Hard choice RPGM or Renpy

So the game i wanted to make would have been perfect for unity, however after having problems with scripting and 2 days of the the issue which no one seemed to have been able to fix i have uninstalled unity.

I mostly play the renpy games as i prefer the click and point games, i was trying to make a click and point management game with some small open world concepts. I had the basic level designs done but even tho there was no issues with the scripts they just would not work with unity even tho all the settings were correct.

Im asking because it would still be possible with RPGM but have no idea how i would get the sex scenes to work considering i want a 3D animated model but have no idea how RPGM works. (with no funding i would need help finding free textures and models)

I have a basic idea of how renpy works however i do not have any way to make the visuals for the gameplay and there would be no actual sex scenes until i had a form of funding.

Why did unity have to rely on 3rd party software

Im not sure if this will help you at all but i am currently using Renpy to try and make a game. With Renpy you can look at other people visual novel code making it less of a total pain in the ass to figure out everything. Also for the images i am using DAZ Studio and it is very easy to get the hang of once you get the lighting right. Im not sure if this is the best software to use but it seems pretty good. If your willing you can use one of the free models as a base and edit it to make it into something that your looking for.

With Renpy you can look at other people visual novel code making it less of a total pain in the ass to figure out everything. If your willing you can use one of the free models as a base and edit it to make it into something that your looking for.

What are the models you can get for DAZ Studio? I was thinking for renpy i could use blender as it is capable of making scenes with a hole bunch of community made models, the only issue with that is my laptop struggles to handle it and it is very complex for beginners.

There is tons of models posted by the community. Some are free and some you have to pay for But there are 35380 Items posted by the community. This ranges from environments to models to clothing to poses so its pretty much all there and its even better if you have some money to spare. For example one of my favorite Visual novels "Where the Heart Is" is made completely in Daz 3D. now i work on a computer so im not sure how well it will run on a laptop and on my computer it takes about two minute to render a image but it is so easy to learn (at least for me) if your willing to put in dedication and effort and if you can figure out the lighting your pretty much set. i haven't been using it for that long but i already love it. Most successful porn games are very time consuming and cost a lot of money but you get what you put in. Here is my recommendation to you. Buy a computer that runs at a decent speed and post your games demo on sites when its ready for feedback. you can use this to change or improve your game without getting to deep in it. I would also start a patreon for funding once the demo comes out and i would maybe find someone to help you cut down that workload. (That last part is optional but if you find a partner that is just as passionate as you it can make it easier and more rewarding). hope i was able to at least be of some help but i would definitely use renpy to make a visual novel game.

I have installed DAZ 3D but am unable to find and nude models, how do you usually find them?

No problem. I will try to help you in any way i can. As for projects i am not dead set on one and i dont know what im even interested on making yet but i can Help and/or give feedback on your game. However i will warn you that i might not be very active since i am in between jobs Because of corona virus. This is one of the big reasons i have not started on a game yet since i am not financially stable and i dont even have time. Between figuring out how to code on renpy and trying to make models with Daz 3d i am unable to start my game yet. Also the default and pretty much all models are nude but lack genitalia. Renderotica.com has a bunch of add ons to Daz 3d for erotic content such as genitals and nipples and such. But you usually have to pay for the better stuff and you have to copy the files and paste them to Daz 3d.

There is some free Women genitalia but no free men genitalia. but there is a ton of stuff on the sight. i plan on spending money on it as soon as i get a job.

Renpy + DAZ is a pretty good combo. NLT has taken RPGM and done some impressive stuff with it.

You can also try Godot.

But basically if you have a Map that your character moves around then you are probably better off with RPGM.

In the end I went with renpy however its only going to be a prototype to see if people like the concept of the game, going to make the basic story and design for the game, if i get enough donations for the game ill have the funding to go all out on it.

Half of the intro cutscene has be written and a few map and character place holders have been too, just posted a thread to ask how to get the my character out of Daz 3D and into Blender.
