Well, what can I say... Great game, I guess ?

It has been a long time that a game has been stuck in my head (last one has been Once in a Lifetime). It's hard to explain, but it actually made me emotionally invested in this little world and the characters, and after finishing it up to the latest update (v0.8.1), it kinda left me feeling missing something.

Like that weird feeling of emptiness after finishing an anime, and you have to leave this world behind because the story has been told, and there's nothing waiting for you anymore.

I know it's not over yet and there will be some more updates after this review that will continue the story/World/Characters, so that can wait...

1. Story/World

The Story is nothing new, I have played at least 4 games with a similar premise (Guy's a loser, no family/Friends left, dies, gets another chance, you get it...), but even tho the concept is old, the execution is done pretty well. The more I've played, the more it felt like I have to use this second chance and make the right choices, because the consequence would hurt the people I care for the most. I was actually invested.

And the World is just... beautiful, the warm colors, the vibe... with so many little details, like these sceneries are made with so much love and care, it's just nice to see

2. Renders/Animations

The Characters just look absolutely gorgeous, like high quality, nice proportions, not so much cookie cutter bullshit like some of the other games on this site, I mean even tho I usually don't like milfs (blasphemy !!!!), in this game even the older lady's looked sexy too me, noriko is still my favorite (small boobs for the win).

The animations are also superb, I mean perfectly smooth, no PNG loop, different poses/stages, actual creampies and no bullshit white flash (only once, and I'm still mad).

Nice.

3. Characters

I liked the characters I'm supposed to like, and hated the characters I'm supposed to hate, so that worked great

The background stories of most characters are simple but interesting nonetheless, the dialogue is good, i mean it's still an erotic game i don't expect any Shakespeare stuff.

The "Quest system" is easy to understand, no need for an external walkthrough, which I always appreciate.

Why no 5 Stars ?

Even after praising this game so much, it's still not perfect, maybe it's just my own expectations/fetishes interfering, but I think even tho the sexscenes themselves are great, the way we achieve them fells a bit rushed or almost "unearned".

For example, after fixing our relationship with our mom, and we start to show more than platonic affection to her, 20 minutes later, and we are fucking her in all positions imaginable. It just felt a bit rushed for me.

Another example and the most annoying (for me at least) is the slow (but perfect) process of repairing the relationship with our sister and fixing the mistakes of our past (future?) self. Just as we start to understand what went wrong, just as the ice starts to melt, all of a sudden she dares us to fuck her and the first time with her is just a quickie pressing her against the closet

In my opinion, the first time would have fit much better after the cute scene at the bus station where she opens up herself to us, and we reconcile, but maybe I'm just too romantic IDK


Last words...

One of the best games in the last few years for me, gorgeous girls, beautiful scenes with a good attention to detail, healthy amount of humor, a bunch of Happy moments, sad moment's, hot sex scenes, and some good friends

maybe the points I have criticized will be fixed with some magical update in the future, and if that happens, I will happily give this game 5 stars.

I played v0.8.1

Art was quite good, but the story and gameplay were repetitive and boring for me. I can see how others rate it quite well, but it just didn't do much for me, personally. Overall, I just found it somewhat unremarkable.

Giving this game a rating was a bit weird for me.

On one hand the designs of the cast, the art and the animations are great and are worth it for this alone.
On the other hand there's everything else.

Like many games on this site the writer has no knowledge of how to write sex scenes and rely pretty much entirely on the art to make them satisfying. There's very little attempt to describe anything that's happening in a sexy way - or in any way for that matter - and so they are often over before you know it. Words are sexy, people! If I wanted to just watch sexy art I'd go to rule34!

As for the rest of the writing, it really does feel like something an edgy teen would write. Sort of a depressing revenge plot that makes no sense with people dedicating far too much effort to ruin the life of a single loser. Although unlike other stories of this kind it never really gives you this satisfying moment where you win against the bad guys and stop being a loser. It's more like your girlfriends and chad friend do it for you. So you're still a loser, but the girls find it endearing.. I guess.

Lastly the "gameplay". There's no reason this game needs to be a sandbox experience. It offers nothing. All missions happen in an order, you can't do multiple paths of multiple LI's at the same time. Both the stats and money are there for specific points in the story and since there's only one quest at any given time, once you reach a roadblock there's nothing to do beside grinding what ever it is you need. This game would have been massively improved as a simple visual novel experience. At least it would reduce the amount of unneccesary clicking around.

Side note: The sister. Saying her story makes 0 sense is a massive understatment. She abuses us to an insane degree, but it's all for our sake? She wishes you were dead because you contribute nothing financially to your hurting mother, but she wastes thousands of Yen in order to have you beaten up? I was seriously dying to know what it was that our character did to make her hate us so much and how we would redeem ourselves, it was the only interesting part of the game for me. And if there was no reason, how are we gonna punish her for all this abuse. But the payoff is so insanely lame it made the whole game feel like a bigger waste of time then it already was.

Gameplay: 3/5, standard VN/Sandbox gameplay with a clean package. Only issue lies with the classic-sandbox pitfall of too many intertwined paths leading to some feeling short during development. One issue is that characters don't disappear from there spots when doing story quests, not huge but mildly annoying.

Story: 4/5, genuinely intriguing story with a basic premise that words. However, the biggest issue is how under-fleshed certain routes feel while some are extremely long.

Art: 5/5, phenomal art with live2d(?) animation in some scenes.

Overall: 3/5, interesting, but it does seem to fall into some sandbox classic issues, like underused stats that are only used for unlocks and not checks, railroading certain paths and so forth. Not bad, but definitely check the gallery in advance to see what path is more fulfilling for you.

dunno, im feeling like leaving my review in the forum also, just to leave some positive vibes.

wanted to write a small love letter to this game. I nearly finished the game in one sitting (Ooooh, just how much i love the mother/milf characters. Im really excited to see Asamis and Sakuyas mothers...)
But many bad reviews here just took my motivation to do so, so... it will be shorter one:

I love the art. It is so beautiful and unique i absolutely fell is love with it. while playing i constantly wished: "i hope there is going to be tons of content and that i will be able to keep playing." Its amazing.
Characters.. i mean.. storytelling is hard if you dont have experience and time to think about fleshing them out (i imagine the dev draws most of the stuff himself. where do you find the time to think about great story plots while keeping up with release schedules). So using cliches are absolutely fine in my opinion. Sure some things felt rushed storywise (Sakuyas and sisters sex scenes)the build was there, just didnt feel satisfying, but bruh.. its totally ok.
In the end its just supposed to be a +18 game. yo can feel in the art that the dev cares a lot for the game. most of the pictures are so beautiful and probably took a loooot of time, work and love (i read in his discord that he draws himself) so im totally grateful for the dev creating this game and his efforts.

and also i dont care for the stats and money. im also the type of player who likes to minmax but if the dev doesnt see any function so far, who am i to lower the review stars because of random stats? (still i would love my stolen money back, i collected all "treasures" and wasted time on it) its cool that they got implemented. they will surely have some function later on...

i was thinking of putting this games signature banner in my signatures but i couldnt find any banners unfortunately.

also.. ppl may hate me for saying that but i sincerely wished that this game had netori scenes (avoidable/with warnings of course).. like that scene in the hotel with the 3rd dosis or the blackmail scene in your own room.. it was so close.. so close that i could already envision it.. but looks like dev doesnt like ntr or the community would react negatively on it.. which is a huge shame honestly.. anywayssss

on a final note... the mothers here all look so goddamn hawt.. wow.. i really need some content for them.. so, so hawt..
the time elapse scene in ***'s bedroom was just.. pure perfection.. absolutely loved it, thank you for that dev...

Review of version 0.8.1

Overall the game is really good but there are a few things that I think hold it back. First the art and animations are really good and is the biggest boon of this game. Second the characters are are interesting and well written, apart from the antagonists though they haven't been fleshed out too much yet. The few issues I have; money and skills having no use, a lot of the days are coasted through (event-> skip time -> next day-> repeat), and a few of the events are a bit disjointed. These can all be attributed to a currently unfinished game so I wont be too critical of those issues. Lastly at some point you lose all your money and although you get a huge sum of money back. it being a fixed sum makes getting all that money in the first place a complete waste of time and a waste of all the secrets found. Though money has no use yet and it doesn't really matter it really doesn't feel good.

Great art but below average story. The routes are like fetch quests. Especially the maledom routes. The mc acts and feels the same in the different routes. The mc mostly acts as a passive presence instead of a active one.

Fantastic game plot and conversations. They feel natural compared to similar +18 games. The meaningful choices provided are very limited, but the fact that they integrated them at all is already insane. Nice Job

Visuals

I have much to say about this game. It is beautiful. I really like the animations. The UI is smooth and very appealing.

But that's where the good things end...

Gameplay

Despite the great looks this game doesn't have much to offer. Not only from a storylines, but from a gameplay too. I do not understand why add money and stats if you don't use this mechanics. If it's just to be like everyone else than why add them in a first place. It would be so much better if we could utilize the stats to make different choices e.g. choosing a maledom path with Noriko using confidence or strength, or charisma for a corruption path with Asami.

Sitting there and trying to find all the places with money is an interesting idea, but why? Only place where money is used is in the beginning when you can give ALL of it to Yasuka. And you don't have a choice, the MC just does that.

Much like with stats money could be a very promising mechanic. But both of them are, for the lack of different words, useless.

Characters

Characters are a handful of cliches that are beautiful, but cannot offer meaningful interactions. They are created only as a playtoy for MC (not a player). They have stupid reasons for acting like they do and most of the time they don't even have a consistent personality. It is best shown in the latest updates (0.7 and 0.8).

I will briefly say that MC is boring not only because of his cliche backstory but also his looks. He is plain as boiled cabbage. And his yellow eyes don't make a difference. He isn't likable, he isn't interesting, he doesn't offer much and his personality shifts so much in scenes. I would be much happier playing any other male character from this game. Akira and Minato, despite being antagonists, are much more likable and interesting, though their reasoning for acting the way they do is questionable. And by the way what is the problem of showing MC's sprite naked? It is just very otherworldly seeing a naked girl near a guy in trunks.

I played this game two times: firstly, I played choosing Love path for both Asami and Yasuka, and they offered a unique playthrough, than, I played their corruption path (by the way paths are chosen by clicking one button, but i will talk about this later) and it was as unique as Love paths and i liked it. But then a Sakuya and Noriko storyline came.

Your previous choices lead up to the same things. Both Asmai and Yasuka (and Noriko in the Sakuya story) act the same way and say the same stuff. For some reason Yasuka doesn't act like an obsessed [over MC] lunatic and takes her previous personality of a caring mother. And Asami finds a middle ground between being her past self and rejecting her new self DESPITE of the path. The way she calls MC "My love" while she is in her tomboy phase is just lazy.

Noriko's storyline is stupid. Well maybe not the storyline, but the reasoning behind her actions. Acting like a brat, making stupid decisions, that made a boy who you fell for miserable is just not the reasoning I was hoping for. It sounds more like a lazy excuse just not to think hard enough. And with a teaser of continuation of femdom path one can only wonder how they will give this reasoning for different Noriko.

I won't say anything about Sakuya. People before me made really good points about her and the storyline. I will only add one thing. When her storyline begins the prompt is written "Sakuya restricts your movement" but, unfortunately it was done from the beginning.

Story

One of the reviewers [@Simp Cattu] said a really good thing " ...it's like a badly written powerplay fantasy of a teenage boy ..." And I couldn't say it more perfectly myself. There is no good storytelling in this game. Things just happen, most actions don't have consequences. And if they have it is quickly solved by Makumba and/or the gang of fangirls.

Setting

In my opinion setting, chosen for this game, other than naming some things like in manga or anime, or visuals isn't used as well. This story could have taken place in every part of the world. Saying "konbini" instead of "convenience store" doesn't make the setting more japanese. It's just make it derogatory.

Choices

When you create such a game and you offer people an option of choosing an action or line of dialogs, most of them are supposed to be somewhat meaningful. Even if it changes one line of dialog. But here 80%-90% of choices don't do a thing. The best example is Sakuya's storyline where we have an option not to free Akira, but the game just refuses. You have to play a perfect story as it was intended.

This game gives you an illusion of choice, just to trick you into thinking that you mean something to this world and characters. But actually this game is as straightforward as it can be.

NSFW scenes

I will say it now. I really enjoy sex scenes in this game. They are beautifully animated. I like the slight change in poses. But that's it. Last updates (0.7 and 0.8) added scenes that had great visuals but that lacked meaning e.g. Sakuya on a springs (the second one of the floor) just strats out of nowhere. It feels rushed. And by the way, she said she is a virgin and then just went on full length in all of her holes. Why?

Noriko's scenes just start the same way. MC rushes to talk to her and is so distracted by naked Noriko and of losing his dominant position that he just starts having sex with her. No teasing, no preludes and absolutely no meaning beside just giving you sex scene.

Future

This is just my speculation

I don't remember who it was, but some user on this site made a great statement "most games just try to be just like another popular game with mother/daughter harem" and i believe that this is what is happening with Goodbye Eternity. Adding Asami's Mother and Mentioning Sakyua's Mother that "soon will be released from prison" just solidifies this claims. This game just tries to create a mother/daughter harem for MC.

Conclusion

I have a Love/Hate relationship with this game. Despite not liking a lot of things about this game I still wait for new updates just to be disappointed about the story. I try to justify many, many things about lacking sides of this game. I will be playing this game in the future and wait that at some point it will be better. This game had so much potential. So much it could be. But unfortunately we got what we got.

I have came back to the game when the game was in its early stages and it was like 0.1 or smth, and tbh, the story was kinda refreshing including the sex scene lmao. That ending though why leave a cliff hanger like that. Though I wouldn't spoil the story, I like to say the game is well design and the story is really good. I'll be looking forward to this game in the future!

Absolutely incredible game. The art is amazing. The animated sex scenes are very hot. The story is interesting and just the right amount of dialogue. The pace of the story is great and I can't wait to see what comes next! Highly recommended.

The worst part is clearly the bad story and the dumb, boring characters, the writing is actually pretty much okay. Which is a real shame because if the writing was worse then I could have dropped this shit earlier, wouldn't spent so much time playing it. But this is a tricky one, it deceives you with the beautiful art and decent writing.

Despite the great artwork its not even good for mindless fapping, there're too much grind and pointless dialogs for too little erotic content. And although it's a sandbox game it's mostly linear, there're some meaningful(?) choices but otherwise you progress linearly with the story and the love interests.

Very good game. It's best strength is the art, and it doesn't drag on at all. Decent amount of sex scenes with a variety of very fleshed out girls. My only gripe is more of them should be POV. The story might seem a bit convoluted and even like some girls have no content, but oftentimes to get to some girl's next content you first have to progress in another girl's quest line.

Story is a bit repetitive, the author seems to have only 1 method of creating tension and drama, but the individual relationship progression with each girl is good. I was surprised by how good they were - Sakuya, Yasuka, Asami, Noriko all had satisfying development with the mc in terms of getting closer and more intimate, with complementary scenes. Also very much looking forward to getting to know Asami's mom and Sakuya's mom in future updates.

Pretty Goodbye! One of the best looking games here! Gameplay is fine and the grind is mostly ok. I hope this Dev keeps up that amazing piece of art and don't become a scammer like dark cookie. I will continue to support him!

This is one of those sandbox games that is a kinetic novel in disguise. I thought you'd be able to go around town and interact with events in the order of your choosing but that's not how this game plays out. The premise is cliche in that you're a loser who gets granted a magical second chance and gets transported into your own body approximately 30 years before you meet your demise. The MC then begins the game by saying he no longer wants to be a wimp and wants to change the future. Well, the game fails to deliver on this as the MC pretty much stays mostly a wimp throughout the entire story.

This is one of those games where you're pretty much forced into sex scenes whether you want it or not. You have to go through each girl's route one by one before you can access another girl's route. The game is filled with extremely one sided characters. And they are quite extreme. Either the villains do very heinous things such as condoning murder and rape or the love interests themselves wish death either upon you or your loved ones. There's even one scene where you're given a choice to free an antagonist or not and if you choose not to free him, the game says you can't do this and forces you to choose the other option. As soon as you free him, he decides to try and rape your girlfriend. The MC, the wimp that he is, confronts him but lets him go scott free. The decisions and actions of both the villains and the love interests are so highly contradictory that it makes liking them difficult.

The game is just plagued by bad writing all over the place. For instance, the MC remembers his past well enough to try and do something to change his future. But there are parts in the story where he just suddenly doesn't remember his past which makes for horrible writing. Let's not forget to mention that without the patch, the story makes little sense as well.

The only good thing about this game is that the art is nice. The animations are very basic and rudimentary. But there's other games out there with just as good art, but much better dialogue, characters, and plot.

4.5 stars with 144 reviews, of course I'll play this. Welp, don't always believe everything you see, because this is not a 4.5 star game. The characters are shallow and uninspiring to know. My best friend treats me like an ass, and I am just licking it up. Don't say 'fu$k off' to my nasty step-sister because she will be even meaner, that is until I give her the old finger bang within 10 minutes of the story opening. How about I change my wimpy ass into a real stud by training with the really muscular African American guy who likes music. I'll grind that and so many other stats all the while getting the same scenes during each instance of grinding. I love it when my lewd novels are a chore. It makes me put my wiener back into my pants and do some other boring chore. Yea!

This visual novel is way too long and bloated, with a pointless story, idk what is with this porn VN that try to be present themselves as a worthy script to be read, with deep themes or coplex characters when in reality they are the opposite.
Its an art bait with no gameplay mechanics at all, such a slog just to get through one plotline for the most ridiculous sex scene situation before getting thrown in another story path equally bad.

up to version 0.7 the story was at least interesting
every character got introduce fairly properly
the MC at least have a clear goal
tension and climax.... literally
for 0.81 it feels like everything got introduced but then never got elaborated
like the mc reveal is past story details and then never mentioned again then the ending have almost nothing to do with it
the 2nd "mc" never elaborate further on her action, the story is fairly... halfass
the first part of the story is still ok but pass 0.7... meh

First time writing a review out of the absolute sufferings I have had from the story. The player character is someone purely dominated by his dick and will stop everything he was carrying out, be it anger, frustration, or hate when he sees a female char naked. (Yes, the Noriko plot is infuriating, and we can't do anything but forgive??? I'd rather choke her!!)

Extremely childish and brain-dead writing. I cannot believe just how ridiculous the story progresses, the characters personalities and story progression constantly contradict each other, feels like a stupid dream of the main character overall, or the author himself.
The system is also practically useless.

Art is good though

Well, it's basically the Petting Zoo version of NTR games, which is fine. There is a lot to like about it.

The art is great, especially the characters and their facial features. The H scenes are well integrated, the story is coherent and well done. Animations are excellent.

So if you are one of those harem types and feel like skirting the edge of danger without the chance of your feet (or pants) getting wet, this is the game for you. It really is excellent for what it wants to do.

It'd be so much more excellent if it had actual choice and consequence, i.e. you being able to fail and face the result, but alas, that is not to be.

But then, Disney movies are popular for a reason too.

Enjoy it for what it is.
