Proof of Life #256: More details on the next update

Heya you rascals, how are you doing in this fine morning/afternoon/evening? I know it’s barely been two weeks, but I hope 2025’s treating you well so far! If that’s not the case, worry not, for I have something to make it better! Yes, it’s another PoL! Who would have thought?
The past week has been spent mostly writing the script for the next update, and commissioning a whole bunch of stuff. It’s now 95% done. I just need to have the last 5% ready as well as write the two last scenes (I’ve already written the first two).
I usually don’t spend so much time writing early on, but as I mentioned last PoL, HC3’s main artist is going to be unavailable for a good 1-2 months before the end of this week, so I had to commission as much stuff as possible before that. That meant having a good grasp of the scenes, spicy or not, and which one would require what custom sprite to work.
Anyway, as I’ve said, I’m mostly done with that, and I’ve started development of the new update in earnest. It should go more smoothly this time since I’ve got it all written on virtual paper. I’m also pretty happy with what I’ve come up with. By the way, I’m trying to improve my writing by… writing less. Yep. The whole “show not tell”, as they call it. I’m adding some more symbolism as well, and skimming off some unnecessary dialogues. I’m doing what I can, because with low-details pixel art, it can get pretty challenging to show things without explaining or narrating them. We’ll see how it goes. The spicy scenes themselves will remain pretty much the same.
This update will contain a bit less scenes than the previous one, three in total (2 for Rose, 1 for Cyanna) and one extra scene. The extra scene will be Cyanna and Ulrod, and I’ll just adapt the whole “Cyanna picking her new swimsuit with Ulrod” idea I laid out in the last extra scene PoL as a flashback so people don’t have to replay through update 17 to see it. Since everyone will be back to the capital by the end of the update, I’ll probably be able to add 1-2 freeroam events as well. Not too many since I’m already adding a few mini-scenes for Haylen and Lily in this update.

Hey! Yep, I heard of this one. The issue was that the arrow tile would transport Leto to the wrong version of the map (there's a slightly different version based on if it's day or night). Did you use the latest bugfix version (fix2) or one before that for Update 17?
How many more updates before the game ends?
Any speculation?
I wish to play the game once all of the story is complete. i was under the impression that the game will end by decemeber but seems like a lot new stuff was added....

Well, considering how i just learned about the existace of said bugfix, i'd say i have the one before that. The last time i downloaded anything from your Patreon was about 2 minutes after you uploaded the link for the $9 version of the Update, so yeah, i have no idea if it's working as intened in the bugfix version, but the original IS fucked up, that's for sure.

The last time i saw N_Taii talk about this was a few months ago, maybe September, October or around something like that, when someone asked a similar question and N_Taii's answer was that his best guess is Q2 of 2025, or around in that ballpark at least, which sounded insane to me even back then, and it sounds absolutely insane to me today still, even if it was just a guess from N_Taii.
I'm a bit torn when it comes to this cause on one hand i'm looking forward to N_Taii's next game with the upgraded pixel sprites and everything else that comes with a new Chapter, like new characters, new story etc., so i kinda want HC3 to finally end, but on the other hand the last thing i want is for HC3 to end prematurely so that N_Taii can move on and work on the next games before the end of this year.
It's kinda hard to speculate on the remaining lenght of the story because N_Taii can stretch that out for a relatively long time if he wants to, or do the exact opposite and wrap up the story fast enough to where we could be 1 Main Story Quest away from the endings, and so whenever this topic comes up i only talk about the corruption of Lily and Haylen, cause their stories are purely there to progress their corruptions, and they're separated enough from the main story and each other to where you can kinda give a fairly decent estimate on how much is left of their stories, and MY estimate for that right would be that, before we reach the part where the endings start coming in, Lily's gonna get 2 more Quests and Haylen's gonna get 1, which by the way, i wanna make this clear before i continue, is only what i THINK is gonna happen, not what i WANT to happen, in my ideally paced, perfect HC3, Lily gets 3 more quests, and Haylen gets 2, however if N_Taii wants to finish this game before the end of 2025, then 5 more entire Updates for the 2 side characters is just straight up not happening, even 3 is pushing it cause in 12 months N_Taii can make up to 8 Updates at best, and 8 is me being generous cause in 2024 N_Taii released 6 Updates altogether, Update11 came out in February, and Update 16 came out in October, not that i have any problem with that, N_Taii should work on each Update for as long as he feels like he needs to, but every time he talks about the final release of the game he seems oddly confident in that this game is going be completed before the end of the year, and with the 4 separate endings, the side characters with their own stories, and the remaining main story that's gonna lead into the endings inevitably, i don't know how that could be done within the next 12 months, and again, i'm not saying that it can't be done, i'm just saying that me personally, i don't see it being possible, at least not without rushing the rest of the game, which is something that i really don't want to happen.
Although i'll say this, i've been meaning to make a post about this ever since i played Update17, but it's actually such a major spoiler that i decided to wait until the public release cause i didn't want to spoil it for others. I'll mention it vaguely cause it has a lot to do with what i've been saying above, but i'll keep it as spoiler free as possible. So at the end of Update17, Cyanna sees something that she most definitely should not have seen, and my first though when i was playing that part of the Update was that this revelation on her part is actually like very very very endgame stuff, and it is something so huge that i feel like Cyanna's not gonna just keep to herself for very long, and that this is gonna possibly blow everything up to where we could be seeing the story reach the part where it diverges into the 3 or 4 separate endings by the end of the next Main Story Quest, the one that's after the beach stuff that is coming out right now i mean, so maybe i'm just very very wrong, and N_Taii can easily finish the game this year....but i just don't see it.

A perfect ending for me would be if all the scenes that were planned between all the characters before those damn double standards of what is right and what is wrong were raised, honestly in my opinion they limit too much what the game developer can offer and what the players can get, it is really frustrating and sad :_C

Interesting. So there is a chance that the game will end in 2025. Probably there will be only one ending - NTR.
And then in 2026 there will be other endings.
Like in the second part, where at first it ended with one ending, and then three endings were added.
Anyway, it turns out it’s better to wait a little longer.

To each to their own i guess, but i do believe that the HC games are much more digestable if you play them Update by Update because of how massive they are by the time the whole game is out, not to mention all the optional content in-between quests that are easily missable if you're blasting through 13 quests in a single day, eventually you're bound to miss content you would've seen otherwise playing like that, content like freeroam events, card games, full body portraits or even extra stories.

Is it pegging though ? I thought pegging required at least 1 male rectum, and i'm fairly certain that the Red Rocket that Rose is wearing in the PoL is NOT going anywhere near the Duke's rear.
Afaik, pegging applies to all genders as long as there's a strap-on involved, but it's more commonly used for female on male action. HC3 is almost exclusively female on female though (I say almost because you never know what could happen later).
