This needed a thread for what reason, exactly?
For you. Joke :4Head:
Probably he played some of these generic porn games here where there is either no plot or the characters acts so unrealisticly he needed to make a extra thread of it.
This by side, I personally dont agree with that hot-take. The reason is logic. You dont need to be a detective or a criminal yourself to write a story about crime. Sure it will help you to smothe some things up, but is not necesarry.
You dont need to be a handsome guy yourself to write a story about a handsome guy which chicks falls for him. (Johnny Stark).

You should've tweeted this instead...
Just stating your opinion doesn't really help anybody in any way. Add something that people can consider or learn from, then it's worthy of being a topic here. We can't even fap to it...

Yeah guys...so if you are not able to pass through the wall between platforms 9 and 10 then don't develop a game in Harry Potter universe. Let this one to true wizards.

To be honest, I think that the most DEV's do have personal sexual expierences. If you are in your twenties especially in your thirties and don't have any sexual experience yet, then you should look deep in to your own personality. If you are 'avarage' looking or even ugly, you can still get girls and this goes for the girls aswell. Being attractive or unattractive has nothing to do with being handsome or beautiful. You can still look way above avarage and nobody is interested in you, due your fucked up personality.

And for other people it can be a personal reason, like being religious or no sexual contact before marriage or any other private reason. But I don't think that you find those kind of people here.

This is just a useless thread to be honest. I don't think the most DEV's are virgins. I just think that the most people are just inspireless or don't know how to write a interesting story. Many games or novels also feels way to rushed.

And the people above me are also right. You don't need to have experience to write a story. Next to my novel, I also try to write a (none-sexual) story about transhumanism and human consciousness. Do I need to be a psychologist or professor to continue writing my story now?

Well, I don't think we have serial rapist or animals writing about rape or bestiality games. With some common sense and writing skills you can put 2+2 together.

Especially in this internet age, where you can watch porn or read many examples of erotic literature (I think reading erotica is even better for adult game developing). With some limits of course, I wouldn't venture with a lesbian scene, for example, that's too far from what I've experienced, seen or read.

This read like a troll post but I'm responding because I want to take the opportunity to talk about this point, from an adult game design perspective.

Naturally, I disagree. Of course, everyone swings differently, however, what I'm looking for in an adult game is not a representation of real sex. Real life sex can be a fun and intimate experience but in my opinion that is entirely different from what I get or want from an adult game. Adult games should be about sexual fantasy, and fantasies are impossible by definition.

It's like asking if you need to have had sex with a real horse in order to do a bestiality game. Surely not. (I just noticed Rafster made the same point but I'll make it again.) All you need to understand is the fantasy, because that is what you're recreating.

Similarly, I've never owned any brothels or sex slaves myself, yet here I am making a game about both. Weird, huh!
