How you extract files to use on joiplay?

I used to be able to do it on my old phone with no issues but i got a new one and every time i try it just floods my gallery with the file content, any way to fix this shit?

Personally I use ZArchiver to extract games on my phone. I have a main folder where I extract the games, each game in a separate folder.
In the main folder I added a txt file and renamed it to .nomedia also removing the .txt extension, this file tells your phone that whatever media files you have in the folder should not be discoverable by other apps like the gallery.
