I just tried the game, I still didn't finish what's already done. I just "broke" the curse over Cecillie. But I have to say this: I found here some of the best written dialogues I have read. Of course, I am not a native, so maybe I am overestimating the quality of the structures, however, at the very least the ideas behind every line are fascinating. It feels so real, it makes the characters so gray... I mean the main ones.
This game is BRILLIANT in so many ways related to the writting. The situation presented seems very simple, it's barely explained at all, the author is in a hurry to bring us to the "good stuff". At first I was reticent to play such an unfinished game.
I wish I tried it before. It's incredible. Really. I admire the writer and I wish to know more about him. If this was a common novel, I would stop reading to look for information about the author, other books he has written, etc... Since this isn't a common novel, I am here, asking about that person to you.
I really hope he can finish this because this stuff is very special. The pornographic aspect of it, is irrelevant. It's the characters. The characters are so great.
I want to compare it to other adult game with freaking great writing that is so underestimated: Sanguine rose. Sanguine rose has not very good reviews on steam and I recognize the game is short and barely can be called "game". It's a short novel. It's not even trying to be too hot, the drawings represent the characters and the main character pretends to make the player feel uncomfortable, her drawings represent that. The writing in that game is much more humble than here, except in a few huge scenes, like when they catch her in the woods (I won't give details to not spoil the game). That game could have done something similar with the characters, it wasn't because of lack of talent from the author... it's just that not knowing was very important for the story there. The player had to suspect from everyone so in a first glance, he couldn't know so much about the characters. They had to be mysterious.
But the suspense was great. The suspense was amazing, Tarantino levels in that scene. The dialogues were incredible.
I think this game has the capacity to be much better than that one, the dialogues are as good, but due to the nature of the game, due to the mechanics involved, there are much more of them. Much more of the good stuff.
Seriously, if the author is capable of making some good dungeon mini game that breaks a little bit the pace, add and improve graphics here and there... this game could become a classic that generations could enjoy and learn from. I don't think it would get huge reviews (the genre + so many people hate reading nowadays), but over time, I think it may become a cult classic.
Please don't abandon it. This game chould achieve the "high art" status sooner or later.
