Game development is a hellish job. And it's one person looking to expand like 6 areas, each with a dozen sub areas at least. Tell me in all your years of programming and game development (if you have so) that you don't just feel emotionally and energetically drained, but strapped for cash two. Those people aren't simps for simply supporting a game they like. And this whole thing comes off as an Choosing Beggar throwing an tantrum.
mate i seen them release daily updates each month but it does not matter what i said was my opinion and i dont have the time and dont care to change your mind. and about the beggar thing i bought many H games on steam from creators i like(when they are completed btw) but i am not gonna pay each month for a game that is not completed if you think not wanting to buy a game that is far from being done makes me a beggar go ahead but i think even if you pay 1/50$ to them each month for 4 years its 72$ you are telling me im a beggar i think you are just dont think with logic

Welcome to the porn game industry...

It's sadly rife with games that make an enticing pitch and then go nowhere fast. People are more than happy to slap down their credit card for a subscription and then forget it exists. The projects that do make regular progress usually do so at a snail's pace, since they're extremely small teams, if a team at all.

Crowdfunding has always been a double-edged sword, it's no different for adult games. It allows some games to be made that never would have seen the light of day otherwise. It also lets greedy asshats suck ridiculous money out of a hopeful fanbase for years on end. (not saying this game does that.)

All you can really do is vote with your wallet. Nice thing about a site like this is that you can test and make SURE a game is worth it before you actually support it monetarily.

Glad we were told this isn't the full 0.19 update
I'd've gone berserk, ask why they wasted their time changing Sam and whispy's voice (again) instead of using that time to add more characters and such..
Hopefully in the future, they give us an in game option as to what voices we want (plus the actual voice lines they used to have)

Lol, defending this game on a piracy site of all places? Absolutely pathetic, especially considering how the animations have 3 or 4 frames at best, and some of them don't even have a bad end. There's around 20 minutes of gameplay when this game has been out for at least 4 years, and every update is extremely barebones. It's obvious they are ripping people off.

Mass respects for people like the creator of Sinistar, who was working side-by-side with an engineer and every update seemed like a fine piece of art and was probably making half the money these guys are.

they can give out updates so much faster than this rate but why? when they are a lot simps that gives you money each month you delay it as long as you can for money. they are doing this basically to rip off people. still after 4-5 years?(maybe a little less) the game is far off from being done and just a funny fact is still a lot of people defend them maybe i dont see what they see but in my opinion they are scamming people
Hard to say, some games are blatant rip-offs such as Pure Onyx by Eromancer but other games including Happy Heart Panic which do get consistent, albeit slow, content updates (as in with actual content, new levels, new h-animations, or genuine reworks of existing content that are clear improvements) may not be rip-offs but just that the dev is either limited in time IRL on how much they can work on the project depending on various factors or just that the way the game is being developed is a slow process.

Pixel Art may seem simple but it is a lot of manual art work involved, animating it takes further work then programming all that into the engine is yet further work on top of it.

I think gamers, especially on F95 often underestimate how much work it is to make adult games and how time consuming it is especially if they are good quality. I personally would class Happy Heart Panic as a high quality game I think the animations are great and the game itself is great.

While progress is slow we do get consistent updates of actual added content about once every three months which in my eyes is decent progress. Sure it could be faster but with just one (or two?) people working on it I can see how it can be very slow going.

Just contrast the progress of Happy Heart Panic with that of Pure Onyx... First of all HHP is only 1 or 2 devs working on it and sure it earns circa 3K per month but I imagine after Patreon's cut and if it is two people that are splitting it, that's not enough to live off of meaning they have full-time or part-time employment as well and despite this over the past year they've added a substantial amount of actual content (new levels, new enemies, new h-animations).

Then you have Pure Onyx which earns nearly 15k per month and has a team of like 5+ devs working on it full-time (supposedly) and that hasn't had a single bit of content added in over nearly 2 years now.

Whereas another game called Hounds of Meteor by a solo Japanese dev who also does have a day job, no idea what the project is earning as it is on ci-en rather than Patreon. Has similar update progress to HHP, with consistent content added about every 3 months with new story, levels and h-animations and over the past two years has seen a substantial amount of content added in total.

So is HHP a rip-off? Personally I don't think so, I think with a day job of the 1/2 devs that are working on it the progress is to be expected for the quality it is.

Does it have non gay mode?
Depends on your definitions of gay.

Very strict: If you don't consider playing a female character as gay, then you can just use the female character. There's like, one animation she has where she forces the male playable character to fuck another (very femmy) dude, but you'd have to go out of your way to get that one.

Strict but tolerant: There are a pretty decent number of female characters, so even sticking with the male character can be straight as long as you avoid the male enemies (and slam R if you get caught anyway). Hard mode. A lot of the female enemies are futa though, so mileage may vary further depending on how you feel about futa on male and/or pegging.

Loose: The male character is a cute femboy. Sexuality is bullshit. Embrace aesthetic. If you like the feminine form Wispy still works.

It's literally just one guy working on it. Doing all the artwork, all the animation, all the programming, and aside from a few voice clips of Sam, then all the voicing as well. Aside from his spouse writing dialogue, lore, and helping to see if there's any bugs and if it's quality... then no, he literally does everything by himself.

All in all, a solo dev pixel artist/programmer getting builds out every 2-3 months versus some games with whole teams taking upwards of 6? I dunno, do the math and come to your own conclusion.

(Also the fact he releases the build FOR FREE FOR EVERYONE after 3 days of official release... I don't see what there is to complain about aside for the fact just to complain)

Have you considered that they are also trying to merge the world of Happy Heart Hell in with the game?
One of the bad endings in happy heart hell is an ABUSE bad end, where whispy was locked in a basement. One of the shadows in the japanese jinto gates right before a launch platform references this. It is likely Sam who saved Whispy in that bad end... rescued her, brought her into the life she has today in Happy Heart Panic.
Whenever she's near a shadow she can't perform any actions at all; she's literally suffering a panic attack.

So merging lore as if "crossing worlds" is gonna take some time, especially since Happy Heart Hell has a lot of content and is completed. She even panics she "may never get out" when near the funhouse shadow. I don't think she's mentioning the funhouse, but the entire city. Sam was in a sense her doorway out of Happy Heart Panic's city of perversions, and fears without her she is hopeless.

The fact you have to cast dark magic, on a poster showing a closet is also quite damning; it's obviously a place of trauma. Once again it most likely references an area in happy heart hell.

Updating Areas with dozen of sub areas PLUS introducing lore from Happy Heart Hell? Excuse the pun, must be helluva job for one developer alone.
