Hi. Need help brainstorming and expanding NSFW risk-reward mechanic based on Curses, blessing, etc. for game

Hi, I'm developing a NSFW side-scroller, souls like, roguelike, dungeon crawler, loot game with an emphasis on curses, blessings, afflictions, etc. it is in concept and I'm play testing mechanics, and wanted to tap into the community in the process.

Long Story Short:-

I want to create a game with more emphasis on the NSFW elements with risk-reward mechanics in the form of cursed/blessed items that cause NSFW effects and afflictions. I have ideas of my own but I want to tap into the community cause I like the idea of implementing that unique idea that would have been good to implement in the beginning, in the beginning, rather than later where it might even be too late.

Long Story:-

I've been playing hard stuck and succubus heaven, fantastic games but once you get good at the combat you can go through a run without seeing any naughty stuff, throwing of the balance. it becomes a game, no so much a porn game. so I want to create a game with more emphasis on the NSFW elements with risk-reward mechanics in the form of cursed/blessed items that cause NSFW effects and afflictions that do the same.

I have ideas of my own like an item that causes the player's breasts, any gender, to swell up and lactate. they can heal themselves by drinking/sucking the milk but the swelling continues and affects movement until they lift the curse/blessing. and or a curse that drastically increases your strength and overtime your character buffs up but with high lust the attack animations change and the character, out of the player's control, starts forcibly using enemies for release while tanking hits from other enemies, which can lead to death at low health and don't have control to get out of the way.

and afflictions like, if your not wearing armour, a slime can latch on your character's...reproductive organs, stimulate it, and when you coom it spawns a slime with some of your abilities and/or curse/blessing. essentially spawning mini-bosses until you remove the affliction.

if you steal these ideas....good, they would nice to play in any game and I have plenty more ideas I can use.

I want to tap into the community cause I like the idea of implementing that unique idea that would have been good to implement in the beginning, in the beginning, rather than later where it might even be too late.

I'd say this issue can be solved quickly if you decide whether the lewd mechanics are necessary to progress through the game or not. Is it like Karryn's Prison where you can choose to legit fight your foes and do a "Virgin" route, or become a slut with an alternative (read, sexual) way of dealing with fights?

At least, if you decide from the start that all encounters have to be solved through sex, you ensure that there won't be any playstyle that leaves the players blue-balled. Also you have to take into account whether you want to have an underlying corruption mechanic (many players are into that, but that sort of slow-burn isn't easy to pull off)

As for the brainstorming ideas, why not a curse/blessing that interacts with the types of monsters you meet? For example, triggering a curse that makes you cum faster with goblins and slower with slimes, or makes you take more damage from tentacles, etc. That should give the player some agency to change the way they approach the fights, how they prepare, etc.

Hi, thank you for your response. I wasn't thinking of these mechanics in terms of progress in this way, definitely am now. but was my thinking off? on the table now, this is a rouge like where you come back into the dungeon as a new character each time you die, and you make progress by the amount and type of loot you return with, which affects the armour, spells and abilities you go back into the dungeon with, as a new character or otherwise, to go deeper into the dungeon and discover more curses/blessings, enemies, loot, biomes/environments, etc.

The mechanics themselves where meant for moment-to-moment gameplay, sounds like marketing nonsense but hear me out. it's core pillars are combat and exploration like any dungeon crawler and looter would be, and more importantly, also a souls like. it's going to be challenging, you're going to get afflictions, you're going to get grappled, you're going to want to use those blessings to survive, you're going to want to take the risk and use those curses. to make it back with the loot and make progress.

I want those challenging moments of combat and exploration to be surprising and exciting to behold and play with in every single run, and make progress to experience more.

So, for example, I can have a corruption mechanic but I also want an affliction mechanic/meter that progresses with time and transforms the character in some naughty way and also affect gameplay, maybe even takes corruption into account.

Imagine a curse that gives the character wings that allows for increased speed, air dash, and a bit of flight, maybe long range combat. But as the curse progresses the feathers fall off and they start to resemble a succubus, slutwear and/or bimbo looks, breast straining armour, a visual feast, and as the curse goes further the health bar start to deplete of overtime and the player has to have sex to survive, forcing the player to stun the enemies rather than outright defeat them, have sex and recover some health.

That gameplay loop makes me think of Rogue Legacy, where every time you die you get to play your own heir, with each having their own traits, handicaps and strengths. That'd be pretty neat and I think there's a lack of roguelite/like adult games.

Some things you could consider with that direction :
  • Do you want to control a new, random character each time you die? I saw you mentioned playing as any gender, so let's say you try a run with a busty MILF and lose, could you then play a twink dude in the next? If so, you should probably think of a way to enable/disable some genders or body types so people who want to play only male or only female don't feel forced to do something else. Or give some sort of control over the "which character you play next" part.
  • If it's a roguelite, you could consider some permanent upgrades that'd give your player a goal over the course of the game. In Rogue Legacy's case it was a castle you upgrade with ressources collected in your previous run (whether you lost or won)
  • Be wary about difficulty. There's definitely an audience for hard adult games but many people (even those who aren't looking for a quick fap) don't expect to be challenged, so they may have a little less patience than vanilla games. You could always try having an Easy mode to address that, though.
  • All the transformation and customization sounds great, but you'll also have to worry at some point about how to actually get that idea into art. Are you an artist yourself, or can you afford to pay someone to make those sprites? You can definitely start with basic stuff, set up a Patreon and hope it kicks off so you can get more ambitious, but it's always a bet.
Anyway, I hope that helped :D The concept has me hyped so I'd definitely want to see something like that succeed
