Tell this to Dark Cookie, who has made more than any other adult game Dev on Patreon with the OG incest game Summertime Saga.
Granted, Patreon changed the rules, and the game is just a milk machine now, but it was always intended to be played with incest.

Were they successes BEACUASE they had incest or in spite of the content?
That's the real set of questions here.
Largely speaking, pointing at 1 or 2 games being personal successes isn't really a good indicator of anything. Not least bc you're outright saying that it's just a milking schemes taking advantage of desperate fans of the fetish...
That's not really showing how profitable something is so much as pointing out how gullible and desperate the community is since the dev profiting is a leech that's not really doing anything with the medium.

I don't think there is really enough data to support or deny your argument. I know Incest is one of the most popular fetishes in adult games. Doesn't make sense to me that this would in any way financially hurt a game to include one of the most popular kinks, unless a Dev is worried about Patreon and just plays it safe, which is also perfectly understandable.
Either way, as long as there are Ipatches and games with family fun times, I will be a happy pervert.
