VN - Ren'Py - Grandma's House [Part 4 v0.61] [Moonbox]

It is what it is, it offers cookie-cutter content with a twist and it delivers, plus a wholesome, albeit still gary-stuey story.
The renders are good, models are good and varied (godbless Liz), story, though development would be more accurate in this case, as I said is quite good for what is to be expected, dialogues are fine as well (maybe too much heavy breathing tho), and they have a good bit of gary-stu spicing, the grammar is very good, unfortunately there's no sound nor music, and neither are there animations, these being the reasons for taking away a star.
Still, it's a good game to kill time and just read some wholesome gary-stu stuff, keep it up dev!

1.) I have not finished the current version 0.23. And this is my first time playing the game. So keep that in mind, while reading my review.
2.) This game may not appeal to you, if you are looking for a deep story. From what I've played, there is no endgame to strive for. No specific goal to reach. And I actually don't mind that.
3.) The characters are lovable, including the MC, which is rare for me to like. Some characters you may find to your liking more than others. Shizuka and Aaliyah are my personal favorites so far.

And finally: Give the game a shot, it's far better than I thought it would be. I am now a fan, and will look forward to future updates.

another example why the ratings on this site are either faked or trash how they work. that this game is rated so high is ridicolous. story doesn't make sense at all, i wouldn't even call it a story.

way to much girls are getting thrown at the mc without any background or relationship building. to argue about that his dick size would be over average is ridicolous as well, it's absurd big and looks pretty ugly.

even if some girls are looking interesting and hot, there is no real backstory or some deeper story behind them at all.

This game is Harem and shows many sex scenes.

The advantage of this game is that the characters have various descriptions, and this is why I like this game.

But it's a shame that the main dish hasn't come out yet.

I really enjoy this game. When a new update comes out, I will start playing it as soon as I can. Updates are regular, and reasonably meaty (I believe we are shown two new days every two weeks, with each day having multiple encounters if you choose.

People point out that there are too many women; this may be true, but it does seem like the dev is starting to better show us who are the main girls, and showing them to us regularly. While some plot points (the MC's super-potency, local drug stores running out of pregnancy tests, etc.) seem to be developing slowly, they are developing. My expectation that the MC will have at least 10 buns in the oven before Tanya delivers may not pan out; we'll see.

It's also true that if you're primarily here to see the MC and his titular grandma get it on, you have to be patient still. That said, one can't say that there's no progress there.

The MC, generally speaking, is a Nice Guy. In the real world, this isn't a magical pass to all the sex one can handle. To the best of my knowledge, this story isn't happening in the real world. Some women fall for the MC as a sequel partner immediately. Others (Amelia, Allison, Shizuka) love him dearly, without immediately falling into the sack with him. There is some balance.

Grandma's House is good example to show what happens when you sacrifice quality and good story for quantity and subpar lewd scenes , it doesn't deliver anything valuable , I can't feel sympathy for any of characters ,because none of them are sincere and genuine , it's an amalgam of fake characters with most perfunctory story .
As soon as MC chose that interested in certain character , they start to beg him for sex without any effort , first encounter of MC with realtor woman and policewoman are among worst scenes I saw in any game , it lacks proper taste and sense , there are quite a lot of these tasteless scenes later on.
I liked Fiona and Amelia character and for these two I think game deserve a 2 star!

Poor, MC has a monster dick, he bangs random people like it's a natural thing, story is pretty average. I like the idea of grandma, but it looks so unreal. Plus, all mature women completely shaved. Too many Characters and renders are not that great

Looked promising at first, but now it's just a shitshow with lots of mediocre to ugly renders. Mostly consists of MC either hugging or humping random women who are pissing themselves for no reason when they see him.

This used to be one of my favorite game, I really liked how it started but... Now? Same boring teasing update after update, and the MC is just out here fucking all these useless side chicks that no one gives a F about, there's no story progression and the characters that I actually like (Nana) and a couple others have zero content yet and most likely will have nothing interesting until the very end of the game, BORING.

Like most have said, Do not expect a deep story on this one. That being said one thing this story does deliver on is humor. Not just in the writing but in the animations as well. Every update has me laughing more than the last. This is one of the few games on here that I look forward to an new update. Sure the story may be "simple" but there is just a ton of fun packed into this game. Just don't expect and reality in the story.......But hell how much do you actually expect from a harem story ?

There is not much story to speak of, and the game just feels bland,drags way too long, and has lazy porn logic that just lets you fuck the women you wan´t , without working for it.
The women have no personality and are just boring.
The writing is uninteresting and the texts/dialogues are painfully long and add nothing to the game. I later started to skip most of it on the highest speed and there were lots of dialogues that took ages to end.

A lot of the Women in this game are bowling shoe ugly, with some of the most bizarre body shapes i´ve ever seen in a game, with few exceptions.
The Mc is boring and his dick looks way too big to do anything with it.

Sex Scenes:
The Sex scenes are incredibly boring and are just static images and no animations and with no sound in them.
When the game only revolves around having sex with everyone who crosses paths with you and little to no story, then at least have some decent sex scenes.

I´m really not sure who I can recommend this game to.
Maybe if you are alright with static sex scenes then this game might be for you but idk.

One of the most poorly written VNs on the site. The dialogue is bland and empty and gets worse with each update.

You'd think having a huge cast of different females would be a strength but it's a weakness here since most of the main girls get no scenes and the side girls that I have no interest in get hooked on the MC's dick without any build up or valid reason.

If you plan on skipping all the dialogue and just seeing the scenes then go for it cause reading the back of a shampoo bottle is more amusing than this.

This is the VN that got me into 3D rendered stuff. I exclusively enjoyed 2dcg and 2d content until i gave this a try and damn it was worth it. I love how MC cares about every women he is affectionate with and can be the right amount of rough in the right time and it's not the typical corruption type or being a loser to get pity sex type cuz it sickens me. Being romantic and passionate with neglected women mixed in with virgin love stories are so tasteful.
The only complainant i have is that MC being a bum, well i hope with the Opelia storyline it will change or MC might start doing something cause while as much as i like MC going around seducing women their seem to be a lack of a main story or a plot.

I've been playing this VN from the start, and while the game has a lot of heart, it is very rinse-and-repeat. It has a ton of H-scene content but it is often very shallow / uninspiring. Give credit to the dev for their consistent update schedule -- they are very frequent.

The Good

• Huge diversity of girls with different personalities, body types and overall looks
• Main characters (including MC) are nice and easy to root for
• Lots of H-scenes and these are added with every update

The Not-So-Good

• The story has made less and less sense over time. The MC is being dragged into diluted conversation after diluted conversation with an increasingly large cast of characters that is hard to keep track of
• The story began (generally) grounded in realism but has devolved into messy threads that are mostly implausible
• The girls are all good looking but few are ... sexy. There is little seduction or intrigue -- the H-scenes are almost rote in how predictably they play out.

Will continue to follow this game but at this point, it is what it is -- a shallow harem f*ckfest that has breadth of content but no depth.

The game has only average graphics by current standards but the models are good enough that together with the scene setting and during-sex-scene dialogues and some hot fetishes they can make the sex scenes hot.
The game has a large amount of female cast for all kinds of tastes and a lot of sex scenes, so if you are here only for those and don't care about logic this game might be for you.
All women and fetishes are (mostly) optional so even if you are not interested in some of them or even find them disgusting, you don't have to skip the game completely.

There are some not so good stuff too however.
The beginning of the game sets up MC as a smart and hardworking guy, who just finished his studies at a university while working on the side to help with the expenses and now that he returns home, he is planning to get a job soon.
However the dev seems to have dropped that in favor of giving mc the time and ability to go where they want and when they want and help whomever they want to without care for expenses.
This however turned MC to a bum who doesn't work, only sits home watching TV while waiting for some girl to call or visit him.
He is also an orphan, so he supposedly cares for family and sympathizes with kids who have no parents or their parents are trash. Despite that he goes around with some causal relationships, impregnating woman (optional) in some cases and in some cases we don't know if he will ever see them again.

Another sore pint for me is Nana. This is a very subjective point, so if you are into her, you might not find any issues with this. As I mentioned fetishes and love interests are (mostly) optional however Nana is such a central character that there is a huge amount of content with her, both standard family and relationship stuff.
If you don't like her you will find that you have to skip through a lot of stuff in some updates just get to the next person.
A related but less subjective point is that sometimes sex scenes with one character are connected to sex scenes with a different character with a different type of fetish.
Early in the game you had the chance to have sex with the real estate agent. I a recent chapter you could have a threesome with her and Mabel if you were on the Mabel route. There is no alternate scene however if you refused Mabel.
She is not a main love interest, so it's not a big issue currently, but as the harem comes together and group scenes will probably become more common you might be left out more and more content if you chose to avoid some characters and fetishes.

This game is a solid canvas. It has many good features. The girls are all different and you can choose and pick which ones you like or not, like bbw, gilf or loli. They look pretty good. I especiallly enjoyed the Indian sisters.
Now, why only 3 stars? Because its empty.
There are sex scenes, sure, plenty even, but they dont feel good. There is no conflict, no sense of conquering or seducing women. They all want your (weirdly big) dick instantly.
Like, one corny "youre pretty" pickup line and they rip off your clothes. Its boring.
If you do not have to do anything but say Yes or No to sex everyday, its just going from scene to scene.
The story is non-existent. Its just the MC meeting girls who want his dick from the get-go every single day.
This is a good canvas, but the actual painting is unexciting.

It's been a while since I've been this torn about my thoughts on a game/VN. I'd give it a middle of the road score, but since that's not an option I'd say that it deserves a three more than a two because in spite of my gripes, it's above average rather than below. Final thoughts: Is Grandma's House a *bad* VN? No, I wouldn't go that far. There's enough to like, and I'm sure there's plenty of folks who wouldn't be bothered by the stuff on my list of cons (or even consider them pros). It's a decent light read, doesn't waste time getting to the smut, and there aren't many other VNs that lay on the sweetness as thick as this one does. I don't regret the time I've spent reading it, but if I ever finish reading it will be after a long break. Overall it just doesn't make the cut for what I look for in a VN. But it's definitely a mixed enough of a bag that I'd suggest taking a look and judging for yourself, unless you're completely turned off by the bulk of my cons.

This is one of the two games where I expect updates as much as my monthly pay!

Hmm I was kind of torn between 3 and 4 stars and went with four because the game at least isn't aiming at being sick. God, trying to find anything outside of a handful of slow developing decent games is pretty hard. I don't mind admitting I don't like lesbo crap and forget ntr/sharing and soft cucking that is so popular. In that sense the game ticks a bunch of boxes (for now)as it is. I can see that changing though as at some point I can sense a threesome (boring) or sudden conversion of some of the girls to being bi happening. The story if you want to call it that dips into some pretty silly territory already. The last couple of updates especially were bordering on ridiculous. From rapey maids to bj's from cops to some random chick in a shower at the beach (who the aunt suggests the MC engage with, which lands them in jail) I can see this going sideways the longer it goes. I never thought the story was great but pointless scenes like these aren't very interesting.

The art is pretty decent as there is a nice variety amongst the girls/women. Even the grandma is decent except weirdly for when she is sleeping where the dev decided to make her face look like she just got punked by a dutch oven from the MC. There are a lot of women so really most of them don't see much content per update. Personally I think the dev should do the nana event people are waiting for and then see how it goes. I've seen more than a few games where the buildup was far more dramatic than the event and this could easily happen here. Also a lot of casual sex is at odds with a loving relationship with at least some of the harem. Is nana just going to be another notch on the bedpost? I don't know but the game has this problem with focus that isn't being helped by just adding more fuck buddies.

The game is pretty good in its way but there is just a bit if unreality that is constant. The Mc has to be the luckiest guy in the world-his laying around with his telephone pole out seems to be accepted by every woman he meets family or not family. No one ever seems to mind and after a quick comment and a giggle they just accept that each moment with the MC will be chaperoned by a giant cock that is never asleep. It's a bit much sometimes.

Anyway it is a decent enough game even if it's a bit shallow. It has nice models and some pretty cute moments (ie the stuttering girl who becomes the maid). I think it's worth a play unless you like horrible fetishes then you will hate it for sure. 4 out of five seems fair.
