a "skip to new content" option would be extremely appreciated...

anyone got a save right before the v9.0 stuff begins? any path would be fine

Do you actually pay the dev? You expect a game to be done quickly by indie game devs? Because that's unreasonable to do so. This isn't Ubisoft or EA.
This isn't Fallout or Assassins Creed either. Just a plain adult VN with a few animations. Every second indie dev here, as soon as their project becomes more or less popular, starts artificially delaying updates just to make more money. And thanks to people like you, they don't even have to make up excuses. Ubisoft, lmao.

your saves are incompatible with this update as the dev made the idiotic choice to change the engine from ren'py to godot (and all it was really for was to add pointless animations to the game, since a porn game doesn't need them to be good, LoSeSb being a good example)
also your saves are now located at C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Goodbye Eternity\saves
Whats LoSeSb?

Whats LoSeSb?
Love and Sex: Second Base, another game. The game is huge and really fun, but it has basically no animations; the nearest of that would be static frames following each other to give you an idea of action.

and all it was really for was to add pointless animations to the game, since a porn game doesn't need them to be good, LoSeSb being a good example
I mostly agree with that. I do agree that animations aren't necessary for a good game, but they do add some value.
They don't justify changing the engine, though. The level of animation that Goodbye Eternity shows could be easily handled by Ren'Py, through ATL. And even if it wasn't, the hurdle associated with mid-project engine change more than overcompensates any value brought by animations.

I personally0 like the idea of the engine change the game never really worked well for me on renpy it felt sluggish. this new engine seems to be nice and runs really well. but it should not have released in such a state this shit crashes every few frames for me its literally unplayable. losing my saves sucks but i was kinda fine with just replaying it but man this game is beyond broken at the moment

I thought the game was fine and didn't mind animations so long as I'm able to cleanly skip through them because not being able to cleanly go through the content I've already seen in a game makes the game kind of punish you with a slog to get back to the game. Dev can do whatever and I wish them the best of luck, but as others have said before there is a trap people fall into where they can end up spending so much time overhauling the basic game system or overly "tweaking" existing content so much that the game's forward development dies dead in the water.

Hope it works out! Really enjoyed the last time I played it and I've been hoping to see it pop back up for a while.

EDIT: Wow, I just opened it up and these are not simple animations. It seems clear the Dev made a change to better fit their passions. This is melting my cutting edge laptop and not a big appeal to me, but very impressive and full assed.

I tried to get Asami's friendly and non sexual route but can't get it. It says it was added an thus I conclude I'm as dumb as a rock. So if someone could explain to me what needs to be done I would be grateful. Maybe I skipped a line while fast clicking through the story idk.
Oh another thing to throw into the pile of problems!
I did so too. Since my original playthrough was full love path, went with the friendship in this one.

Got me real surprised when I saw option of sleeping with her, even more so when I had to break up with her xD

what a FANTASTIC idea to switch engines from something runs on everything even a toaster to only select hardware.
Don't switch engines --> game can't be run on most android devices anymore soon enough (if you want to know why, read the developer's comments on why he switched the engine)
Switch engines --> game can be run on any hardware from within the last decade, but not on toasters anymore

And guess what: there are more ppl. playing this game on android than on toasters.

Guess what Renpy can run on that you just mentioned? :geek:
Of course (some) Android devices are able to run Ren'Py games, even this game -- that's why I suggested you should read the dev's comments about why he wouldn't be able to provide any more Android versions with later versions anymore.
