Daz How to unfuck manually merged library that has errors in it?

So I maybe went overboard in my desire to enrich this world with more 3D waifu titties, and I downloaded over 100gb of assets from this site. And since everything ofc had to be installed manually I just extracted everything, copied and said "Yes" when it asked me to overwrite. So now 80% of the things are working fine, but the things that dont work, reeeeeeeeally dont work. A lot of things have missing files and script errors. Some people dont have a matching face/body texture, some get differently colored skin.

Edit: Is there a way to solve this that doesnt include redownloading everything and can you guys recommend me some asset lists that include good genitalia/poses/cum/expressions/tits assets that dont conflict when merged?

The short answer is: you're screwed. Honestly.

Daz is such a "walking on a tightrope above doom" ecosystem to start with that, if you blast random shite over top of the contents folders it's never going to end well and, there are no easy ways to work out what went wrong.

0. reflect on why you downloaded all that stuff - do you wanna make a game? if so, achieve early enlightenment with regards the following koan... "downloading contents to daz is not progress... progress is progress"
1. move all the downloaded content archives etc to somewhere safe so you can reinstall them later
2. backup any daz scenes etc you created and saved
3. nuke the content folder from orbit
4. also blow away the daz content postgres database (you'll have to find where this is somehow, i recommend searching daz forums)
5. delete/uninstall daz completely. (daz forums are your friend in finding all the nasty places the installer hides stuff)
6. probably best to reinstall daz to a new location (maybe a bigger second drive? you'll thank yourself in the future)
7. use https://f95zone.to/threads/how-to-install-content-to-daz-w-w-o-install-manager.6045/ to learn how to install stuff without fukking everything up

osanaiko Well that really hurts...
I want to make a game but I just wanted to try everything that I can get my hands on and see what works best with each other. Eyes from one set, skin from the other, lips from the third one etc. Ok Ill follow your steps and nuke everything. Can you give me a list of best porn assets to try out? Cum, poses, genitals, expressions etc. so that I can start with downloading that and working my way out of this mess

Actually, there's no need to manually install products for Daz. There's the . All native Daz packages are compatible with it. And there's the Content Package Assist to make Daz-compatible packages out of products from other stores (Renderosity, CGBytes, Renderhub... You name it). IMHO, using the manager to install things is totally worth it.

Tbf I saw that there is no install file in downloaded asset packs so I assumed that install manager only works with bought and not pirated assets. I will try this out when I redownload everything

Heyo, sorry if that came across as a bit harsh :ROFLMAO:

I don't use daz actively so I don't have a "favorite" of anything really.

I freely admit that I went through an "asset packrat" phase when I first discovered Daz and the games on this site, but once I realized I was just filling up my disk and I wasn't actually making anything with it, I mostly stopped. My "i wanna make a game" energy then went into supporting other devs by proofreading, and recently into making my own 2d art game with AI.

I agree with Jumbi, Daz Install Manager (DIM) is the way to go. I assume you knew about it already but were doing manual install for some other reason. Its a much, much better tool than manual install when possible (although a lot of the weirder stuff / things from renderosity/renderotica needs a manual install anyway.) So read that guide I linked, but prefer DIM when you can.

If you kept any of the archives you downloaded, you can use them with DIM. Otherwise, just be selective about what you get - my rule for the few things I do download these days is to install it, try it out, and delete from daz if it's shit (but keep the install archive). If you end up with a giant amount of content in daz, it becomes very tedious to find stuff anyway, and if you have a lot of character morphs it gets VERY VERY slow to load scenes.

One smart way to manage content is to keep your new character and morph sets in a series of separate content folders (check how to have multiple in the doco/forums) so you can just detach them / rearrange the good stuff into a "always attached" folder if and when your daz load times get crazy. There's no real point in have 4 different "200 body morphs" sets, boob morphs, expression morphs etc etc. they just end up duplicating each other.

100gb just dumped into your My Daz 3D Library? ... Sorry, but I just have to chuckle over that one. I'm at the point that on my next project I am thinking about running quarantined versions of DAZ on separate PC's ... just to avoid the problems a -single- bad asset install can cause.

I had one last month where some fucking Morph that aged up or down your characters caused a rogue eye morph to be baked into my Scene Subsets of my main characters. I think I did 75 renders before I noticed that my main toons were blinking weird. Took me a while but I eventually found the hidden rogue morph and it was one for making a baby character.. like WTF? I never used that morph slider ever! So I had to redo those renders and then re-build my character presets and finally uninstall that damn morph (Can't remember the exact name but it was PFA I think when you searched the parameters tab for hidden morphs.)

Then I had another one a week later. I caught this one fast though. It was "Toon Generation 4" I used it to make toon characters for some SFW posters for my other real life business. It came with expressions as well as the morphs and I think I was trying some sliders for the expressions and that - again - baked some odd morphs into my DUF's.

The problem is that every asset creator is responsible for indexing and packaging their own creations. It's not like they submit them to a review board to ISO 9001 certification. At the most, the DAZ stores probably just check that they will install using DIM and that they don't have any viruses. So we get stuff that is in the wrong content folders, doesn't link to the textures, or applies weird rogue morphs when used in certain ways.
