The end of your comment answer to its opening.

As I said (well, clearly not explicitly enough since you're the second), those were the minimal costs he could possibly get without going to shitty work.
That price would get you someone from 3d world country, bad grammar, and no actual writing skill.

There's little point in hiring someone who will do a bad job.

Are 35$ per render an actual minimum that someone would have to pay?
I would have thought that would be way lower tbh.
I would say way lower.
This is a minimum price for flat drawn art. And actual drawn art is many times more expensive.

It's a guess, but not a wild one. Globally speaking it's 3 times the minimal wage in Western countries ; two hours of effective works + the extra hour to cover the risk of being freelancer.
Obviously, setting up a scene and rendering it would need less than two hours if you know what you're doing and it's not a one time render. But the price include the time you'll need to setup the models and locations for the whole project, what will take days, when not weeks.

That price is three days of the average salary in most western countries, for what is the equivalent of one day of effective works for you since you're only writing the update for this month and are supposed to be a professional.
Oh and by the way, don't sell short writers from 3rd world countries. The fact that the cost of life is cheaper don't mean that they are illiterate.

I'd use the money to get scenes of my fav [anime] girls in missionary with male OC/Anon or scissoring female OC/Anon in a crazy crossover sci-fi-ish porn parody ren'py game. With $7k it might be 2-3 months worth of development. There could be ~12 animated scenes, so 3 fav characters in 4 positions perhaps? Not sure but fun to brainstorm! :giggle: I have literally no clue what the costs are to funding such development is so I'm sure I'm way off in my calculations.

Edit: Almost like https://f95zone.to/threads/public-sex-life-v0-27-paradicezone.36442/ but I'd prefer it in 2D instead. 3D is probably hella cheaper.

For writers one could take the normal 10 to 20 cent per word price that being paid for website bullshit content creators. Like woman that review shoes or make an fitness article or so.
Dont see that standard porn should be more worth.

Translations btw are similar.

ok but does that include assets or not?
I mean the buyer of the images would need to hold the content license due to him not being able to change artist if need arises and loosing complete control of the project. Problem is tho .. i dont know if the artist is allowed to work with assets that he gets via third party.

More or less one would need a project daz acount and buy all assets and then give the acount login data to the artist so that he can download all assets needed for the project and would have to make a github or something for all duf files created for the project. But i dont know if thats even allowed in the daz eula. I mean i dont care but just as a thought.

Most guys on here will have mostly the problem that they cant even provide details of what they all use and what is not used in there library and then there may even also be the problem of the legality of all assets. And most dont have clear project specific libraries as most are not coming from professional backgrounds.

Yeah, uh...You can't just "make learning your own hobby", if they don't want to be involved with that stuff and they want to hire it, let them, not everyone wants to learn coding(Or whatever)

Also also; Never ask other people(Specially in this forum with so many mixed feelings on kinks) for opinion on what they want to see.

If it was me, for example, it would be;

Fantasy setting with a mix of futa, females, and males but only in the form of monsters or orcish kind of races.
Some breast expansion and belly inflation.

As you can see, this doesn't contain ANY milfy shit cause I'm absolutely uninterested in it and I think it's shit, but the guy in the second post is interested in it...While the person in the next post might not be interested in Futa or breast expansion.

Do your own think, eventho that's not the answer you want, it's the answer you need.
Funny i havent said anything about milfs in my comment .. aunt katie was a reference to a game with only 1 guy and 1 woman.
And katie isnt a mother. As in she doesent have kids and she doesent even look that aged. And bukkake and gangbangs are also not focused on milfs afaik.

But i have no real problem with that assumption as i do have played most milf games.
Not specifically because im in to it as im not even into real matures or milf.
I play those with incest patch cause they sound otherwise even stupider and have even less logic. But it can be the sister or some other random character that does it for me or none of em. If it is the landlady fine but its not my fetish.

Also fetish kidna means must have and i dont know if i have any real ones besides maybe cum on face or oral. I mostly dont give a shit about age or role or if its monster, fantasy, beast or human content.

I find futa game shitty as they mostly dont keep their shit off their preview pictures and even if it is stated that one can avoid it its often not completly out and those guys feel the need to make trap or something thats shit for me therefore i wont play those at all anymore. And i dont hate trans people i just dont like to get a dickchick mixed in my chickfilet. :) Cause thats just pretty shitty. lol
Oo i might develop a shit fetish

This is meant to be funny .. but its probably just shite. lol

Professionals wouldn't even bother with your offer. Even in the 3rd world, people are expecting to be paid for the work.
What you'll get will be a hobbyist who wrote a couple of stories at best.
Also, you're underestimating writing if you think 1 day is enough to prepare a script for the 1-month update. Especially for VN with a lot of text.

Your suggestion is not even close to what actual people are expected to be paid.

If you pay someone to render a scene, giving them the assets and a description of the action, rendering 50 sequential pics is less difficult than doing 50 different pieces of commissioned art. In many cases you're just making a few incremental adjustments to the scene per new render.

I think it would depend upon how much you leave up to the artist. If you create the character models and assets and dictate what to render, that's very different than saying "I want you to create a hot redhead milf and her dorky teenage son, and then I want you to put them into various suggestive scenarios but the fine details are up to you".

Thank you, everyone! A fantastic "pro and contra" discussion of the idea itself. I perhaps was bit maximalistic in my descriptions, as it sounded as if I want to invest zero work into the project and just throw cash at the wall and see what sticks )) Absolutely my fault in making it sound that way. Naturally, I know renpy well and coded my first game in it ) And I would write the outline of the script and scenes. But I wouldn't write the dialogues and detailed descriptions - would outsource that to a writer. I agree with people who said that Renpy programming when no sandbox/rpg elements are involved is well.. basic )) I could do it myself or give to an assistant with mininal skill.

As for the graphics and renders... Well... Even people who discussed how you should pay money to designers for renders and how a producer with an idea and budget and a willingness to organize everything is "just an unnecessary middleman" are using HoneySelect to render their stuff for the game, so that can really be done ALMOST for free. So essentially the budget goes to writing, basic copy/pasting into Renpy (can't even call the 20 variables and a few if/thens coding) and last but not least - someone who digs HoneySelect 2 and can use it to create both renders and animations - that part is def unexpensive in the third world.

Oh, and before anyone bashes me for exploitation of third world talent for cheap - I am from there myself, which also gives me a leverage of hiring people who don't speak English - not for writing obviously. And I know for sure, that if you pay people from third world country a small salary by first world country standard, you help them immensely and get great quality work (if no actual English writing is envolved). That why again conclude, that most of the budget will probably go to the writing.

The idea of making the first chapter (but also making it complete enough to become a short completed game if no interest follows) also seems smart - thank you for that!

As for what I would want to create: probably a modern version of MotelS - an old mystical rags game about an old rundown motel corrupting the female MC and other character through mystical means. The original game is lesbian content only, but sure can be expanded. That's where my inital leanings at the very least.

Yeah. If you want 5 renders per location and have 5 locations thats very diffrent from 25 renders in one location.

The diffrence of me being given character and hair and clothing and one backgrond setting and is not that diffrent than to click together some character they already have throw some morphs on it and use percentages of diffrent fitting characters with feature u like and do that with head and body on its own and switch the skin with some other model so it becomes all a bit less easy to spot as premade character. Then your done in a few minutes if the client doesent want like 3 models to choose from.

Hmm honey select isnt really legal to use afaik.
But i also never heard of projects shutdown if used so i dont know how high the risk is or if there is any.

I have to admit that im tempted to do that too but it has the risk of being shutdown.
If the company that does hs ever comes to the conclusion that it could sue patreon for all those games that have no license. And then the fun is over.
stranger things have happen.

Female protagonist plus mainly lesbian isnt my taste so you wont see my in your game thread lurking.
But i wish you the best and have fun doing it.

fidless may i ask on what your game is based?

Is it HS2 or the other new one or are those just assets from that imported to another renderer? I cant tell 100% due to me being not that into hs as i have only used it once when i tried out vr googles. And i havent had a look at the new game.

CreativeIdeasCome should at least try to get to that level since normal game based on those titles have mostly the same asian mc and at least one or two female characters that are in every hs game. Which makes the whole thing boring and not worth it for me. But filess game looks fantastic at first sight. I havent played it but i will these coming days for sure.

In terms of legality, I'm willing to take the risk. In the unlikely case of game taking off it's possible to actually commission original art later on. As for Illusion closing down patreon accounts, well, I find it strange that people use Patreon to ask for donations to begin with. Creating a website on Wordpress and setting up an independent donation system with different tier of access to posts takes measly 3-4 days of work and you're pretty much independant of Patreon. And I doubt very much Illusion will target your little website and go in with a court order against you.

As for fetishes: not sure I want to create a fully lesbian game, I like the premise of closed space changing characters, but open to different fetishes. But when it comes to Honey Select graphics, a game focused on female chars makes for much more varied graphics, as possibilities to edit and mod female characters in HS2 is close to endless, while with male characters it's pretty much zero.

Hi, this topic is really interesting that I took the opportunity to make the budget of all that my project cost. And to be honest with 7000$ you can do something really good.

Honestly, I would advise you to go for a project with handmade drawings and forget about 3d with daz, koikatsu or honey select.

If you have a good budget you might as well do something nice.

Find an artist on Hentai foundry for the sprites, another one for the backgrounds, a coder who can also do the story and the rest in an artist who will make you a nice little soundtrack.

For the moment in my project, I'm at 4000$, but I still think to invest a bit more in other CG.

The disadvantage of hand-drawn games is that it takes longer to develop.

Without looking at what others have written:

A romantic slow burn story where the main character ends up with one person at the end. Focus on your plot, nothing in the paranormal/supernatural/fantasy/science fiction realm, instead write a slice of life story about a character in their late 20’s/early 30’s (or older) who works and dates but feels like something is missing.
Plot would be a bit of the MC exploring the regrets they have from college (playable flashbacks) as well as trying to move forward in life and decide what they want in life now. Dreams versus reality type situation.
Elements I’d like to see:
Character creation (choose male or female main character)
Ability to choose sexual orientation as the player plays the game - the character can be bi, gay, or straight. Or don’t lock them in at all
Dates can be one night stands (choose the right dialogue options during the date to unlock it at the end of the night) or they can become more serious via multiple dates.
A good mix of male and female characters, a diverse range.
All sex would be optional, all fetishes and kinks would be optional. But have a lot of them - cover the gamut.
Have the character act their age.
Don’t tie the relationship points to the MC peeping or having someone see their dick or tits.
Don’t kill a love interest, make the player choose one. To me a harem is a cop out, please don’t include one.

If you include incest don’t use Patreon for funding, create accounts on Subscribestar and a Buy Me A Coffee. Also make the incest avoidable just like the rest of the fetishes.

Using Honey Select is very clever. You can produce fast renders with lots of different women quickly.

One of the top games on F95 has renders made in Honey Select, and it has 5500 patrons.

Unfortunately, I despise Honey Select's art style & archaic graphics, but a lot of people don't mind it, so using it is 100% feasible and clever actually.

Honey Select 2 is supposed to be a lot better than 1 but I don't know of any games that are currently using it.

And as to daz3d and a budget a lot of first time devs pirate the assists, not saying that is the way to go but just pointing it out as another feasible way to do it.

A VN about how people see themselves in the eyes of others.

A peek at the darker side of romance in the modern age of swiping right or left or whatever. Would be a bit complex from varying viewpoints establishing how a certain character see's themself (id) vs how others see them (super ego) vs who they really are (ego).

Main Area would be something akin to the Velvet Room from Persona/SMT; only its a high class bar with a lone bartender (gender would be opposite of your chosen gender), numerous patrons and various secluded areas for more intimate drinking. It shows up anywhere, like how the Velvet Room operated in Persona/SMT games. It would be tied to a new tinder-knock off given to the MC by a rather upstanding good samaritian after a night turned wrong (drink thrown at him, slapped, jumped in alleyway after too much drinking, etc).

From this, MC could be anything from a college student to a wage slave and beyond. Story would be casual slice of life, but with a sprinkle of the supernatural via the Main Area (not sure what to call it). Left open-ended with no questions answered because that is what it is (an allegory to sex games maybe?). Only MC knows about it and can enter it.

Two types of main romance arch-types; non-Main Area (real world) and Main Area (whatever it is). Bartender would act like a voice of reason while serving you drinks. To sum it up any Main Area romances would ultimately end up as "bad endings" while non-Main Areas would be the "good endings".
