Anywhoodles, glad to see that the next update will have some free roams that happen in Leto's vicinity instead of just being a flashback found by talking to a person with a heart over their heads.
I don't know, I quite like the little vignettes, I just think they should be used alongside the audio and visual freeroams that are there already. Most "heart" scenes already have a clue as to what is / has been going on, unless I'm misremembering. There's usually a sound playing, or an animation, or some prop in view or an interaction with a character. For instance, you can see the messed-up bed right through the window of the church on Wedath morning, and in the room itself there's something incriminating next to it. It's still up to the player if they want to view the scene or not, which to me is interesting in itself, but as I haven't played with the partial view for a very long time I don't know if you still get the hearts. Maybe they should not appear on that POV, or you get a much shorter, more suggestive scene as to what's going on, leaving more to the imagination.
In particular, the heart scene which activates from Leto's bedroom on Lundath evenings - there's two clues other than seeing the heart icon itself. The first is seeing Ulrod and Cyanna together in the window, and the second is that her apartment is locked, whereas before you used to be able to wander in pretty much any time you liked. There's also a guard posted there, who mumbles something about a boyfriend before wandering off. The scene itself is Leto being woken by a bump in the night, with Cyanna doing her best to keep it quiet.
Now, unless this is your first NTR game or something, seeing Leto and Cyanna's apartments being joined to each other you could quite comfortably guess as to what might be coming later. Now that we're there, having a heart scene next to the wall and a visual clue is just about right in my opinion. Since we're progressing further into the story, getting serenaded by Cyanna should hopefully become a more regular occurrence, and not only that, it should become harder to avoid. Perhaps soon there'll be no heart scene but a loop of Ulrod and Cyanna getting animated in the window - their apartment's locked - but when you go inside to sleep there'll be no escaping (or mistaking) the sound, moving close to the wall only making it louder. Later still there could be a heart scene, only this time, you have to find it by entering the now mysteriously unlocked apartment, following the sound (since you can't see anything in the window) right up to the door.
Does your Leto look?
Even if he doesn't, when you get back to your room it would seem Cyanna is no longer being reluctant to express herself, and also the bed's been moved, judging by the sound of the headboard crashing against the wall. The bedtime jingle gives a scant sense of repose.
I've read a lot of people claim that Leto is an oblivious soul, but I guess they're playing him differently than me. My Leto takes his guard job seriously and is quite perceptive of the happenings around him, especially when it comes to the ladies in his life. Indeed, he tirelessly investigates all the odd noises and writhing silhouettes that are to be found throughout the town, week in, week out.
