrevocable and that screenshot stands as proof that you were given both express permission and license to use the song commercially. Cover your ass.

There is also purple planet. It doesn't state on their license info that it isn't allowed with lewd content so i assume its ok.
It's free but not a lot tracks.

It's heavily YouTube based with no clear license for outside commercial uses or in any game-level usage. This tends to be a dead giveaway that the company has very little idea about what they're doing. It's not free, either. Not for what we want to use it for.

You'd probably be looking at a broadcast license, at which price, there's better options.

Honestly, i don't know. I never thought about it either.
Scores are really hard to make unless you buy a cheap keyboard and make your own which i think is a realistic option. You don't have to be Wakeman to create some score on a Yamaha.

There is one game that uses scores from that site. I think it was Light of my Life.

could also be worth adding to the list as a free source. They don't state anything specific about adult content, just mention that it's worth contacting each artist separately. And afaik they allow commercial use as well. Size-wise, if we count all artists, they have huge library.

All the music in Tribe of Noise Pro, the "professional" site of FreeMusicArchive project is included under CC 3.0 (for those songs added before 2014) or CC 4.0 (for tracks added after 2014, vast majority) and don't seem to have any additional limitation. Aren't all CC 3.0 and 4.0 mostly safe to use for erotic fiction if nothing specific is added to the license?

Generally, yes. All of the creative commons licenses are typically safe outside of the NonCommercial/NonDerivative licenses. So, CC 1.0/2.0/3.0/4.0 (1.0/2.0 are largely considered dead, and 3.0 seems to be heading that way soon as well.) and/or ShareAlike are all allowed for adult/NSFW usage.

Any site offering these specific licenses and claims otherwise is full of shit. This is an irrevocable license, which means they can't take it away. Which is why I put a lot of emphasis on screenshotting the license of the music I use in case the artist gets signed and the label tries to take it away/file a DMCA toward you.

It's generally a non-issue since most sites (like Storyblocks, for example) use their own custom license that fits their ToS/Terms of Use. But a website like Pixabay, which was generally known as a "Public Domain" service recently changed their license for the assets being used, no longer allowing any adult content. If you can prove that the upload of the audio track too place before their license change, then you're good. But it's just a mess to deal with at times. Such is the world of copyright and trademarking, though.

Dlsite - you have to pay but it is irrevocable copyright free and more often then not any kind of credit free. Audio was made essentially for japanese visual novels [often porn ones] and then are resold on DLSITE as a "bonus" for the creators.

Its a bit of scouring and downloading demos.
