Why do I always have to start a new game on android? I do like this game but this is putting me off, I have to grind again from start every single time

It gives me a sinking feeling whenever I see it's a Unity game. I just can't do Unity anymore. For years I kept trying and blaming it on the games/developers for the user experience not being great (clicking through text is slightly delayed, game takes a small pause to ''load'' new scene or start an animation, graphics that my computer shouldn't be struggling with but somehow does). At this point, I don't know if it's impossible to make a good visual novel on Unity but I do know that I've never played one that I didn't wish was on a different engine.

It must be great for devs/creators because I don't get the appeal on the consumer side.

Maybe they are trying to work on a more complex game in the future and this helps them learn the engine? I don't think that something like renpy carries over that well to other game non-VN-focused engines.
