Hello! I hope you're all well!
So... Once again I was flirting with ideas
... I should make a VN about it
...
This time I was considering the idea of a 3D character and, well, I ended up liking the result ._.
Although the initial idea was to mix pixel art characters with 3D backgrounds, this ended up becoming exhausting work every time an animation appeared.
Thinking about this, and obviously the benefits of 3D animation, I decided to try two things:
1 - Direct rendering in Blender with a resolution similar to what I was already developing, using a custom shader to speed up or replace manual pixel art.
2 - Exporting the model directly to Unity with the animations already in place, applying custom shaders and creating appropriate materials.
In the end, these two approaches yielded pretty good results and pleased me quite a bit... The second pipeline seemed more effective for creating and correcting new and old animations.
Of course, I'm not saying that 3D is easier or better than 2D Pixel Art (frame by frame), but considering the resources and especially the time involved, it seems like a sensible choice to pursue at the moment.
There are many things I'd like to work on in this project, especially the NSFW content, which I've been putting off for too long already haha (I promise I'll get to that next time
).
