Not sure if this is the right spot for this or not but...

Been into VNs for quite a while now and just recently started messing around a bit wit DAZ.

I keep looking around for HS/HS2 related stuff but all I find is mostly that they are just a game with a character creator.

What I'm not quite understanding tho...

VNs like Eturnim or Projekt Passion are Honey select.... I'm assuming..... but everything I find character creation wise digging around online, I don't ever see anything that looks like the characters from these VNs.

Not to mention how to go about making a complete VN from the program.

What else is involved in something like that and how "easy" is it to get into and to create or reproduce characters like them?

First off, part of your problem is that Projekt Passion isn't Honey Select or anything related to it at all.

Eternum is made with Honey Select 2. In addition to having a character creator for the main game, all the Honey Select type games have a studio mode. In the case of HS2, it's called StudioNeoV2. The studio is relatively easy to use compared to something like DAZ and there are mod packs out there with a ton of assets you can get easily. That doesn't mean it'll have anything that looks like Eternum though. Getting to that level requires a lot of knowledge and practice.

You won't find the characters from pretty much any of the high quality games online, because the character creator makes it easy to make your own. All the games like Eternum have characters made by the devs. They aren't going to release them to anyone. You can get some high quality character cards from a few places if you just want to mess around with it or reverse engineer them to make your own. Again getting good at it takes some time.

If you have a spare 500gb or so on your computer and you like the art style you might want to try it out for yourself. You'll want to get the latest repack from ScrewThisNoise. That'll have everything you need to make the characters and use studio. How people are making games is just setting up the scene in studio and using the built in render function to make images. They then just use those to make a game like any other with Ren'Py or whatever their preferred game engine is. StudioNeoV2 makes it as simple as pressing a single key to take the render.

I'd recommend joining the Illusion Soft discord if you go down that route. You'll at least want some decent presets for graphics and people share there's over there. You can also ask the community if you run into any trouble with anything and get a lot of character cards.

Overall it's super easy to make something but getting good at it will take time. Also keep in mind it's very limited for selling it. You can only release on platforms like Patreon, SubscribeStar, and Itch. Never any place like Steam. Illusion claims copyrights to content made with their software and even after going bankrupt, Steam will instantly reject it. Anyway, not a dev myself or even an expert. Just someone that's played around enough to learn a few things.

Thanks.

I've only ever seen DAZ and Honey Select mentioned for pretty much everything so I guess I never really thought about there being others lol.

I don't have any plans on doing anything for any kind of public release stuff. It's mostly just to mess around with and probably doing stuff for my desktop backgrounds.

I will definitely be checking out the discord and now knowing the studio part will definitely help my searching :)
