Harem vs True Love

I'm not sure how to answer this. I'm inclined to say that I like harems more, because mostly they're designed for people like me. People who for example watch Naruto or SAO and then fantasize about each girl. Games like Jikage Rising or Shiny Days give me options, so I can pursue whichever girl suits my current mood.

But I actually don't play too many harem games. I've played more of the one-on-one cohabitation simulators like Raise a Happy NEET and Imouto Life. I really like the interactivity and being able to create my own story with her. But I don't play these types of games for romance or true love... I'm just trying to lewd her.

In general I'm not really that interested in the romantic part of eroge, but I can get into it if it's something like School Days or Shiny Days.

You're saying the love for the 24 girls I'm banging isn't TRUE?! HOW DARE YOU-

For real, though. If we're talking adult games specifically I prefer harem games. Mostly because in those games the MC is pre-written, so the whole true love angle doesn't hit me as hard. I can't really form that deep connection with a single character when I'm just riding along someone else's personality. There's only so much I can self-insert lol

That’s why I'd rather explore different girls, see their stories, dynamics... that's the fun in harem games for me, variety is nice!

If we're talking about RPGs, where I could build my character from "scratch", let's say Cyberpunk 2077 for example, where my decisions and my gameplay style can have more influence in the world around me, then I'd look for a single partner.
