I can't find any sort of "saves" files when I look through the package files of the games I have. I need to clear up some space for work but don't want to lose my progress. Any clue what specific files I need to keep to keep my save files for your typical Ren'Py game?

Most if not all Renpy games store saves in two places on Windows.
In the saves folder inside the game folder.
In the Renpy folder in your appdata folder.
In the saves folder inside the game folder.

My bad I forgot to mention that I'm on Mac. Does that make a difference?

If you use multiple hard drives, go onto the one with the games you want to delete before you delete them, go into them as if you would play them, then under the game where you would want to go under it below that should be another thing that says game under that will be all of your save data from save 1 to save 10 or more if you used that many
Oh ya forgot to mention some games will have a Save folder so you can just copy that instead of looking under there
