How do I change the skin color/tone on Futalicious/Dicktator Shells to match the Character?

Futalicious/Dicktator only comes with 4 different skin tones. 3 light and 1 dark. Needless to say they almost never fit perfectly. E.g. the dark one is almost always too dark for Latin Characters.

How do i manage to get it to look correctly. Whatever i try doesn't work. Sometimes i get the color to change but it never looks right. I know that normally you can change the skin color with Translucency weight but that doesn't do anything on the Dicktator Shell.

Also manually changing the color on every part is very, very sub-optimal since it's extremely difficult to match colors visually. Then the lighting changes and you are back to square one.

I feel it should be pretty easy since before applying the shell the "Material Copy Script" does a good job (at least as far as matching the general color tone is concerned)

The material copy script should be fixing the problem if you use it correctly. Maybe try re-reading the "readme" (or whatever it is called) document that came with the product archive.

Are you using G8? If so, just follow .

Just in case that other forum post ever becomes inaccessible, I'm copying the answer here:

Original post by:

Anyone else having issues trying to get G8M genital textures onto the product? I even tried Texture wizard and can't seem to get it to work. I follow the instructions in the G8M tool box and get told there aren't any dicktator or shell grafted to G8M even though there is. Why on earth are there not decent UV maps for this thing? At least that way I could know where to paint my own textures since the copy feature seems to be so unstable to get it to work right.

Helpful answer by
You have to be VERY careful when following the instructions. You have to be sure to select the proper item in the "Scene" tab or it doesn't work. There are three main items in the scene tab to select: 1. "Genesis 8 Male," 2. "Dicktator Genitalia," and 3. "Dicktator Shell."
I use Dicktator G8 v. 03. This is the latest release. I also use Dickator Genitalia. These instructions won't work with the provided G8 genitalia from DAZ.

Starting off in the product "Dicktator v3 for Genesis 8 Male..."

1. With "Genesis 8 Male" selected in the Scene Tab, I click on the "1_Dicktator Genitalia 0.3" Attachment (Attatchment is in Green to make it easier to find.) It is located in the First column, fourth row of the "Anatomy" tab.
2. I then click the "MAT Copy" script tile right next to it. This transfers the surface colors from you Gen 8 figure onto the genitalia.
3. Then I click the tile next to "MAT Copy" labeled "3_Dicktator_Shell" Attachment (again, Attachment is in Green) Now, at first this looks like it ruins your dick, but this is important. Without it you can not apply cum effects or bumps or veins.

4. Since I have a shell already, I switch Products and go to "Texture Master for Dicktator and Futalicious." If you scroll through the "Materials/Anatomy/ sub menus, you'll find a script called "!Texture Wizard_First Setup." Scroll down past all the tiles labeled "Hints" and you'll find it about 15 rows down, marked with a line with three loops. When you click it, it opens a PDF with instructions.
5. Select the "Dicktator Shell" in your scene tab.
6. Under "Dicktator UVs" in your Product tab, you will find two sub menus listed as "Color Set 1" and "Color Set 2." Use these to choose what "Shell DK Texture" you want.
7. Under "Dicktator UVs " in your Product tab, you will find a sub menu listed as "Displacement." With your "Dicktator Shell" still selected in your scene tab, select a "Shell DK Testicles" or a "Shell DK Veins" preset. Now, try to get the color close to what you think your model is, but don't worry too much. You can adjust all that later.
8. Use the "Spot render" tool to see if everything has worked. If it hasn't, you had the wrong item selected.

9 If you wish to make the veins on your dick more pronounced. go to "Materials/Anatomy/Texture Wizard/Adjustments/Shell/
For Veins and scrotum: SELECT THE "Genesis 8 Male"...NOT THE DICKTATOR SHELL" or the "DICKTATOR GENITALIA" .... in the Scene tab. Go to the "Displacement" sub menu and use the tiles as marked to alter the bump increase/decrease, Glans, shaft and scrotum displacement which will make them more or less pronounced.
10. The " Specularity" sub menu requires you to select the "Dicktator Genitalia" option in the "Scene" tab. ." This will alter the glossiness (wetness) of the genitalia.
11. Translucency also requires you to select the "Dicktator Genitalia" option in the "Scene" tab. This will adjust the brightness or darkness of the genitalia to get it closer in color to your character.

Now, to add a Wet Preset, you get to ADD ANOTHER SHELL!!!! (What fun!)
1. Select the "Genesis 8 Male" in the "Scene" tab.
2. Go to "Materials/Anatomy/Dicktator UV's/Wet Maps." The second tile is listed as "!Dicktator_Wet Shell" Attatchment. (Attatchment is in Green) Double click. This will load "Dicktalicious_DCK UVs Wet Shell" into your "Scene" tab.
3. Select "Dicktalicious_DCK UVs Wet Shell" in your "Scene" tab
4. Double click on any of the "Wet Shell DK" labeled material tiles. You can combine them for effects.

This next step is IMPORTANT!!! IF YOU DON'T DO THIS EVERYTHING IS RUINED!!!!
1. Select your "Genesis 8 Male" in the "Scene" tab.
2. Go to "Materials/Anatomy/Texture Wizard/Adjustments/Shell' and double click the script tile "Copy Bump and Displacement to Wet Shell." This allows the wet shell to show all the detail of the penis below that you worked so hard to get, without having it poke through the wet shell and ruining the effect.

Now, check with "spot render" and alter any parameters as needed.

I've checked this over and I think I got it right. I don't know everything and this has taken about two months for me to figure out on my own. I hope I got it right and I hope it helps. The learning curve is worth it!!!
Enjoy.

Yeah, I had to figure out a solution for this too:

The way I do it is to add a diffuse overlay on the futalicious surfaces. You can check my game's screenshots to see the result, works pretty well. Currently rendering, so I can't check the exact term, but its a few items below the diffuse texture.

IIRC I used a value of 0.35 for the diffuse overlay, and then I tweaked its color to match the skin. Then you have to apply the same values to each of the dozen or so surfaces involved. Looks great under many different lighting conditions.

Thanks for the help, guys!

Tried a bunch of stuff, including the guide you two posted. Still didn't look right. I think the main problem was that Wet and Tan Addon already screwed with everything. That's why all the usual stuff didn't work correctly. Still haven't figured it out completely but maybe all this manual color correction stuff is just too advanced for me for now. Blindly clicking through settings only get you so far.

Will try that sometimes. Very nice looking renders in your game btw. Will check it out.

Switched to non-Futa for now with characters who don't match the premade skinshades. That Wet and Tan look looks gorgeous though.

(Still working on why black hairs appear grey though. Shaders don't like me apparently. )

That's why it didn't work. You had two shells going, most likely. Slightly Adjusting the offset of the wet/tanned skin probably would've fixed it.

I checked. There is only one Shell in the scene (searched for "shell") and that's the futaliscious shell. On that shells "shaft" surface are only 2 offsets: Vertical and Horizontal.

So i think sadly that's a no.

Wet and Tanned has a menu with a bazillion sliders. I am sure one combination would have fixed everything. Alas if you don't know what youre doing it's pretty hopeless. The combinations of translucency maps, translucency weight, translucency color, etc, etc, etc give a bazillion permutations. So unless you knwo exactly what you're looking for I'd say the chances of hitting the right combination are almost zero.

What really bothers me is this: It should be so easy if there was just a script that took the color from the lower torso surface and applied it to the genitals Shell. (Basically what the mat copy script does. But that script is useless because it has nothing to do with the shell surface texture)

Edit: Going to the Futaliscious Genitalia's "shaft surface" (That's the one that mat copy script actually works on) and "Copy selected surfaces" and then paste them to the Futaliscious Shell's "Shaft surface" (The one that is actually rendered) SHOULD fix the problem, but it does absolutely nothing.)

The wet and tan shell might not actually have "shell" in the name. The problem is that the wet and tan shell applies to the base model only, and its properties don't get copied to grafts **at all** when you copy the material to futalicious, because it's not a material property of the base skin, its just a shell sitting on top of it. E.g. if you use an HD nipple graft, you end up with two dry orbs in the middle of the chest. You can then apply the same shell to the nipple graft. (Edit: Can't check right now, but I have a faint recollection that is is indeed not a shell...)

One workaround is to get a wet futalicious addon, apply that to the futalicious gen, and then post-process whatever seam might be present at their junction. And that's on top of tweaking the color with the diffuse overlay.

I don't get this at all. No visual guide? What's in "green"? What is he talking about? And I'm going nuts trying to get dicktator to match my male character. Idk how and can't find any visual guides.

Looks like you got it for the most part.

Select the shell, and then go into the pumping pole folder. Based on his skin tone, you'll probably want "Banana Bar" (just a guess.) > Hit the little arrow on the left of "Banana Bar" and go down to "Character Adjustment" > And you'll see varying skin tone options. You're not always going to get a perfect match, but it'll give you a good enough result. Experiment with all of the other options until you get one you like.

Start with what MissFortune said, but you can get a really good match with skin tones by manipulating diffuse overlay.
