Hongfire gone?

HF is like the long lost relative who hung out with you when you were a kid, then you grew up and forgot about him/her, and the next time you hear the name, it is at the funeral. So sad. I spent a good part of the mid 2000's there, looking for AGTH hook locations, english patches, HCGS, etc. Truly was one of the most (ironically) sanitized forums for me, free of trolls and scam artists. I will truly miss it. Maybe some refugees from there want to resurrect some of the old HF clubs from there to here...like HF-Loli and HF-incest, lol.

Really that is not the HF I remember, there was many members who tried to claim other peoples mods etc... as their own work. I cannot count the amount of times that I had to address the issue on the AG3 threads. There was also trolling as well, it is nice to look at HF through rose tinted glasses, but the truth is F95 is moderated far better than HF ever was. Then there was some members who also used reputation manipulation by opening multiple accounts so they could bump up the reputation score on one account. So all in all it wasn't exactly a bed of roses.

Hi, I just want to update everyone on this.

Shortly before HongFire went down for the final time, I started a Discord server for HF refugees at the suggestion of Hayeate. The server was pretty much dormant for the better part of two years, but that changed this past summer when several of HF's main posters finally started showing up and inviting their contacts. (Special thanks to Hurray for keeping so many contacts!)

At this point, we've tracked down over 50 members and are still trying to locate those who remain missing in action. HongFire (the person) hasn't been heard from since 2018 as far as I can tell, so the site is pretty much confirmed dead at this point. We are looking into starting a successor to HF however.

If any HF members are still here or come across this thread, please let me know. Even if you aren't interested in being involved with the HF community again, I'd at least like to get a roll call to make sure everyone's doing well after these last few years.

I was more a user and commentor than contributor, would be interesting to see the gang together but would it be better to get everyone together on one of the existing sites rather than have yet another?

It's been over 2 years since HF went offline and very few of the members that we're found so far seem to have actually moved on. There's also the issue of there not being any sites around any more that are all that similar to HF. I mean, you have sites specifically dedicated to modding adult games and you have sites dedicated to anime/hentai filesharing, but there aren't very many options out there when it comes to discussions - at least nothing that really feels similar to HF.

Both Nihonomaru and Sakurahana shut down years before HF. Those were probably the most similar sites to HF, although I know a lot of HF members wouldn't even touch Niho due to that site's admin acting completely inappropriate on HF prior to being banned and then repeatedly ban-dodging.

Then there were other hentai-themed forums like Hentai-Palm which also shut down years before HF went down. The 2010s weren't exactly kind to most anime/hentai forums in general.

Different, not even sure I remember what I used back then tbh. After the first DB crash I had to sign up again with a new name for some reason so lost my original to the fog of time.

Agreed there is no site like HF, ULMF is the closest I can come up with due to the release of Japanese games and the mods/translations. My favorite parts of HF were the anime and culture sections that were unique to the time as we didn't have much ability to share many manga, anime, music, and so on from Japan at the time. It was well worth it to hear about what was popular there and keep up with new/exotic interests.

Much of what made HF is more mainstream and accepted now, and I was more thinking that why split audiences and maybe find a fit to a place that has a ready audience and take advantage of that base and build up again.

Former Hongfire member here. Greatest loss for me was the tutorials and hongfire tracker(they had a tracker, right?). After HF died, I moved to Anime-Sharing. Now AS is dead too. I need to aquire new sources. Can you link the HF discord? Can anyone recommend H-game modding/sharing/tracker sites?

Former HongFire user DesertRoseWolf here lol so i wasn't all that active in the HF threads but i did use HF to download games mostly RPGmaker and other games and mods that caught me interest {and introduced me to RPGMaker games in general} last time i was on HF was between 2016 and 2017 and had found an old email in my email archive and thought to see what was new there only to find out it was dead it's a shame as it had some decent content

i used to be re-uploader for dlc that taken down mostly custom maid game back then... so sad it wad down so abruptly that most of user now are disperse since the modding community was one of the best IMO.

That site was unusable for years. Searches or clicking next pages return errors, loading problems etc.

It was one of the first hentai gaming forums/sites I came across.

I avoided it eventually because it was so. . . messy and disorganized. Hard to explain, but it's not like e-hentai forums or here.
