This is more or less what I meant when I mention furry animators who don't feel compelled to try to wrap their animations in a game. I think they're probably trying to avoid scenarios like that breeding game that collapsed and its follow-on: they don't want to let the difficulty of spinning up and supporting the "game" part getting in the way of monetizing their animation skills.
I mean, sure: it would be great for good furry 2D animation to end up in a good furry game, but nobody wants another quarter-finished boondoggle. God, look at how long What's-his-name has been stringing along High Tail Hall. Sure, it's usually pretty nice furry flash porn animation, but the "game" parts have never risen beyond alpha at best even when they're literally walking-around simulators.
Furry as a fetish is actually disproportionately lucky, I feel, to have reasonably good animators and folks at least trying for animated furry sex games. Look at the whole Legend of Krystal BOARD'S worth of attempts, for instance, to say nothing of the LOK Rebirth game itself. Yeah, very little finished product comes out of it, but at least it's animated unfinished product... which kinda conflicts directly with the whole "nobody wants another quarter-finished boondoggle" thing I said up there. I guess I want to emphasize the boondoggle part.
Separately, it's always interesting to me how popular furry content is almost always wrapped up in some other fetish. There's very little vanilla furry porn, relatively speaking--or at least it feels that way. It might just be confirmation bias due to the extremes in furry being so extreme. I mean, it's the furry community that promulgated the "hyper" definition for sex organs, even though that kind of stuff shows up in regular old porn art too.
Since I'm not a great fan of the anus and rectum (considered separately from the, um, meatus of the butt, which I know is totally incorrect terminology but I don't care), this one's not really up my alley.
