Have porn/adult games ruined "regular" gaming for you? (ramble)

So first off, my name on this forum says it all. I love nude mods. I've loved them from the first "nude cheat codes" I can remember on some wrestling game back on Playstation, to the infamous "Hot Coffee" cheat that let you rail your girlfriend on GTA: SA, to nude Zoey re-skins on Left 4 Dead, to countless years on sex sims in Secondlife, and everything in between. I've found myself looking for adult mods to nearly every game I've played since I was in my teens into adulthood.

But when things REALLY changed was when I first started adding sex mods to my Fallout 3/New Vegas, and subsequently, Skyrim. That's when gaming was forever changed for me. Perhaps the easy answer as to "why?", stems back to a long term porn addiction paired with a long term gaming addiction. Two addictions merging into one perhaps? But that just feels like an easy answer to me. I think ultimately what I really want out of my games is that freedom of choice. Playing Skyrim, with all of its quests and lore and NPC interaction is already quite immersive. But when you add in the ability to prostitute yourself, or have sex with the person your character marries, or you're able to walk in on 2 NPCs fucking in their bed when you try to rob them late at night...It just adds a certain level of realism and player freedom that I now crave in all my games.

That being said, I have a hard time playing games that should have adult themes but don't because of societial norms. Games like Fallout seem wrong without sex or at least nudity in them to me. (Edit for clairty: Obviously driving games, or games like Minecraft don't need 'adult' mods or content. I'm talking more about games where it could feel natural in.) Even games I've looked forward to, I find my interest fading fast if I know there's no adult content to be found in the game. Such as The Outer Worlds, which is a game I looked forward to and I've enjoyed a lot...but it's completely sexless, and with no nudity to be found, even though the setting is perfect for it. The fact that it doesn't exist at all just makes the experience feel hollow to me.

In a real life world of sex-demonizing prudes, my gaming time is my escape time. And being an adult, I want adult experiences in my games. There's just such a lack of quality adult content in the mainstream, and so I'm super glad communities like this exist. It's a big reason why I often blast shitty devs in our community, as our little underbelly tribe here should be watching out for each other and wanting to produce quality content, not dragging it down lower with scammy business practices.

Anyways, I'm not really sure of the reason for my post here, other than hoping to hear that I'm not alone. Do you find it hard to immerse yourself into games without adult themes, as well? Does having the option to take adult routes in games matter to you? Just seeing the uproar of normies to the news that Cyberpunk 2077 will allow you to modify your genitalia says it all. When I read the news, I thought, "Great, that'll be like the Skyrim Customization mod!" I hope the game doesn't stop there with the adult themes, either. But the reality is that now people are boycotting the game already because it's being "sexualized". It's why I like the f95 community so much, and why I always push for it to be even better. Because sex and nudity in games shouldn't be such a taboo thing, and people coming together for their love of adult content is pretty cool, IMO.

Personally I have never thought of a car in Forza for example being erotic myself. Even after playing porn games, I have never felt the urge to rear end a car in game and imagine going in dry on its exhaust. Maybe I am different and can actually distinguish the difference between a porn game and a non-porn game.

Not really, my adult gaming is mostly restricted to Renpy VNs, whereas I'm more inclined towards JRPGs, WRPGs, action adventure, 3D platformers and the occasional 1v1 beat-em-up.

There's very little cross-over.

oh sheesh. lol.. obviously a driving game isn't what i'm referring to. i thought that was pretty obvious, by mentioning fallout and skyrim and cyberpunk. i'm talking about games that have choices, open worlds, and/or scenarios that would warrant adult content. i guess i didn't clarify that enough, i just thought it was a given based on what i wrote. guess not!

I'll edit my original post a bit to make it a bit more clear for people who read what I wrote as me wanting nude vehicles and sex mods for the Lego games.

Definitely not. I've always valued immersion very highly so I never used nude mods or something like that. In fact, for this exact reason I despise overly sexualised content in "normal" games. It often feels forced and childish and frankly kind of embarassing. Playing Tomb Raider with a naked Lara for example would never accur to me as it would totally ruin my experience with the game. Playing Goons Raid Her on the other hand is something I thoroughly enjoy.
That said, I wouldn't be against adult content in "normal" games if it would blend in immersively. That rarely (or never) happens however.
For me, more choices and freedom=more immersion. For example, once I modded my skyrim and I was able to find my character violated or drugged after losing a battle, that shit got REAL. I'm not really talking about hokey nudity for the sake of nudity being what I'm drawn to, but adult content when it's done right, in a game world where it makes sense, there's no comparison. Your last sentence sums up exactly what I'm looking for in games.

I've been playing games with erotic content of major or minor degree, and adult themes and adult humor since I was a kid (Larrys, Leather Goddess of Phobos, some RPGs, graphic adventures and lots of other stuff. The 80 and early 90's were full of it.). Then in the ends of the 90's came a very dark age of "Only safe stuff in videogames". Luckily, is wearing off a bit. And you can slowly start to find some adult content in supossedly SFW games.

Maybe we do and we like with what we grew of, and that's why when I make games I tend to make games with nsfw content on it, instead of just nsfw games.

The Forza Horizon series is open world and so is many of the Need for Speed games.:p They also both have choices.

Not really, outside of porn games I mostly play fighting games, RPGs and shooters and I would much rather go to those games for when I'm just interested in playing a game. Most porn games have mediocre to awful gameplay and are carried by the pornographic aspect

When I'm looking to get off while playing a game, then I'd welcome adult content in my games, but after I have a wank or if I don't want a wank at all, I hate seeing the adult content there. For example, I'll play one of these games and jerk to them, but once I get off, no matter how compelling the gameplay or the story, I stop there. It's just really fucking weird seeing gratuitous amounts of nudity and sex without getting or wanting to get a stiffy. Same reason I hate sex scenes in movies.

I've used nude mods in every Bethesda game since Morrowind. But while they held a certain fascination and I spent a lot of time lurking on sites like loverslab, sex mods just never seemed worth the trouble. Part of it was "modder's fatigue," because I always spent a lot of time with xEdit working out conflicts with regular mods and just couldn't bring myself to do that with porn mods. But also, most of the content that really interested me seemed to be written primarily for female PCs.

If holodecks or "full dive" VR existed it would probably be a different story.

I get bored of porn even in porn games. I start skipping scenes after a while, usually because they're too vanilla for me. I got a bunch of mods for Skyrim that I never use because they're too jank/finicky.

Not at all. They're different experiences for me.

I don't want random boobs popping up when I'm trying to game. I don't want to have to spend 2 hours on a quest before I see any boobs when I'm up for a porn game.

It did have some effect on my games but i woudnt say ruined.
More like:
Dispointed at the limetations of evil choices.

I like to be able to be evil in games.
So that being a good person is accauly worth something.
I believe that without the ability to be evil being good is meaningless.
It is called the temptations of evil after all.
If being a good person was easy there woudnt be so many evil people in the world.

Now the thing is that after playing so many rape, corruption, mind control, slavery, etc, porn games.
I find that all the evil "normal" games allow isnt evil.
It is just being rude.

This bothers me because it ruins my enjoyment of being able to pick good or evil options.
For example:
Stellaris slavery is little more then workers with a higher chance to revolt.
Rimworld allows for canabalism(which is more disgusting then evil) and with mods allow for evil stuff like slavery(doesnt work) or mass organ harvest.
In pathfinder kingmaker you cant lie and manipulate.
The very thing evil people would do.

The problem with normal games is that the evil part is always very poorly thought out.

Porn games put more effort into making you see the suffering, the corrupting influence, the feeling of risk vs reward, of power struggle's.

In real life good has more substainablity then evil.
Evil loses because it is self destructive.
I wish games allowed you to be truly evil but at the same time made it so that it woud be short term games for long term loss.
Where good would be short term lose for long term gain.

Many people think they are good.
Few people think they are evil.
Yet those who think they are evil often spend more effort into being good then "good" people.

Typing this down made me realize that good often means selflessness and evil selfishness.

Yes... I will never play a game like Elder Scrolls unless whichever hot bitch I help with some ridiculous task (30+ mins in a dungeon) spreads her legs for the MC... she can shove those insignificant 5 Septims up her ass... Seriously the "Golden Claw" quest in Skyrim gives you 20 Septims !! A shitty Iron Dagger costs 500 Septims... fuck Camilla and her Brother !!

I'd rather say porn games and the culture around them have (further) ruined me for game studios. Granted most of the work was already done by the Starcraft/Warcraft 3 custom maps and Minecraft modding communities but seeing even something as publicly reviled as porn thrive from single passionate devs, especially the older long-standing projects like Super Deepthroat, Slave Maker and Legend of Krystal, really just makes me feel like modern AAA studios have nothing to offer beyond consistency in high-quality 3D art and the centralised matchmaking platforms certain genres need.

Closer to the angle the OP presented, porn communities in general make me resent prude "normies". I know enough physics and history to see the lack of sex in games as just one more nitpick on the pile (heck most porn games get it just as wrong with their horse dicks and looping cumshot animations!) but I just don't "get" how porn of all things is supposed to be this terrible evil when tiddy ads, music videos and dying "for your country" are fine or even seen as something to aspire to.

Regular RPGs ruined regular RPGs for me. The complete lack of sexual content is more disturbing to me than practically anything sexual that could be included.

Sexuality and romance is an important and intrinsic part of life. When such a large dimension is wilfully ignored, particularly in an open-world RPG setting, that means the developers are bowing to moralistic pressure from self-righteous prudes.

The shadow of Rapelay still looms large, and somehow "marketing" concerns are allowed to stifle any creativity in matters that are likely to draw negative attention from prudish old-fashioned people with political power. is a useful term for this.

A lot of games are not for children to begin with. And even in games for mature audiences, the tiresome insistence that violence and death is fine, but sex is not, is absolutely ludicrous:

Man graphically stabs woman with a carving knife, killing her – Violent and gory, but acceptable. Mainstream.
Man graphically creampies a willing woman – PORN! Ban it!

Man gets shot in the face and killed – Perfectly fine. Mainstream.
Man willingly gets a cumshot facial – Horrible, ungodly and disgusting. PORN! Ban it!

Well i only play Sims 4 because of all sex and violence mods + all the bimbo sluts i can make ingame. Also when playing open world rpg i like to have all the kinky mods possible be it violence or sex. Most of rpg nowdays are very bland and repetitive. I can not imagine playing Skyrim for example without all of the " special " mods. Maybe cyberpunk 2077 will be better, in the tabletop rpg books sexual themes were very common not to mention ultra violence.
