.That being said, being able to stay true to my original vision has been one of the greatest thing my paying supporters have given me, they have never ever wanted me to change or force a different narrative, I do take a lot of opinions and I run surveys every version now to get ideas and see how my readers feel, but ultimately I'm holding the reigns and I won't do stupid things like creating polls for conflicting content.

Fortunately more devs are like that now. It's fine getting small ideas and shit like that but there was a time when content polls were rampant.
Dev puts out a poll with ideas taken from their players, dev adds content or changes a storyline or character and the people that voted for that love it .... the rest ..... noooot so much.
So dev puts out another poll, content gets added or changes a storyline or character and the people that voted for it love it ..... shockingly a pattern emerges and people that didn't vote for it hate that content or changes.
However the devs doing this don't seem to posses common sense and miss the very obvious signs even Stevie Wonder could see from a fucking city away so another poll appears.
Rinse and repeat until the game is a clusterfuck of nonsense no one likes not even the dev.
Then you have the other side of that coin where a dev listens to their players too much, start making changes and realise they hate what their game has turned into and abandon it.
Polls for clothing or hairstyles or even what position to do the sexy time in is fine but never, ever, ever major storylines.
It's pretty obvious that will never work, we all like different things and the dev needs to enjoy what they are doing and should have an idea how their own story will go.

Well those kinds of polls are mostly for one and one thing only. Money.
