Oh, sure, you have a point there, but this is what is obvious to
you, not to Charlies daughters. Anyway, this is what
we are being told by the writer.
What Charlie told her daughters was that she hired a security guard because there was some kind of a
crime spree going around in the neighborhood. Break-ins and robberies or something like that. So she hired a security guard to protect the house and obviously also everyone who happens to be in the house, especially for when she is away working somewhere and Emma is home alone.
This is what Emma knows and what Suzi knows at the time they meet the new security guard. The
crime spree is the reason for hiring a security guard.
And at the time Suzi finds out about the security guard being hired and him
taking over her bedroom (!), I don't think that a hot-head like Suzy has enough time to think about what Charlie said about the reason and question her motives. The single thought in her head at the time is that her room has been taken over by some "pervy old guy" and her mother has kicked her out of her room!
This is the only thing that she can think about then and for several days after that.
Of course it doesn't make sense later when the "security guard" starts to act as a bodyguard, following Emma everywhere and escorting Charlie on important events, but this is not what the girls know at the time.
Emma is naive and she won't give a single thought about her mothers motives or her words about hiring this "security guard", even when MC starts to act as a bodyguard for Emma, but this is also something that Suzy
doesn't know before Emma tells her about it
much later.
Only after finding out about it is when Suzi starts to realize that Charlie didn't tell her the truth about hiring a
security guard for the
house. Only then she puts 2 and 2 together for the first time, thinking now that there is something more going on, that Charlie wants to keep a secret. And since the MC keeps following Emma and acting as her
bodyguard, she and her roomie are thinking now that this whole ordeal must have something to do with Emma needing protection from something or someone.
This is what has been going on until now. Sure, Suzi isn't as sharp as Miss Marple to realize that there is something more going on sooner. She's young and hot-headed and really-really very angry, "The Hulk angry" at her mom and the MC. And maybe it's a bit of a
plot hole, but this is what we have been told so far by the writer.
Anyway, why do I have to retell you the story? Ava, have you been a
bad girl and skipping the text?
IMHO, from what I've seen, you seem to be a bit hot-headed yourself, compared to me at least. It may be one of the reasons I like you
