While I like Casting Couch porn, and I like Imperial Gatekeeper's Papers Please-like gameplay, which is a shame to say that this game fails at everything it's trying to do.
- Story -
You're some pathetic horny low-life who's recently out of a job for flirting with "hot girls" and got HR on his ass. And by some miracle, you got a job as a recruiter at a company that requires no experience whatsoever. Instead of being a functional member of society and not blew this second chance, you couldn't keep it out of your pants and went back to your old schtick.
(Which honestly, would've been pretty amusing to lampshade since a lot of the porn game protag basically threaten their own job security for the sake of getting laid, but it should've been obvious from this point that it's the game's lack of humor showing as they're incapable of doing anything clever like that.)
There's this on-going plot at the end of each week that it's clear as day that you hired every sap who came for whatever job they're asking for and banged them, as HR keep sending you warnings at the end of each days about how you obviously fucked... up. Eventually, they have enough of your shit and get you fired on your 10th day, even then you (seems to have) fucked the CEO who is responsible for your termination.
While an amusing concept at first glance, everything's cliched as all hell and played out in the most boring way possible. There's not much humor in when it's trying to be funny, nor is it anyway convincing when it's trying to be serious, it just feels shallow no matter what the game's trying to do.
- Writing -
For a game that prides itself on character interaction and "personality", surely it got to have some amazing writing, right? Well, it's trying so hard to establish a character with little as much of 5 minutes of screentime who will immediately be forgotten and thrown in the trash that I would rather that it just go with the "faceless masses" approach with these NPC fuck game than perputating a stereotype or flanderize someone and make one trait their entire personality.
Which makes it worse that most of the unqualified applicants only have two personalities to go by:
1. ignorantly assholish 2. ignorantly naive.
Like, what's the point if all I do is interviewing much of the same asshole with different designs that I'm only accepting because I can fuck 'em? I could just watch dozens of actual Casting Couch film that are filmed way and written slightly better than this!
And I should note there are some special applicants who came with their friends and family, even then said gimmick suck as they're also about the same as a normal applicant except the other person is also there to answer your questions and you seems to have to account for their personality when replying to them??? I honestly don't know most of the time as they just defend the actual applicant so they can get in, same old even when trying to be different.
Don't get me started on extended scenes that some applicants have, while they're present in an attempt to give the character more depth, all it does is just put you and the applicant on a date scenario before you fuck the shit out of her as she cries out generic lines like "OH FUCK ME [recruiter]" and "CUM INSIDE MEEEE" that just makes them more shallow.
- Gameplay -
On the surface, it's trying to be technical as the gameplay revolves around you rizzing up the applicant while testing whether they're fit for the job or not, even implementing skills for you to raise their horniness quickly for you to fuck... but ultimately, it's just a poor man's dating sim with Fallout 4's awful dialogue wheel.
At first glance it seems that all options are plausible, except that the MC decides to be a meanspirited piece of shit for no reason a lot of the time even when you press options like "make a joke" or "answer the question", while he acts nice when you press options like "ignore them" and "insult them". Like I'm not the most mentally stable, but does this guy have fucking bipolar disorder or something? Sometimes, being nice lowers their horniness while insults raise them instead even when it's a decent character.
What are the rules, dammit???
It boils down to you asking each questions on the right, judging whether to reject the applicant or not. But since you don't get punished for accepting someone who's not qualified, and the fact that the whole game revolves around accepting the applicants to get into their pants (aka getting the sex scene), there's no benefit for you to play the game "properly" nor any reasons to reject the applicant unless you want stupid ass dialogue and missing out on their scene.
Speaking of, the gameplay loop doesn't work in the first place. You start with a 1000 points, and you spend 10 for the flirting skill that raise their bar by maybe 1/4, which guarantee that you would fill out the horniness bar should you at least get 1 question right. WIth how low the skills cost, the points don't matter at all as you'll never run of them even when you use it for every possible applicants. Some skills will make the horniness plummet to bottom even when the interviewee reacts positively in their dialogue boxes, which just waste your time by forcing a restart and doesn't have a reason to be used most of the time.
- Art and Animation -
Admittedly, the developer got a decent artstyle with it being this game's only saving grace, even then it's wildly inconsistent and thus hurts the game's overall quality as well. Sometimes it's painfully generic, the other time it's got too much shading and/or details that it look gross, another time it's got terrible anatomy for scenes that it done right previously.
But aside from the art, a lot the animation looks more awkward than sexy, either there's too little movement or that it moves too fast that it just doesn't look like sex and more like two piece of meat slapping against each other. Which isn't helped by how the man and girl just keep moaning rapidly that doesn't sync to the thrust, have no way to adjust the speed, nor can you mute the loud ass dude whose voice just isn't too appealing to me.
- Conclusion -
It could've been so awesome, it could've been so cool... especially when it's far from being the developer's first game, and it depresses me how it proves that he's likely incapable of making a game that isn't crap or mid. Which is a huge shame since the concept seems to have a lot of potential out of it if it were to be more polished, given more focus to selective characters, or at least have a stronger overarching story.
I personally liked the dev's other game, Loanshock, which faces the same problem in that fails in what it's trying to do all while tries too hard in doing what it's not, in spite of its potentials and banner with good art.
I would really like to give the dev another chance if possible, but it gets sadder to see everytime he put out a game with good design but with no soul into it.
As it stands? IT'S. JUST. BAD.
