Ren'Py - High-Rise Climb [v0.95.1.2] [Smokeydots]

Promising game, very polished but content runs out quickly without any indication that they've actually "maxxed out" also it's difficult to know what you're missing out on if you are just always a "nice guy".

This is by far the strangest game I have ever played. I used to not understand the idea of someone falls in love with a character, an imaginative character. However, Izumi changed everything, so much that I refused all other sex scenes. The conversation with her hooked me up so much that everything becomes bland after her route end, as of [0.5], also I did not follow her Fear path.

Story: Most story needs a main antagonist, Jack is not much one. I kind of hope some big bad thing is happening to Izumi and I can rescue her.

Originality: Creating and selling stuffs, investing, etc is new. If it some how turns into managing a firm without too much of grinding but more like envisioning the direction for the firm to go, and investing based on that with the help of some heroines, then this game would be something great.

Renders: Izumi / 10

Sound: Not that important, I like the idea of being lean and focus on most important part

Bugs [0.5]: -100% and 200% is still a thing

Animations: Not that important to me

Content: Wish that the game allows me to meet her parent, I can be a good husband and she will not have to compare herself with her sister.

Conclusion: Izumi is the best adult game heroine I have ever played. Her design and conversation is too pleasing. Due to the huge cast, Izumi has to stand in queue, which can be bad, but makes me want her even more. Hats of to SmokeyDots, please do not fall to the evil path.

I really like it. I do agree with other reviews that the all-or-nothing nature of the love/fear split does detract from the game overall.

Art's great, no complaints there.

Characterization's a bit flat, but I prefer it over the bombastic and unbelievable garbage you see in some others.

Nothing in the porn squicked me, and I appreciated that as well.

I'd personally love to see the ability to MC people into gaining new fetishes. Something on the order of GF's 3some idea > finds she likes it > poly relationship > oops I have a harem" would be amaaaaaazing.

TLDR: art and writing are rock solid, polish the love/fear thing and gold. Watched~

What I like:
First of all this game is visually stunning. The writing is decent and in proper english. There's enough stuff to explore and develop.

What I don't like:
The character development is pretty much Jedi/Sith with what (at least feels like) a huge chunk of the content being locked behind that wall. One of the MCs co-workers might be deeply in love with him, but he can't grope her titties because he needs her to fear him for that. This feels illogical and disappointing.

TLDR: Worth a look, won't throw it off my radar, but the strict love/fear barrier is a letdown for me.

I like the game und the quality. Rock on!
Overview:
High-Rise Climb is about Byron, a financial analyst who just recently started to struggle. Help Byron climb the corporate ladder to become the most powerful man in the world. What will you do with that power? Will you use it to help those around you, or will you like so many before you, get corrupted?

This is a pretty good game, good writing. It's clear the dev has some knowledge and/or he researched this area. The renders are nice though some of them are not completely original khmm *Bella* khmm. Still good writing, good renders, so why only 4 stars?

The dev keeps splitting the story between a million different NPCs and thus not enough happens with many of them to be able to care about them at all.

Just in the last update, we get introduced to four new NPCs on top of all of the others who were already there. This means that after a long-awaited update nothing at all happens with some previous NPCs and nothing substantial happens to many more. The content is spread out too thin.

Great game, but personally I would advise waiting for a few more versions, as of 0.5a, most of the routes are only half finished at best.

Also a note to the developer, if they read this: ditch the animations. They aren't very good and if you aren't going to put in the time to make them good, then you would be better served using that time to make a few more still images for the scenes instead.

Best 3DCG game for me so far.

- Lots of different girls to choose from
- Every Girl has its own physics
- Every Girl has its own character
- Not every girl has mega-boobs so everyones taste should be fullfilled.
- You are not forced to made up with any of these girls. You always have the choice to say: "No"
- You can avoid fetish scenes that you dislike (foot-job for example)
- The protagonist is not a fool nor a retard
- There are tons of fresh, unseen ideas in this game.
- This game is not a visual novel, you can deside what you want to do at any time. Going wherever you want and talk to whoever you want.
- You can decide yourself if you want to made up a bond with the girls or humiliate them.
- the interface is very clear, easy to handle, self explanatory and seems to be finaly polished.
- no "Let me help you with Yoga" no "Family Dinner", no "i crave for my sisters and my mom", no "Let me help you with homework" and no incest in general.

At current version (0.04b) there are lots of small, unescessary bugs and loose strings. But also it have enough playable content for at least 5 Hours or so. Also so the ongoing developement in animation is fitting me.

For me.. this is the best game after all. And I really checked a lot of them. Must be over 80 so far.
I cant wait for more.

This is far from a perfect game but im giving it 5 stars regardless because it looks like it is on a path to become one as long as it keeps doing what its doing right.

The plot is interesting and is one of the few games I have played whose plot , along with the characters, feels real. People ACTUALLY talk like real human beings believe it or not, and not like they have a gun pointed at their head nor like they are in a constant state of complete lust. The MC also feels genuine, and is not a complete degenerate/creep/moron like most other MCs. Bad choices should be less obvious, have stronger consequences and affect the story progression more, but they are not so bad at the moment either.

The models are SUPERB. Some of the best ones ive seen here on this site tbh. Not only that but everything in the background looks great too. On the other hand, the animations arent so great, with most of them being composed of literally 2 different frames/pictures put together subsequently. The big sex scenes' climaxes though are very well animated as far as I have seen.

The gameplay can be a bit grindy, expecially at the beginning. This is especially true with the way relationships are built, which requires you to be constantly chatting with people , clicking on the same things over and over again. However, once you start upgrading your skills it actually becomes pretty satisfying, giving you plenty of powers/perks to do things faster and more time to have fun. Each perk usually opens a bunch of other events and opportunities, which I find pretty fun to explore and discover. The game could use better perks to reduce the grinding even further imo, especially the chatting one.

Overall it is a great game. Some of the negativity here I suspect comes from people who did not play it long enough as to actually get to the good parts, as it does start a bit slow. Highly recommend it in its current state and I bet it will be even better in the future.

Dunno where people get 5 stars from but used to it at this stage.
Fact of the matter is, this is a poor game with poor mechanics but some great models. The story is lackluster as well and the grind ridiculous. The amount of content is minimal so far although the animations are okay, some really bad and others decent.
Overall I don't want to shoot it down so early in its development but it certainly doesn't deserve any better than an average rating so far. If I come back to it, it will be in months and only for a couple of girls to see what scene they may have got in.

The interactions really irk me in this one. Wrong topic of conversation does not only cost you time but it drops your score as much as a correct one would increase it. So you end up saving the game before everything you try to avoid the setback, which in turn makes the "wrong choices" just obsolete. Combine this nonsense with the irrational score requirements and you have a recipe for annoyance.

As an example take the girlfriend you live with, first interaction implies you had sex last night and it is a regular thing. But God forbid should you try to kiss her, she'll hate you for it. Your relationship is at score 20 but to have sex it has to be 100 so it's not a regular thing anymore. Uh, OK. Cheat mod might help, but ultimately it's a band-aid for for a broken leg.

-Writing: Excellent. Really builds a strong story. Minimal/No distracting text. It's meaty and worth your time to explore. There is nudity and sex in this version with many characters so it's worth a download and you time.

There are several relationships to be fleshed out in subsequent updates however the relationships that do exist are relatively shallow compared to novel style but very deep for a tasked based game. The Asian coworker is VERY WELL done and fleshed out Novel style. The character avoids typical stereotypes but still brings in cultural elements nicely as to give the character depth. This was really a standout for the writing, oh and she is hot and you can fuck the shit out of her (don't want to get too high brow here).

There is a dream sequence that I have no idea what the fuck it was about. It adds a fantasy element that I'm still not sure...well wtf is all I can say. This could probably go away altogether and make for a cleaner more coherent game. It was a distraction overall.

-Mechanics: Excellent. Easy to understand where to go and what to do with helpful hints etc. Couple of time I was lost but eventually figured it out. Several stat mechanics to build and maintain, most are clear as to how to increase and what they do for you. The task are not a grind which is just f'n fantastic. Finally someone has figure out how to make a tasked based game that doesn't grind! Appears to be two paths Fear and Love I guess. Not 100% clear what the two paths are yet. It seems more options are available via Love than Fear which is a bit of a bummer but hopefully get more fleshed out in future versions. Not many wasted one menu choice items but a few. Not enough to distract. Could use a skip button on a few sex scenes esp with the MC G/F. Some control of the sex scene but not a whole lot so that misses a beat a bit there.

-Rendering/Animations: All near the top of the industry. All the ladies are amazing with great variation. Tasked based game so the sex scenes can get a bit stale but are overall high quality on the initial run thru! I won't waste your time here anymore everything is really good quality.

-Fetish Stuff: Pretty mainstream stuff as of the latest update but it really really works well. My stuff isn't in this version but to be honest did not miss it b/c everything else was so well done.

-Overall: Fantastic writing, mechanics, and rendering with a few things to clean up and flesh out every gamer will be looking forward to future updates!

So far it is a very fun game. The only issue I have had so far with it is I don't know where my afternoon went. I can't wait to see the next part, and I hope you get around to it soon.

Truthfully I am a little confused on why I cant go shopping again with the girlfriend as it was my responsibility to arrange the 3 some. Also, I cant have fun in the office with Grace after I chose her for the promotion, however I can have sex with her in front of Izumi when I call them both in the office.

This game goes beyond the standard corruption model of most games as it impliments 'Relationship', 'Love' and 'Fear' meters to monitor your influence on NPCs, both can give you different options on tackling problems and your relationships.
Combine that with great potential and great looking models and you've got yourself a hit game brewing right here

Lots of options on how you want to go and what you want the relationships with each NPC to be. Mind control/influence aspect done pretty well. Sexy women and good, pretty logical, gameplay. Definitely looking forward to future updates.

Good renders and nice models. So far the story is kind of you're a dude working at some sort of financial firm and run into a quasi-Limitless scenario. I assume the dev plans on adding more substance to it. Some of the characters have a bit of background to them, so that is good. Overall, I would like this game more if it weren't yet another grindfest. It has an energy mechanic, money, relationship, love, lust, and fear stats. Of course body stats from the gym. Ready to take a shower and eat breakfast 50 times? Ready to see the same gym screen 50 times? When you are given the option to skip some of the sexier content because you've already seen it, it's a bad sign imo. I don't know if there's a pocket of gamers that like these stat pumping games, but I'm not one.

This game is great.
I love the characters and their looks are fantastic as well as their behavior you can interact with so many different. The talent tree is also a good idea. I really hope to see a lot of it.

I usually prefer 2D games or 3D with cel shading or cartoon-esque graphic, but this one is very good, not void like other 3d games, boobs seem real (don't defy the laws of gravity and are not fucking disgustingly huge) history is good and the upgrade system of the character skills isvery interesting, adding an rgp-ish element.

Still a very unfinished game but general framework, storyline/plot, characters are firmly established. Vast network of possible actions/consequences that can lead to many possible future scenes (lots of potential). Great artwork on the girls and the scenes. Love the storyline of a individual on the "high rise climb" however, again, still a pretty unfinished game, just with an amazing foundation and near infinite potential.
