uh, spawn as many minions at once as you can. use up all your funds during the initial placement when they're 50% off. don't bother with the traps. spread your dudes around the map a bit, and use some variety when possible. I just beat the first level with initial placement monsters only. the ropers have plenty of health and decent damage. the worms/slimes kinda suck until you get bees/octopus to buff each other with.
