How to make a ero game?

I’ve been using this forum for a long time but never posted until today—this is my first thread. I want to try making a game with Renpy and would like to ask for advice.
I have two main questions:
  1. How do I create 3D art? Can anyone recommend tutorials? I’m confident I can learn.
  2. I’m a professional writer (it’s how I make a living), so writing stories comes easily to me. However, my native language is Chinese, and my second language is Japanese—this means I can’t write in English well. Would the community accept AI-translated English text?
I likely can’t release my work in Chinese because my country imposes extremely severe penalties for selling or distributing such content.
Thank you all in advance.

(1) For creating 3D-Images you can e.g. use:
*Honey Select (2)
*Virt-A-Mate
*DAZ
*Blender

Honey Select 2 should be the most simplest to use and to learn. You could also try using AI-Art.

I would say, it depends. At least for european languages DeepL does quite good translations, but it sometimes has problems with pronouns. So it sometimes uses "she" when a "he" is meant. And this is quite a No-Go when reading. Not sure how it is about translations from chinese. Best is to get a good proof-reader.

But I guess, your question is here more a question about monetarizing your game. The most important thing here is, that you have an interesting idea for a story (that fits the taste of a certain crowd), that you understand your the audience you want to adress (e.g. don't dare to include NTR in a Harem game) and most important can produce good images. The lower the quality of your images, the exponential higher the quality of your writing should be.

There are even some lewd-writers who earn money with pure writing. But I think, to enter this market is much harder, as the amount of lewd-writers is much bigger and many give their stories even out for free. The literature market is also quite different in what topics are valued. While here Harem-Games are the best selling ones, the literature-market works best for "cuckold"-stories.

Poor English can be a reason for criticism, but if you mention that English is not your native language, I think they will understand.

If you're looking to monetize this, especially via retail outlets like Steam, DAZ and Blender are probably the best options. HS2 grants no right to resell any assets. I believe Virt A Mate is the same, but haven't looked into that one as much. Be careful with AI Art, if the AI program was trained on stolen data, you could see your work flagged and brought down at some point.

AI translated text still has a lot of issues. Especially when translating from east asian languages where the way context is conveyed is very different and the usage of relationships is more pronounced (e.g., honorifics). Some things just don't translate well, either, which is why generally 'professional' media doesn't get 'translated' they get 'localized'. Bad English can absolutely hurt a story but it'll depend on how bad it is. A lot of people are understanding if the author is not a native speaker, but I recommend trying to find an editor, if feasible.

Regarding the distribution of restricted content. That's a hard one to navigate. I guess it depends on how your country allows access to resources like Patreon, Subscribstar, Steam, etc. and if they track the content being put up there.

Either way, Good Luck!

Just wanted to point out that learning to use AI art isn't quite a simple as it sounds, though it is miles easier than the other options. It still requires a bit of set up and there is a bit of a learning curve when learning to train an AI to create consistent images. Also, just like 3d rendering, it can cost money if you get into downloading pre-trained diffusion models. These can be for fairly complex poses, sexual positions, substance rendering (heh heh), and quite a few others.

1. DAZ3d seems to be the most popular and easiest 3D tool to start with (that isn't another game).
2.No one cares how you translated your game, if the translation is good enough.
