Unity - Hail Dicktator [v0.87.1] [Hachigames]

Due to new circumstances i have to update my review but i'm going to keep my previous review(which was a 5stars)

Reviewing v0.83.1

Premise: Almost 5 years passed since my past review, i didn't even recall ever writing a review of this game, so imagine my surprise, when i couldn't write a review, then checked my rating-list and learned that i wrote one. Oh boy, things changed and so did my opinion about this game. This is gonna be another one where i just write down stuff, there is a list but i won't do the "good, meh and bad" type of listing, i'll just rant and see where it goes.

The story is still simple, is still good, is still digestable, nothing too heavy, even at worst, it's easy to follow, and even easier to write a "gist of it" version of this story, nothing to complain about. The kinks are on the light/soft side of BDSM, so nothing too brutal.

The characters is why i don't want but also can't write a "good, meh, bad"-list, because the characters would fit in all three categories




The reason i won't mention other characters, despite knowing them, is due to a problem this game has: replayability. The game is not easy to replay, not because of grinding, or some weird gimmick but i'll give you my own RECENT(and current) situation as an example: due to changing my PC and not having backup-saves i'm in the situation of replaying this whole game from zero, and we know how are the quests in this game, not to mention the lack of "skip to X-update of the game", i lost my saves in the weird dream-world where characters' personalities were mixed up. I see no save-files in the main page of this game, so i'm replaying the whole game from zero, and it's been a week, and i barely reached Nyx's story by skipping through A LOT(aside a few cute scenes that i'm fond of), because of course you must follow the quests, so be at X-place on Y-time, on and on and on.

The music is distracting, i've nothing else to day.

In conclusion, the game is ruined by a few major issues(replayability mostly) and those few bad, poorly written characters, who kinda taint the game. It's up to you to figure you if this is the game you want to play.

Story: Weird and unusual, i thought "this game is gonna be boring", glad to be proven wrong.

Originality: Unusual, which is good, it's so weird that it's actually good.

Renders: Good graphic, i love it.

Sound: It's standard, nothing to say, nothing to comment.

Playability: Optimal.

Performance: Usually games made with Unity are bad, but like very very bad, like PC-crashing level of bad, but this one is the exception and i love it!.

Bugs: didn't notice them

Animations: Well Made.

Voice Acting: There isn't but i've zero problems with it.

Grammar: it's understandable which means that i've nothing to say about it.

Amount of content: Just Wow, at lof of it.

Extra: i was sure that the maid was a trap at first XD too nice, too adorable XD

UPDATE: Just played the most recent version and I have to stay the game overall is still disappointing. The "animations" haven't improved at all. They are still a loop of 2 images, and you only get 1 or 2 angles at most. The same boring generic music being used is the same as a half a dozen other VN's that I've played over the last few years. The dialogue gives me a headache trying to understand it 98% of the time. Maybe, just maybe with a major overhaul the game could be pretty decent. I might check back in another 2 to 3 years to see if it's still being made, and if any major improvements have been implemented.


Two words can describe this game. Boring Grindfest. The "hint" system is very basic and doesn't really help in any way at all. Using words to describe the action when the MC is getting intimate with the women was being used by game devs 3 or 4 years ago. Even simple animations would make the game more enjoyable and immersive.

I've been watching / playing this game for a few updates and have to say it's been pretty disappointing. Every time I go to do rewards / punishments the same notice keeps coming up update after update that there will be more in future updates. Are we going to have to wait another dozen updates before that part of the game gets updated? I thought the major part of the game was the reward / punishment part of it?

If you haven't played this game yet I would wait at least 6 months or longer before playing. Maybe by then the dev will wake up and start updating more of the game mechanics that the game is based on. Plus no new dialogue has been updated for the part of the game that I've played. It's just the same boring questions over and over. When the women hit a certain level with the stats more questions should be added. Isn't the MC trying to learn more about the island and the history? How can that happen when the dialogue updates are slower than molasses on a cold day?

When i first started playing this game, it was for the premise, but now its more for the story(the premise is still good). as each update rolls out, the story gets more and more intriguing. this is much more than a take control and subdue/corrupt everyone game, it allso holds one of the (in my opinion atleast) best stories of any adult game i have played.

Although the game requires a little bit of grinding and certain events take place at certain days, the plot is very engaging so the grind is worth it.
All the girls are well written and have their unique personalities. Their models differ, but not so much - they are all very good-looking.
There is room for more fetishes, hopefully more plot twists and much more harem fun filthy degrading sex.

As a constructive criticism - there is also a room for at least one more or less girl who is capable of showing more or less domination behavior towards the MC. The cast is amazing as it is, but for now they are all sexually submissive regardless of their personalities.

-Few repeatable scenes
-Gallery doesn't have all scenes
-Some repeatable scenes have very specific conditions to trigger, like time and day of the week

Great content but the gameplay gets in the way sometimes.

The art's great. I really like the girls' models are pretty and posing is fluid and believable. Even the backgrounds are nice and shot composition are good.

Writing is very enjoyable too. Scenario's novel, voice is strong, fluency and narrative are strong and characterization is one of the strongest draws to the work. I love the uncle's character and will nerdrage stars off if his character gets ruined later -_- .

Porn's pretty standard, and needs more girl/girl.

The girl location scheduling gets in the way enough to be an overall detriment. Sometimes of the 'meet X girl at Y place at Z time' steps of chain quests will fail because that girl isn't set to be at that place on the gameplay day you're currently on. Similarly I had the entire UI break because the bartender gal had a pending event fire when another character was present. The issue is made all the more annoying by other similar situations working fine either by automatically triggering when you enter the right place at the right time regardless of the girl being there or not, or by overriding the girl in question's location as is done with Leah and the visitor girls when they're having their respective snits. Additionally some of the event triggers are unintuitive enough to require using the hints section and that makes me salty.

TLDR: Scarlet best girl.

It gets better and better with every update.

Definitely my favorite game to play right now.

Very good bondage, spanking, discipline scenarios.

Definitely recommended if you are a softcore bdsm fan.

Ver. 0.9.0 review:

I finally tried this one after just ignoring it these past months- and now I wonder why I ever did that, yet at the same time I'm glad I did. The amount of content these past few months is just amazing; I was ultimately hoping for more real penetrative action, but I still enjoyed the game as a whole.

The models are just beautiful, with real variety and distinction in both body types and attributes -- too many works on this site feature models with the main point of difference boiling down to hair style/color and boob size. And that's if their designs had any effort put into them at all.

Then you also have models where creators try really hard to make them distinctive and "unique," only to have them look unnatural at best and pretty goddamn ugly in certain lighting at worst. On a similar note, the girls here are are capable of emoting quite well without turning into grotesque clay figures- even more impressive, is that they do so with that ever gnawing "artificial" feeling toned way down.

TL;DR: They feel real, yet still look good.

Other high points are the amazing QoL features, so it doesn't feel like a complete slog trying to get anywhere. The UI is detailed and helpful, but not cluttered and obscuring. And then you have the glorious ability to roll back. And the incredibly ability to skip. In a Unity game! Other coders need to take notes. Seriously.

The writing is also very good; both grammatically speaking and plot-wise. Errors are are minimal, and the formal is very light on the eyes. Plot-wise, flow and structure are well done and I really never felt a scene or event was dragging too long. The setting and other plot elements are also enjoyable, serving to facilitate the fetish focus without anything truly out there- at least by porn standards.

My only hope going forward is that penetrative sex gets more feature and focus in future versions' events and scenes. Alice' "Punish Me" scene was HAWT and repeatable variants, for her and everyone else, would be AMAZING. Would also definitely love to just cut loose and take Sonya in the middle of the town square or on the cafe counter during her exhibitionist moments.

As of version 0.10.2 - my opinion has not changed. The game is still a marvel.

It's been a while, since I have rated something with 5 stars. It was a refreshing experience! Basically if you are in to BDSM of all kinds - download the game and play it. Now. This is the tl;dr version. The longer one follows.

Hail Dicktator. I admit I went in with very low expectations. The pitch is just... meh. Run a hotel, punish chicks that misbehave...
What I got was well worth the hours I invested in it.

The Story
Can't say much about it without spoilers. Currently it has no real branches, but after the first 20 or so minutes it becomes from "ok, that's just dumb" to "huh, intriguing". At the second hour I was theory crafting what will come next and in most cases I couldn't predict it in the slightest.
It's not Russian classics (tho it has enough suffering to qualify for being one), but its decent. You Uncle is actually alive and supports your efforts as much as he can - a breath of fresh air next to all "your uncle died and you inherited X" plots.
There is a lot of humor if one likes more over the top writing. I started very skeptical, but went giggling pretty soon and out right laughing very quickly after that. Expect over the top shit everywhere (if the gal with a gun a few paces aside from the gall with the sword on the main image didn't prepare you for that), but it fits perfectly with everything else in the game.

Characters.
Simply put - they are good. I like some girls more than others, but all of them are well-written and stay consistent throughout the game. You'll have some serious fun with them all (well, with one exception for now). I must warn people, that there is one girl who is blackmailed in to participating in the BDSM stuff. She is a royal bitch and above, so I didn't feel bad degrading her, but I know some people are really off putted by such things. There is also a really toxic relationship between her and another girl, before stomp her in the ground. Otherwise, everybody else is a consenting adult and an eager one at that for the BDSM parts.
Most of the characters are very competent at what they do, but the MC is not a pushover himself.

Gameplay.
I mean, it's there. There is a gameplay loop, that you do to gain money, but staying afloat becomes more than easy at the later parts of the game. Making money just speeds up things in the game, it's not a bottleneck or a fail state.

The engine.
if you ever wondered why people say unity is better than RenPy... well, this game shows it well. Good engine, good UI, a very helpful and useful quest log. Great gallery. What more can I say?

As a whole - it's a great game, that you can't loose. Why aren't you downloading it already?

What pushes it into five star territory is the strong dominant/submissive and SM thematic.

pros:
-great features. ex amazing gallery, money cheat, status, quests tracker steps & hints.
-pretty good story for these type of games, good enough to not bog down the real content but enhance it
-great amount of content for the time this has been out
-nice amount of new content from frequent and consistent updates, especially considering other more popular titles
-nice variety of characters
-majority of characters are interesting and well designed
-pretty nice high quality scenes & renders
-user control and freedom is great with the forward and back buttons to test out different decisions and reverse bad ones.

cons:
-advancing thru ui is kinda clunky but not too bad, having some mappable hotkeys for certain actions like opening and closing menus etc would be convenient instead of having to click thru everything.
-quest progression albeit interesting enough kind of a chore even with the much appreciated tracker and hints, maybe some cheat toggle to noticeably point/skip to places with new content would reduce the grind, like maybe an asterisk (*) next to new unplayed dialogue. "speech checks" may be nice as well to inform the player if a dialogue choice is passable or not to reduce unnecessary clicks
-scrollwheel interaction wonky
-feel like with the location buttons, names in the ui like status/quest/gallery should have the persons head picture next to the name for more recognition and less recall for smoother and more natural navigation thru the interface. but for the most part the visual indicators are well done.


overall a top tier game and looking forward to more

Solid 5 star game. The renders are great, with unique looking, sexy girls. The gameplay itself is fun and much better with the relatively recent upgrades to the UI. The hint system is enough so you're never stuck. Great game through and through.

Why bother implementing a currency system when you literally have to cheat to max out the hotel? -----

CON:
- To be fair, you dont have to max out the stats but still, why bother whit prices tens of thousends if you get ~200 or so per day...

- There isnt enought to do and this comes pretty fast. Between day 15 and 20 i way only skipping most of the day because i couldnt progress further until i buy a shit ton of stuff - again the money problem.

Around day 20 i finally cheated for the money and bought everything. Now i can progress but have to wait several day with every girl because their events only happen on specific days and times.

Day 26 and iirc i havend fucked any girl till now. Got 1 handjob and i think 2 blowjobs. Sexy scenes are rare and not worth repeating them since they consist of like 5 frames or so.


Gotta play it a litlle bit further because of the 2 new girls but otherwise its not worth the time/effort

TL;DR
If you are here for the bdsm kink, there are way better games out there

Honestly this game is completely in the strike zone for guys like who like a bit of BDSM. The character models are all nice and the story is simple but good without being being mindboggling. The only things I can hold against it are that it is not finished and I do prefer games with more freedom like RPGs but theres not much that can be done about that and you still get to chose where to go, who to talk to and how to manage your hotel.

No walls of text or tons of banal and pointless dialogues or trains of thought that have nothing to do with the erotic aspects of the game.

- Linnear sandbox
What's the point of a sandbox game, if the story is set in stone and quests needs to be completed in a certain order for the game to progress? The drawback is a lot of waiting for the right time on the right day, without anything gained. It would have been better as a VN, where you still could have some choices about what and who to focus on each day.

- Grinding for stats and money
Not that bad actually, but when combined with the above mentioned waiting due to less than a stellarly implemented sandbox, then it becomes annoying.

- Sexcrazed virgins and unreasonable slow burn
The game has a lot of virgins that are madly in love/lust with the MC and have absolutely no apprehensions about having sex. To me, that's a bad combination. Either have virgins that are reluctant and need to be seduced and/or corrupted in order to get them to agree to sex or have sexually experienced character that really love sex and lust after the MC because they find him/her attractive and could be expected to perform really well sexually (that's hardly something you could expect from a virgin...). To make things worse, despite these virgins craving the MC badly, he still takes his sweet time before having sex with them, which to me just feels stupid (but I guess it's there so that the player can't have all the sex within ten minutes of starting the game...).

One of the best Unity games around. The girl characters are unique and very eye-catching. The storyline is also very good, with plot twists and new developments added in seamlessly to keep the game going. The grinding system to earn money for developing the hotel may be a tad tiresome, but overall the game is very much worth it.

Not going to lie, the name worried me... but the game turned out to be great. It is surprisingly sensible and has good characters. The story and character growth is lined up in a specific order and that might get a bit frustrating for people who want it all at once and fast. But story is written nicely and if you get into it, a slow but nice ride is waiting for you. Also I found the models to be fresh and different. I liked all characters, even the annoying ones and that's rare for me.

A few of the tags, humiliation and BDSM, scared me off trying this game until now but I am really glad that I gave it a shot.

The music is solid.

The dialogue is entertaining and I did not feel the need to skip through anything which is pretty rare for me with these games.

The mechanics are a little clunky but between showing where each character is on the map and a robust quest hint system it is very playable.

The humiliation is not mean spirited. It is more like an extreme prank war where all participants are willing and enjoying the game.

Nice story and great characters.Add big and pretty frequent updates.
Really good game, I hope it'll last until the end.
Maybe needs just a few tips to raise some of the stats (exhib, lust ...).
