If your goal is to make a renpy game I suggest finding images online that are free to use so you can spend more time learning the program.

If you want to start learning art in a short amount of time for your game that's going to be another can of worms you probably don't want to get into unless you have the drive to actually learn it. If you want to learn how to draw there are YouTubers who specialize in teaching beginners such as " " and " ".

For art programs I recommend or but if your not a fan of paying there is always , .

If you're not a fan of any of this just trace porn lmao. It won't look as good but you don't have to learn, but its a half-hearted attempt so you might as well just find some images online that are free unless you plan to keep it to yourself then just find whatever is online.

A lot of the games on this site use There's a lot of helpful devs on the forums that have tips and tricks related to that, and there's "free" resources you can use to kickstart stuff. It takes a couple of days of hard work to get on top of it, but once you do it's not so hard... I'm using DAZ for Love of Magic, and I hadn't used it 6 months ago.

Hello Nerdskarlate:

I was in exactly the same boat! I'm hampered because I too have basically no artistic skills. I'm learning Python on my own after discovering Ren'Py.

The story came from one I read online and I contacted the author with what I wanted to do and he graciously gave me permission to use his work. Story content solved.

The next problem was art work. My first attempt used actual hi-res photos found on sites such as unsplash and pexels. I simply cut and pasted them together using paint (no transparency), paint3d (totally sucked although did a pretty good job at cropping out unneeded material), and gimp (which I began using almost exclusively after a slight learning curve). The results were ok, but took an extremely long time to create and the results, imho, were not worth the effort so my quest for better was on!

First was Blender. I found it to complicated to learn right off the bat and I only had 2gb of ram on this laptop.

Second was DAZ. I doubled my ram to 4gb and found it was also cumbersome, took up a ton of resources, and my graphics card can't handle it.

I went through a plethora of other software to help me create posable sprites. I then upgraded my ram to the max of 16gb.

One day, back in October or early November, I ran across an obscure piece of software called makehuman.

It was a EUREKA moment for me! It's a 3d sprite maker that allows you to create humans. Although the assets library is somewhat limited at this point ie clothes, hair, etc., it was exactly what I needed.

Between makehuman, Gimp, and Unsplash I published my first kinetic novel. With all of that out of the way, I am now working on chapter 2 and my coding skills.

Hope this helps and make human can be found at:

No problem! Maybe if I was smart enough to ask instead of just going it alone stumbling all the way, I would have been published way before December.

Then again, I'm on no timeline and had a lot of fun and met a bunch online as well! ;)

thanks for the replies as I am actually in the same situation : zero artistic and drawing skills :-D
On the other hand I have asked some professional models for shooting and now I am wondering if creating a game with real-life models is a good idea ?
My initial idea was to create a witch trainer loosely based on Akabur's, and I have started to dabble on it already with Ren'py, but I am not sure if I should make it to a publishable game...

any thoughts and feedback would be very welcome

the question is : is it worth creating a game with real models ? or do only 3dcg graphics have a chance ?
I am not even sure if real porn can be posted here ...

I have seen games that say live action, to be safe I'd ask a mod on discord though.
