It's not stupid at all; reading can and will be different for all sorts. I imagine the spread is even wider these days with phones and internet being such a powerful factor in ones life.
Short version, nope, not exactly.
Long version is below, if you are keen on suffering.
For me personally, it's just natural ability compounded by years and years of habit. Books were almost akin to a movie for me, so I'd nab a book from the school library and sometimes finish devouring it the same day. Not sure how much good this does as an example, with fewer and fewer libraries about. Yes, that also makes me older than most.
More specifically, so long as I'm not tired or forcing things, I tend to zip through stories and text. (If I *am* tired, I'll just end up reading the same chunk of text over and over again.)
Of course, you need to relax and enjoy what you are reading, too, which is easier said than done. Math makes me go full unconscious in nano seconds, for example. Never was a great student, haha.
Some text is just frucking dense or difficult to read. Such as older material, or blogs fromthosethatdon'tbeliveinusingactuallyspacesbetweenthingsbecasusetheyarelazyandmonsters. Or typo hell.
For those situations, I tend to try to go a page or two, then pause, and asking myself 'what the hell did I just read' and try to make sense of it all.
Regarding technique, maybe that I tend to read stories with a 'voice' - when there is text, I kind of read along with my own personal narrator in my head, echoing the words. Sometimes it's fun to imagine how this character or that sounds.
Lastly, late night studying can and always will be a thing, but forcing the text down, no matter how well written, spicy, or lewd, rarely works for me personally. I gotta have half a functioning brain cell, not be completely exhausted, and I tend to have some water, tea, or something similar nearby to assist in concentration. A wee bit of chocolate can help too!
Not sure it helps, but happy to pass along my nonsense. Happy fapping schlicking reading!
