Hi, I'd like to ask for help with some questions.

Firstly I read the rules on several different topics in the forum and did not find anything that could make this post something against the rules.
(Games - General Discussion - Site News & Announcements and more)

I recently discovered this style of games and was completely in love with some. Especially those who demonstrate a more personal way of writing without so many clichés.

I am a semi-professional Portuguese writer.
What do I mean by semi-professional? I have written 5 books of which 2 have been published and had a good sales index for the written dimensions and were well received by local critics. I consider myself semi-professional because I've been in the market for a short time and I do not want to match up to someone who is 10-15 years old writing with such passion.

But why talk so much? After playing the game "The Intoxicating Flavor" I could feel the writer inside the game. It gave me an overwhelming desire to write and I started to write random things in my notebook and I came across a story that I would like to tell.
This is what I miss most in games a story that you can identify beyond the cliché of the boy that all mothers want to have sex with.
Which is kinda weird because I think most people expect these porn cliches, but even then I'd like to try to do something different.

Now some questions:

• Browsing the through forum I found MANY 3D models that I do not see in any game, extremely detailed with very well made textures. I even saw a site called 3D-load where there are MANY things that are not used in games. Why?
• Would there be any demand for a game made primarily by your writing rather than cliches and sex? (With sex of course)
• What do you expect differently in the production of a game?

I'm still in the writting phase and I'd have to learn how to program/create 3D scenes. But I think it would be an interesting experience in my spare time mainly because I would be exploring something new that I discovered and I ended up enjoying it so much.
As it should be noted, English is not my primary language so I make a lot of mistakes. I would hire translators for better optimization.

I'm sorry for making such a long post, but as you might imagine, I really enjoy writing. Thank you!

Well there's always demand for good stories in games, look at ours i.e. (signature image) the main reason people play it is because of the story and how @ASLPro3D wrote it. So if you have an idea and are good at writing them down, try it :)

As for the other stuff, I can't really answer :) Don't know the 3D-load site and there are hundreds of thousands of assets on the internet, some are good, some are ok and most of them are just crap that look good on a marketing render but are THE HORROR to work with :)

I for one don't go at a game with "any" expectations, I'll just go at them in a blank state, letting it all flow in and sometimes get surprised on how good some of the games/stories are and sometimes just get bored of them or don't like much of the content so I stop playing them ;)

I saw your game and it is on my "must play" list. Glad you showed up here.

About the models I said this site has dozens and when I entered I was extremely bewildered. I almost always see male model being the same as "Big Brother" and there have extremely well made variations.
I did not think it should be so bad to work like that with them.

I am happy with the progress of what I have written so far and I will try to put it into practice, thank you!

You're right, this is just lazyness and copy paste crap. I don't even bother to play games like that anymore, the story could be as great as a novel I still wouldn't play it, if the creator doesn't AT LEAST put enough effort into the game to "morph" or pose the characters better than the standard stuff or if they don't use original assets. Like I said, at least morphing them enough to make them look different is a MUST for me to play a game.

I think the reason why you always see the same 3d characters in different games is because the 3d character was/is in a popular game. And people tend to jump straight into what is already popular instead of taking a risk with an unknown character. Because truth be told, it's really easy to make a unique looking character.

Same reason with many of the storytelling. Especially in incest story telling.

It's really easy to make a unique character if you are 1) pirating, or 2) willing to sink a ton of money into the game, otherwise it is not at all, most people recognise primarily faces, and the basic Genesis bundle for Daz has next to no face morphs, so in hobby games it's going to look generic.

Regarding assets, the site you're looking at has £1000s of content on it, some people will pirate, if you don't, you're limited by budget as how many you can buy as therefore use. Then putting a ton of items into a scene makes the render time a lot longer. I render exclusively in Nvidea Iray, a packed out scene in 3Delight (which a lot of games use) takes 10-20mins, whereas a packed out scene in Iray takes hours, this means it can take a very, very long time to get things done, and one of the ways to speed it up is reduce background props.

We are not here to create good stories. We are here to find good enough tropes (excuses) make male fantasies believable. Even this requires good amount of creativity.

People using same models because daz having those assets. In 3d story telling business daz was top and to produce good results you have to use daz assets. Other 3d assets may found in internet does not fit well in daz.

Like you can copy paste part of shakespare works in you story and it does not make your story good. However if you had good writing skills you can use shakespare's works as templates and improve your work.

• Would there be any demand for a game made primarily by your writing rather than cliches and sex? (With sex of course)
• What do you expect differently in the production of a game?
I'll try to answer your question but it will probably look more like an incomprehensible ramble and just a leecher's opinion.

Let's begin by saying in my opinion writing a good game/VN and even a good book is different than writing a good story. You have to take into account the pacing and the writing (in this I would put the dialogue, tone, vocabulary and everything that's not the story itself). It might be stating the obvious but I feel like it's a good think to say from time to time.

Now that's out of the way: • Would there be any demand for a game made primarily by your writing rather than cliches and sex? (With sex of course)?

I feel like there is a demand for these kind of game even tho they might have an appeal that's for a time limited by your story. For example Depraved Awakening is IMO amazing the main reason it's a success was its pacing (of adult content), its writing , its original setting then its original story in that order. It's obviously only my humble opinion of course.

You can also have great game that are using cliché (Summertime Saga) but get by because it's somewhat well written and has a fun factor to it (almost all mini game are good and the CG are pretty great).
Another game I think used cliché nicely is "Where the heart is" where you have some clichés situations that are used smartly and it's supported by good to great pacing and great writing.
For these two game the story aren't that interesting in themselves (for now at least) but they're a lot of fun to play.

• What do you expect differently in the production of a game?

I think there is a problem inherent to adult game that is linked to the pacing of adult content that need to be adressed (but I can't do it in analytical fashion 'cause it's an art and not a science) you have to find the balance and it has to fit the tone of your story.
The pacing and writing of the story are IMO different than the pacing and writing of a book;might be closer to comics/manga/bandes dessinées.
And there is the problem of the technical limitation of the tool you use to create your game and the ratio work/usefuleness of the feature you'd like implemented.
I'd add that if you make your game sandboxy or with a navigation element you have a risk of fuck it up and lose people before your story even begins (ie:because your UI is trash nobody is able to play your game or it isn't enjoyable no matter how good your story/writing/CG are they can be fucked by horrible game design). Might be interesting to learn a thing or two about game design.
If you go the route of a "simple VN" you'll have to find a good way to make the choices matter.

Sorry for the wall of text, hope it was as good food for thought as I intended it.
