I wonder why the after story DLC is getting censored. It features the same characters as this game, and this one is apparently sellable. A random unintended casualty?

It's because more of the "newer" stuff is prone to adhering to the newer standards of DLSITE. Any tags that includes school or something gets removed from international store. While older games before the change are up to the devs/mods of DLsite to check if they fit the new standard.

I see the DLC can now be accessed on DLSite without a VPN. But it will still need translation, and I wonder if the company will do another official one given the payment processor situation.

yeah the payment processor situation fucking sucks. It cannot even be bypassed by "just buying steam gift cards" because getting "banned" on steam is fatal for a game, but surviving the ban but with restrictions (mastercard/credit card companies) such as you cannot use most mainstream payment processors will impact the game financially. Thus more games will just not come out on steam/ will censor their games to APPEASE OUR Payment processor overlords.

First they went and hit DLsite with their restrictions, now they're targeting steam. It doesn't matter what genre of games they ban, they will eventually hit a genre niche that someone likes. That is what unregulated companies do when they get too much power. Currently the banned games on steam are slop adult games, but sooner they'll hit the actually well made H games/adult games. After that is done they will force censorship on mainstream games to appeal to their "standards of ethical media".
