How to know the engine of VN?

Hi all,

I intends to extract text from the VN, but encountered the issue that I dont know which engine it used.
May I know if we have any tools or methods to get out that information, for example, Kirin or Mono...

The only way to know unless specified somewhere is to look at the directory structure. Keep in mind that Visual Novels are fairly simple so having their own in-house engine wouldn't be so uncommon.
It's a pretty dated game, so unless KiriKiri or NScripter were used, it's likely a custom Game Engine.

There was a small cottage industry of game engines in the Japanese market from the mid 90s onwards. In general none of them were known/sold outside Japan due to the reliance on shift-jis encoding, and due to bitrot/linkrot it's hard to find info on them today even if you can read Japanese. (source: me, a long time aficionado even from before hongfire era).
