Especially when ur switching engines mid project when ur already making low progress using the easier to use engine like this dev is.Sorry, but Renpy >>> Godot
It sucks that he changed the engine. hopefully someone can do a renpy port.
Sometimes it's an unfortunate need, like with Flexible Survival needing to port over to Godot from Inform because it can't handle the sheer size of the game very well anymore.Godot is a good engine, if you don't spend 3 years making your game in... not Godot.
Switching mid-project is never a good idea.
The engine isn't bad.As I predicted (and some people dared say Godot isn't a bad engine at the time), the switch to a bad engine is stupid and has potentially just killed this beautiful and amazingly detailed game. What a shame.
RenPy handles games with phat assets fairly well, just look at some VNs with tons and tons of 3DCG. It's the more fancy features that may cause trouble.Sometimes it's an unfortunate need, like with Flexible Survival needing to port over to Godot from Inform because it can't handle the sheer size of the game very well anymore.
I'm not sure that's the case here though.
BADIK is a great example of that, and last I checked, this game wasn't even remotely close to that kinda size.RenPy handles games with phat assets fairly well, just look at some VNs with tons and tons of 3DCG. It's the more fancy features that may cause trouble.
Yes. Think of it as a beta tester update. So the update is worthless atm ?
I don't typically play 3DCG games, but even I know of a couple examples. Pale Carnations is over 8GB.BADIK is a great example of that, and last I checked, this game wasn't even remotely close to that kinda size.
it was lacking some basic functions even in renpy like proper integrated scene replay gallery with unlock optionWelp, looks like this one is going on the backburner for now. Hopefully in a few updates (if they're managed to iron out the bugs and add back in the basic functionality they lost when they ditched Ren'Py) I might check it out again.
A real shame, this was one of the better ones...
