RPGM - Completed - Henteria Chronicles: Chapter 1 [Up.6 Fix 2] [N_taii]

Way too late to the party, but I decided to go on an NTR games streak, so why not start with the one I haven't played but have seen a lot of?

Story - 4/5: The worldbuilding is actually the strongest part of the game, with some interesting plot twists and cool tidbits of lore. However, I found the blackmail part to be pretty lazy.
Characters - 2.5/5: I'm very conflicted about this. On one hand, it's cool that the author gave us proper backstories for the characters with decent pacing, and the characters themselves are pretty cool at their core, even if a bit basic for this type of setting. On the other hand, their dialogues, motivations, and interactions are really... stupid? It's like the author wrote the backstory and lore for the characters but forgot to give them any real personality, making them feel like lifeless dolls. Therefore, I couldn't care less about them in the end. Every time I saw Eleonora, I kept thinking, "So what's the grand plan? Just go with the flow till death?" It's like she didn't even try to do anything. Overall - a lot of cliche NTR-game tropes that don't make much sense. I like the main antagonist the most out of all the characters—easily the best written one.
Art - 1.5/5: Basic pixels.
Gameplay - 3/5: For an RPGM NTR game, as long as you don't make me do tedious and obnoxious stuff like useless fights that don't include mid-fight or after-fight scenes, it's an automatic 3 stars from me.
Porn Content: 2/5 Basically pure maledom. I didn't mind the pixel animation, although the "sexual scenarios" themselves were pretty basic.
FINAL - 2,6/5

One word to describe this game:
Surprising.

I was surprised how I liked the sex scenes even without any visuals (maybe I should try some porn-novels too...).

And it was surprising how good the story was.
There's definitely flaws. Pacing, for example, was a bit uneven. But it's the first work in the series and it already got a lot of QoL changes throughout development, so I can't wait to try the second game.
That should speak for itself better then any words would.

Henteria Chronicles: Chapter 1

Pros:

- Pixel NTR, not that many but a great combination when done correctly.
- Good attention to detail. (Muffled sex/Obscured sex)
- Believable heroine corruption as far NTR works goes.

Cons:

- Boring story.
- Generic fantasy setting.
- Text heavy.

HC1 is an ok attempt at the genre. Not bad and not good just...adequate with not much incentive to play it over once you remember all the reading you will have to do.

It's a great game you can't skip if you're a fan of NTR.
The story has everything that you want and as N_taii explains very well, the lack of a personality of the MC makes you choose from which perspective are you looking at the development of the story (to me it's the traditional MC cuck and it's great, but if you want to be the bull or noone in particular it's easy to enjoy that way)
The sound is good and adds a lot.
This kind of games that also lets you see some scenes while playing is very good, always a plus.
A month ago I would've not believed I'd like pixel art games so much, the story and sound make up for the lack of art.
Can't wait to play the rest of them, congrats to N_taii.

the writing and characters are good, but the scenes are lacking. i understand the direction but there's only so much you can do with 50 pixels on your screen. other than that the game is nice, it's not a slog to play and has some humour.

This game isn't actually Netorare, it's just other characters engaging in intercourse who aren't in any possessed relationship with the MC, he's just a peeping tom, so if you're looking for netorare, this fails to live up to it.

Lacking "options" to allow Always Dash and to change dialogue speed, leading to a long slog through obnoxiously drawn out cutscenes that will eat through hours of your time. There was no reason to make this with RPG maker as all actions you take as a player are essentially set in stone, it's mostly there for you to either follow instructions of blindly find the next portion of the game.

All around, a cute concept that fails to meet its tags, and blueballs for hours on end.

Well I finally came around to playing this game, I wanted to wait until the second one was finished but I went 'screw it'.

I was not prepared for what was to come.

Now I've played other NTR games and the two that stuck out to me was NTRPG2 and Thug (or dark) hero party and both left me while satisfied in different ways they also left me unsatisfied in others and that was with the story and their endings in that there was no way for a really happy ending.

Now I know NTR is about … well we all know what it's about, all other NTR games I played didn't make me want a direct sequel or better ending for the MC, but those games did.

And so did this one only I don't want a better ending I want a direct sequel but not an NTR one oddly enough.

The TRUE ending of the game pulled at my heart strings like nothing before and that just shows how good the creator is at creating their characters and story (that or I have no taste lol).

Every character was believable and relatable in some way and the beginning of this game despite the lack of porn is probable the best part of the game because it set's us up so well and the story onward despite mostly focusing on the porn it all came together in the endings.

The porn itself was incredibly well done and like the others have said the pixel cg on some of the scenes were l slight annoyance but nothing game breaking, the scenarios were hot and very few Hgames can make nearly every scene as such.

The map design was a bit to big and I wish there were some more teleportation points but it wasn't so big I felt like it hindered the game, I wish there was more to do then just go to point A to point B but I get what the creator was trying to make and the story and porn made up for it.

As I am just writing this as I just finished the game I can't deny that I would love to see a non NTR sequel to this game involving the True End where like the non NTR ending Casio come's back after doing what he had to do and living his life with the people he loved.

My head canon is after he finished what needed to be done he does come back and finally confesses his love for his lady and reunites with everyone.

Again just got off from playing the game and the True ending is still hitting raw.

All and all this was a great game that I recommend to anyone who enjoys NTR and good story telling.

10/10 won't play again there is only so much sadness one can take lol.

Compared to other no cgs game henteria is way better with a solid writing with good corruption scenes . Imo this is way better than ntrpg2. If u like ntr u must try this game if u dont mind a pixel based scenes

The benchmark-game of this genre!

Henteria Chronicles 1 takes pixelporn to a whole new level. Even Hanataka, who was the founder of this little genre and made great games in that sense (NTRPG1&2) can't keep up with the Henteria Chronicles any longer. The student overcame his master. And Henteria CHronicles 1 is N_Taii's first masterpiece. Definitely check out Henteria Chronicles 2, while some find it slightly worse then HC1 mostly due to it's longer intro, I find it actually even better then HC1 because it contains more content, better art and much better gameplay features.

Generally speaking: If you are into some kind of Corruption, Domination, NTR or Story-telling this might be exactly what you looked for.

Due to the protagonist beeing a bit dehumanized it allows for more freedom with how you want to play the game. Be one of the villains (Netori), or the protagonist (NTR) or one of the female characters (cheating) - you decide.

Generally this game plays more like a sex story, especially due to the pixel art. But because the allure of NTR is to play it out in your head the art actually suits the game very well. You can colour out the characters and the scenes with your own imagination. That makes the pixel art very appealing in times of games which feature very good graphics but bad story and story progression.

Pros:

• Character personalities - The characters in HC1 are very well constructed and different in their behaviour. Lady Eleonora is the ice queen that is not that easily corrupted, while Nestia is quite the naive little girl and the waitress is arrogant and committed. For me this is the one big aspect that is better in HC1 then in HC2.
• Story - Everything here is wrapped into an epic fantasy story. You really get to know the characters, their backstories and the surrounding world, making the corruption aspect of the game much more interesting.
• Corruption progress - The Dev is really good at pointing out how the different characters in the story are corrupted and when stuff gets sexual it feels really rewarding and in a sense realistic, even though its in a fantasy world.
• Attention to detail - be it with the characters, the world, the scenes. Everything seemes well-thought. You can feel the that the dev puts a lot of effort in this game.
• The Dev - listens to and communicates with the community a lot. Delivers in time, puts a lot of effort inside the games he makes, does not make any promises he wont stand up to. Very trustworthy!
• Soundeffects, music score - adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game and the different scenes
• Scenes - the scenes themself are very well done. You find short ones showing the corruption process and longer ones when a new step is taken. There could be a a lot more though!
• Art - the pixel art itself is actually very well done. There are a lot of special positions, animations and objects to be explored within the game (such as remainings of the sexual acts that happend). Still there is room for improvement. Also, I did not not like the big animated sprites, but you are able to skip those animations.
• No grind - a lot of RPG's tend to have fights and mini-games and tons of grind. There is almost none in HC1 and that's just awesome!!

Cons:

• Missing a good reminesence room/gallery - even though the dev provides saves and a save description, as well as a reminesence room, there are a lot of smaller scenes that are not covered by it.
• Too few scenes - The game was so good, I really felt there were too little scenes to be fully satisfied. I hope in the future N_Taii adds more content to his games. Because the content itself is great! Also the sidecharacter content in HC1 is very thin.
• Long ways to go - The maps are a bit too large and you have to spend quite some time to get from point a to b. Also you are totally lost without the walkthrough. That's something HC2 does a lot better for example by adding a quest menu.
• Gameplay elements - HC1 does not have a lot of good gameplay features, it is mostly a novel - which is great - but it also makes no use of the open world and the freeroaming aspect. Here HC2 has a lot more to offer. You can go and discover a lot of hot scenes that pop up while you are playing the mainstory line.

Final thoughts:
I can absolutely recommend this game! Give pixelporn a try and let your fantasy wander! And as much as I know from the Dev, he wont stop to put a lot of effort and thought into this game. He also listens to the community and polishes his game this way. Thats a wonderful combination. I really urge you to support N_Taii for his trustworthy and amazing work.

• One last thought concerning the development of HC3: Take the best aspects of HC1 and HC2 put them together, mix them really well and HC3 will be the best Henteria Chronicles ever seen.

I figured since I just reviewed HC2 I should do the same here.

Put it simply HC1 is the best RPG NTR game I've played since NTRPG (1&2).

The story (whilst a little over winded at times) is excellent, the characters are all memorable and designed very well.

The H-Scenes are great even if the CG were uneeded (thankfully they can often be skipped).

All that on top of three different endings offering incentive to replay. The only really downside is there isn't a 'happy' ending per say, bitterwseet would be the best description. However it's a minor complaint.

Though I don't think much of the sequel (which isn't in anyway tied to this game) I highly recommend playing through this.

5/5 for NTR Fans
4/5 for fans of story based porn
3.5/5 for everyone else (but why are you looking at an NTR game to begin with?)

Pros:
- Great endings, some of the most satisfying to an H game I've played
- Good porn writing

Medicore:
- Some variety of kinks available (BDSM) but otherwise surprisingly fairly vanilla for the vast majority
- There is gradual corruption from 50 to 100 that you can see, but the initial bump from 0 to 50 is near instant. Even by modern Tinder hook up sex positive standards, this would be on the fast end even in today's world.

Cons:
- Pixel art I found a bit cringe. The eroticism is found in the writing, set up, and audio. Note the audio can get repetitive if you are playing a long session.
- The premise (a butler for nobility) and screenshots of the manor seem really boring, but there's actually a war background story, so don't get turned off by it

I feel the sequel, Henteria 2, is a better game and it's good to see the growth and increase of publicity and patreon budget being put to good use. The stories are separate, so I'd recommend playing their newest game first and if you like it then try this one.

I've just finished the game and holy F did I really need this NTR story. Aside from the fact that it is pixel art like NTRPG, story, while a little weird with a bit of holes, is pretty great. But more importantly, it has a Non-NTR and True Ending! If someone played Thug Hero Party, you can use this game to clean your heart, just get the True ending! While it is a little cheesy, it is by far better having an alternative endings compared to it being full on stupid MC, especially since the dev seems to turn it into a series.

The NTR is also great, purely 1 on 1 without gangbang scenes, which for me, seems too slutty and less NTRish. While I do not like that there are several pairings rather than just having 1 NTR dude, which I prefer, this is already pretty close to my ideal NTR game. Added to the fact that MC is pretty much oblivious to it right up until the final arc of the game.

I was impressed by the writing and sound design - two main pillars of good NTR games.
The plot is pretty unique for NTR game, and uses the fantasy setting masterfully. The antagonist uses blackmail and NTR to further his goals, not to just have another sex friend\slave for the sake of it.

The sprite scenes are just there to spur your imagination, but they are one of the most graphic I've seen as far as RPG maker sprite assets go. Plus some additional pixel animation were nice surprise, though serviceable at best(definitely needs some work in face department). Add to that good sex sounds and you get pretty hot scenes. Would also love to see more variety in audio assets, especially for different characters.

I wish the dev all the best, and definitely hope to see some more games in the future.

woww just played through the whole game and i can't wait for the next update that contains the final endings. to anyone thinking this is just another rpg maker ntr game where the wife or crush gets corrupted and blah boring blah, but NO! this game is actually very well written and the characters/story is super awesome, you will totally get sucked into this game.

I finished update 4 and thought I would write a review (generally spoiler free) here since N_taii frequents this thread quite a lot. First of I wanna start by saying how cool it is that technology has gotten to the point where a game that can be enjoyed by an infinite amount of people can be created by a singular person, and that interaction with said creator is as easy as it is. This is mainly the reason why I bother with blogging my opinion here. And take it as exactly that, just a dude's opinion.

- tldr; The game is great -
The setting is interesting! How often do you play RPGM games where the setting leaves no lingering feelings of a particular atmosphere, or doesn't have memorable moments outside of the porn. Me? I played a ton of those games. I often find myself downloading the same game, only to realise I played it through before and forgot most, if not everything, about it. The case with Henteria is the exact opposite. The setting is kept simple, a fantasy land where wars between humans (in addition to other beings) and demons have raged for hundreds of years. The game avoids the trap of bogging you down with unnecessary information that you will not remember in the beginning. A trap many RPGM games fall for. Instead the game gives a nice, easy to grasp introduction, and most worldbuilding happens as you progress through the game. The world building, when it happens,is presented in a way that feels natural and makes sense contextually within the game. Good work on the setting and the story, and how you go about presenting it!

The characters are mostly great. The biggest and most obvious "flaw" is how the side-characters' introduction is dealt with. The additional story about Fayne and the boyz feel a bit contrived, because you are never properly introduced to them. Besides that the characters feel and act consistently enough. Character relationships work well enough, I would like to have seen even more interaction between the MC and the love interest. What is there feels a bit thin at times, but then again this might have to do with the opening of the game where you skip 10 years of character relationships. Also it comes down to personal preference. Not everyone wants to spend hours building a relationship in games such as these before getting to the sexy bits, I do. One thing that struck me as superbly handled in the game is how the main love interest and sister will want to spend time with the MC, and how that will then be sabotaged by others in the game. I took note of every time it happened and it felt as it should be, that there are other elements to the NTR besides "someone is being fucked next to you while you are sleeping." Of course these tropes are also in the game. Makes me a happy camper (!) that there is a good balance of both.

The writing is great. There are times it falls a bit flat and I would wish the wording was different, but it feels natural enough that these occurances are few and far inbetween. Example: How many times does the antagonist need to remind the love interest about the consequences if she refuses him? It doesn't matter a whole lot and I'm nitpicking at this point. Like I said it's great and it beats all the machine translated shit we've all had the displeasure to try and decipher so many times, out of the water. The humor works for me personally and the game made me laugh more than once or twice. A very funny game and the humor adds so much to the story and it's presentation. The game knows when to be funny and when to be serious. In other words, good shit.

What I would want to be different or hope to see in future games: The option for more mystery. I always considered the saying "less is more" to jive particularly well for me when it comes to games like these. I enjoy the mystery a lot and seeing only silhouettes and hints of what has happened, INSTEAD of the actual scene playing out, really gets me going. In that regard I recently played another NTR game that I cannot remember the name of, where you were given the option if you wanted to see what was happening in rooms past the doors. Making it so that you can only see what is happening if the MC can see it as well, is a concept I think definetly should be explored more in games such as these. Keeping the player guessing who is being fucked, if he is actually being cucked etc. To me? exciting!! The possibilities for twists and turns with this formula seems too great to pass up and I hope we see more games of that nature in the future. (imagine a scenario where the game makes you think you are being NTR'd, but then gives a reasonable explanation as to why you were not, leaving you to not know for sure. IMO this could add a completely new dimension to character relationships going forward. I think you get the point I'm making by this)

Ending thoughts about NTR in general: I quickly looked through N_taii's patreon and came across his arguments as to why he considered 1v1 pairings to be important to him, as opposed to having love interests being gangbanged by the town etc. I disagree. My personal thoughts on why the gangbang trope is so popular in NTR games: I think has to do with making the MC and player feel like total losers. I consider the idea that everyone is able to fuck your love interest except you, to be at the very extreme end of NTR. Going down this route might not always be the best, who knows, but I like it. It worked for me in NTRPG1 and 2 towards the end, and I want more of it when possible and when it is handled correctly. And at this point I believe N_taii would handle it masterfully. That said it's his game and his story, and would not want to comprimise any aspects of it to see my own ideas crammed into the game.

Really good ntr game.

Pro:
- the story is good and unique you don't have your average "Hero goes to fight the evil and the bad guy fuck his loves one while he is gone" You are actually there living the moment with them and see it happen

- The map is huge and the fact the dev put a speed button it's really nice
Sounds and pixel animation are both good

-Tips, a lot more games should have an npc who give the player tips about the mission when he is lost

I thing a contra can be the lack of scenes and characters but this game is still new so it has plenty of time to add more.

overall a really good NTR game

Great unavoidable NTR. If your big on implied NTR where the character doesn't see it, then you'll like this game. Checks all the boxes with story, character development and flow. Feels natural and not like it was just thrown together. Since a lot of other popular and successful NTR games have to go through translation, the dialog is sometimes a deal breaker. Not here.

There are too few games like ntrpg and this one does a good job at it. Also not afraid to do unavoidable ntr (ntr that is avoidable is neutered (also becomes more of netorase, as you chose it) and devs that do it just want to please everyone and end up pleasing no one).

Pros:
- The game indeed "is very similar to NTRPG and NTRPG2"
- Having a walkthrough is a tremendous help
- The ability to Run without holding shift saves a ton of time
- Help pixie is nice touch
- Complex characters, interesting story, multiple storylines
- Lots of humor and jokes
- No "death screen". Player is just reset to the begging of the puzzle

Cons:
- Much grind without the walkthrough (at least for a person like me - easily confused in non-linear storyline). Assuming ch1 will be without a walkthrough for a while.
- Valkyrie (a brute ruthless legendary warrior) turns out to be a posh, stickler for etiquette noble lady. Those two polar opposites took me out of the game a bit.
- No promises of engagement between Eleonora and Casio. It is not cheating, if there was no commitment in the first place.

Overall, it is clear that the creator put much though and love into the game. Very pleasant and fun experience.
