I'm creating my first video game, so I joined this forum to learn more about the community.

I have spent the last year learning RPG Maker MZ and general game development. It has been challenging at times as I can struggle with making a level look pleasing and focused but I know I'm getting better at it slowly. I'm also a little embarssed about my game because I want it to be good and I know it is not there yet but hopefully I can make something cool and people will like it. I will say its intimidating making a game because when I look around there are so many good H-RPG games now that I don't know if I can compete with any of them.

A couple tidbits about the game is there is a female protagonist with big boobs, red hair, and her name is Rose. There will be romanceable characters, some basic combat, and the ability to do more daily self care things.

I'm hoping I can get a playable demo assembled before August with a few cool side quest and stuff. I haven't released any visuals yet anywhere as I'm constantly redoing things whether its tearing down a building to rebuild it back up or changing whole streets around. I want to make sure everything looks cool and detailed even if its not perfect.

When I develop I like to mute the game entirely and play music. Some of my favorite playlist to listen to while developing are the following:

Trapping in Japan - Ryan Celsius
Deep Lofi - David Bulay

Thank you for reading my post and I hope you have a great day!

Hey there

Good luck with your game

Thank you!!! I'm working on some sprite work tonight to help make sure the pixel scenes are nice. Do you have anything you enjoy in particular in games? Whether its themes or general designs? I would love to hear as many opinions as possible as I work.

Hmm I do enjoy a good femdom game, a good plot is also a nice bonus

Other than that I enjoy a wide range of themes/designs

For Tileset I'm experimenting with Winlu Fantasy since the theme is medieval fantasy. Some tags related to the actual game include big boobs, dating, female protagonist, turn based combat, 2d art, and monster girls. There could be some planned cheating/breakup however I'm currently invested in making the first romance character and that stuff is put off till after a lot of things.

Recently I've been trying to develop some outdoor maps like forest, waterfalls, etc. Nothing is finalized because I still have a lot to improve upon but here are some screenshots below of some recent maps I developed.

I do struggle with designing and making maps but I know if I keep at it I can make something cool for now. I just want to make sure when people get to play it they can appreciate them. Tonight tho I work on learning the combat system more and testing out new formats for combat. I'm thinking something akin to other games where combat is turn based and moves can be sexual or physical and I do have some arts currently commissioned I'm using to test that out.

Honestly, been kind of tough making stuff lately. One thing I observed is that things will never feel right if they don't have a purpose. I wanted to make a shanty area of my city, so I created a dead end, but I had to try to give purpose to the road, houses, and people there.

I try to draw, then I redraw. I thought I had a good idea but now I see something of no idea. What I have now looks much better than where I started but that is not good enough. I realized today that I have to focus on a different approach working from the top down when it comes to purpose. I need to see what I'm lacking and it made me realize eventually an idea I want to try out for the introduction of the game.

So I'm creating a more on the rails area of the bad side of town to introduce a character, their goals, and some stuff I've been trying out for the combat system.

Here is the dead end I was working on during this time. Not sure I will continue to use it but it served a purpose of helping me learn my mistakes. 1745616692787.png

I haven't posted anything recently because I feel embarrassed, like I'm a terrible developer. I want to get better but sometimes it takes me a long time to create something only for it too suck ass. Here is Rose's bedroom. I have a few activities implemented here already and some prologue dialogue. I could appreciate some feedback if you are able to. The shoulder pauldron is going to be fixed on the avatar. 1749104793625.png

In one of my original post I shared a waterfall bridge crossing which in my mind I thought was cool. However, I can't even stomach scrolling up to see that post now because it sickens me. Matter of fact nearly everything I make slowly becomes indigestible in my eyes after the honey moon phase wears off.

This is the current waterfall bridge crossing in my game, there are some collectibles, dialogue, and a battle scene that evolves from this level. I have the battle logic mostly implemented meaning the enemies will grope, finger, motorboat, and flash her tits but the attack artwork for Rose like punching / kicking hasn't been drawn yet so she just stands still in place when attacking.

I'm trying to get attack artwork for Rose done so I can put it in a public demo but art is very expensive and the artist is very busy with other projects. In the meantime I'm working on revamping the maps I have, adding in some dialogue / story, and then creating some puzzles / collectibles. Also combat system is inspired by Karryn Prison but I will post it at a later date because I want to make sure I don't post something too embarrassing.

I'm hoping I can have a demo people can play and enjoy ready within the next 3-4 months. I'm not sure how long the initial demo will be playtime wise due to a variety of factors, but I will try to make it like possibly 30 minutes if feasible.

Avatar looks fine, the house looks a bit cluttered? (for lack of better term)

Welcome brother! I get what you mean. Showing the first look of your work in an established industry is pretty intimidating. Those guys have had years of experience though so please don't try and compare yourself to them. Use them for inspiration and not as competition.

I personally like your scenery so far! I don't play much RPG Maker games but I like your style. It gives me a darker Legend of Zelda feel. From the RPGMaker games I have played (albeit a few), yours has more character and feels "lived in" compared to the bland landscapes and long hallways in other RPGM games.

Take your time bro and enjoy the ride. Before I started on my WIP H-Game, I've never even considered me an artist. Now I'm drawing my own characters and sex animations in Krita to then animate them with Spine. If you would have told me that one and a half years ago. I would have laughed and thought your crazy.

We all gotta start somewhere man. Put yourself in new situations that make you feel uncomfortable and learn from it. You've got this! :)
