Hi. I've to admit that I tried to go and edit Cursed. It even went and created the backup file, but didn't remove the password, it still asks for it.
I just came here to work on that game, oddly enough. It works fine, no pass needed.
What I am wondering is if there is an easy way to extract all the text from a game. It is hell trying to sort through all the variables in Cursed and another game, Girly Gauntlet. There's also no crack for the new version of rags which is much easier to read text on.
I'm also having a problem finding the actual text portions in the game... an issue I remember having with Gauntlet but managed to sort out eventually. I'm lost here, though. Can anyone help?

You can export all the games code and image to XML from the editor. I have some script to split and remerge the xml if you want. Pretty neat to keep the games under source control.

I don't think that method works because it crashes to the desktop every time I try to run it like you instructed.1)Download RagsSuite2.4.16 with crack fromYou must be registered to see the linksorYou must be registered to see the links.
2)Move RagsDesigner.exe from folder "crack" into directory with installed Rags. Now you can edit not passworded rags games.
3) If game passworded download UnPacker fromYou must be registered to see the linksorYou must be registered to see the links. Extract to separate folder. Than copy your game in this folder. Name of the game must be without spaces (If name 1 2 3.rag rename into 123.rag)
4)Run RagsPsw.exe (easy way click on RagsPsw.exe,then write in path field "cmd" and press Enter)
5) In window write "RagsPsw name_of_your_file.rag" , press Enter/
6) RagsPsw will create new *.rag file (not passworded) and backup *.rag.bak. New file can be freely edited in RagsDesigner.

Not working for me.
Double click to RagsPsw.exe create the "path field", but it dismiss after less than second.
Upd: It partially work. Right click to the game-you-need > Choise"Open with..."(or something similar, don't know english version) > choise program "RagsPsw.exe".
After that you may open game without password, but not edit it. Only inspect.
Does anyone know if there's a crack for the Rags 3 Designer available? I know Rags games compatible with 3 are really rare, but for whatever reason I'm having trouble getting the latest No Haven build to open in the 2.4 editor but 3 seems to open it just fine.

A desperate cry for help: Did anyone tried to run this version of Rags Designer recently. I do not know why, but my RagsSuite simply stopped launching (no error messages, no starting window, nothing). Install-reinstall, reboot - nothing helps. Damn, I even have no a clue "why?"!

I've successfully edited a RAGS game with RagsDesigner.exe without issue. However, after saving it to the same filename (since RAGS saves can be picky about file paths) and loading that file in Rags.exe and then loading an existing save, the changes seem to have no effect. It loads just fine and is completely playable - no save file mismatch or anything. Assuming my code changes aren't flawed, is there something else that can explain this? Might I be missing some build step?

I haven’t touched a Rags games in years, but I remember having the same problem back then. It's fuzzy at this point, but I think I was editing room condition and always hitting the old behavior in save.
It seems like some of the game code or state is embedded in the save and can't be changed after a game is started. That pretty much explain why you must start from scratch when authors update their games.
I have no idea if there's a solution for this. Sorry.

It's a shame there are number of RAGS games that I enjoy, and in part because RAGS really goes have it's player-side good points, because damn it's a pain in the ass.

There are source code, so you could debug it yourself
It's pretty simpleFirst step: open cmd and then run exe to see the output. It could report some errors that you don't see because of closing console.
I realize I'm not the smartest person around, but I just can't get the password crack to work. Anytime I edit the lines under method_0string : void, nothing happens when I try to edit a rags game any differently than if I hadn't changed those values. Furthermore, every time I boot up Ilspy, the values are reset.
I also have the same issue Laecla has on the ragsunpassworder: it opens and immediately closes, regardless of compatibility settings or administrator privilege. Running it in cmd gave the same results with no errors appearing.
EDIT: Pararock was right, dnSpy + bypassing UAC fixed it.

First, you can grab one of the latest version of dnSpy instead of ILSpy. All the discussions about the bad release of dnspy have long been solved.

Seems like, you don't overwrite the file. Save it to somewhere you can, like the desktop. and copy paste the modified file with explorer to bypass UAC.

Are there any editors that are similar to the RAGS editing suite, either a regalia-based editor or otherwise? I just want to make games in that kind of format, but with RAGS now unsupported, it's kind of like...how?
