I fundamentally misunderstand something (n00b help)

Hi,

I'm trying to use some of the stuff by Meipe and while some stuff is pretty straightforward (tattoos from Fender Blender), other stuff I just don't know how to use. For instance I have Breastacular here, but when I use the morph sliders (if I'm using the term correctly) the breasts don't change at all. Rather, on the bigger breasts, I get a bump growing above the breast, like so:

With Golden Palace, for instance, I feel like I'm not able to keep the pelvis area colored, I don't know what I'm doing wrong... and I played around with it for a while and the distorsions work, but now I can't even add one.

Sorry if my issues are too basic but I can't seem to find help elsewhere

Golden palace issue should be quite easy to fix: there should be even a readme with it explaining how to apply the material to it.

If you didn't already figure it out...

With the Breastacular portion, that's happening because you don't have the geograft applied to the figure. The product isn't just a set of morphs - you have to apply the graft first like with Golden Palace.

For both, you apply the graft and then do the material copy. If you are using them at the same time you may get material conflicts from the shell (more common in pre-Gen9) for which you would use the included shell fix option.

Both Breastacular and GP are almost idiot-proof on the G9. Basically, you just follow the tool-tip help icon in the folder of each of those assets. From your screenshots, it looks like you never applied the Breastacular morph to your G9. You can still move the sliders in the Parameters tab, but there is no mesh for it to work on (other than that small collarbone adjustment that is applied to the base G9 mesh). I just made a test G9 with female shape applied and duplicated the slider effect...

In your Content Library Tab, go to People -> Genesis 9 -> Anatomy -> Breastacular

The first icon is a help tip, just hover over it. The second icon opens a PDF tutorial.

You want the 1A first. That's the normal BL graft. The 1B is for more advanced users as it includes a glove that you can use to deform the BL graft to simulate things like squeezing, etc. Notice I applied the graft with that slider still at 100%, which is hilarious.

tut 3.jpg

Your example didn't have any mats applied, so i put the default Genesis Female mats on it and you'll see that it leaves the BL graft grey.

tut 4.jpg

Now you run step 2. which copies the materials over to your BL graft...

tut 5.jpg

Now you can play with all those effects in the Parameters tab. This allows you to mix and match and apply effects incrementally, to make your own unique body. Alternatively, you can click to apply presets from the content tab, which is basically the same as the sliders but put to 100%. Just for fun, I moved that Crazy 01 Right again and it works now...

For Golden Palace, the procedure is almost exactly the same. The G9 version of GP has made a lot of improvements over the G8 and G8.1 versions. You have one extra step to do, which is apply geoshells for the coloring of the gens (both labia minor and labia major). One important note about using the default Genesis 9 genitals (if you have that anatomical elements pack installed) Daz does not have materials for the default gens. No fucking idea why, as they do sell the mesh, so use those default gens only with characters that include the MAT's for them (there are quite a few G9 character packs that include those mats).

I'll just install the Golden Palace gens...

tut 7.jpg

And they are grey as well. So run #3 the Mat. copy script...

tut 8.jpg

And that's pretty much it! You have BL and GP applied and with the correct textures.

tut 9.jpg

Finally, you will run into the shells turning opaque on you. Sometimes it's because you applied another shell or mesh or morph, and sometimes, they will just glitch when you use tools like Meshgrabber. It happens fairly often, but fixing them is easy. Just hide/unhide each of the shells to determine which one is acting up. Sometimes two shells are glitched. Then run one of the Shell Fix scripts. BL has one script and GP has two. This will fix 99% of these glitches. For the other 1% you need to copy/apply textures in a slightly more advanced way, or to manually turn off shell visible surfaces through the parameter tab.

Anyhow, that's my ghetto tutorial. I'm bored while running some spot renders so I killed some time with this :D

Hey thanks, this does work when it comes to BL and GP, but if I try to mix BL with Dicktator, when I do the material copy from Dicktator, then the material on the breasts get all weird and the material on the dick is not proper either (the glans should be red, I think?) (Picture 1)

I don't appreciate this issue with GP at all and I have no idea what's causing this behaviour. If I apply the material copy script on just the dick I get the same result. If instead of "1-Dicktator" I use "1-Dicktator_Smart", the material around the crotch copies just fine but I lose the material on the breast entirely (picture 2). If I try to copy the material onto BL it is still not fixed. If I hide "Dicktator G9_Shell" I get to see the material for the breast, but lose the proper material of the genitalia (picture 3).

Any clue on what I'm doing wrong here? Like I said I feel like I just replicated the same steps you just showed but using Dicktator instead of Golden Palace. I'd like to be able to create shemale/trans characters as well.

I've never used Breastacular with Dicktator. That's more a futaliscious thing... isn't there scripts for that? If you're just using the normal Dicktator and Breastacular scripts, they are probably not applying properly because they weren't designed for Futa combinations.

I did a test just now and I applied Dicktator first, applied the mats, then I applied BL and the mats and of course, there is a shell opaque. Select the Dicktator shell, then look for Shell under Parameters. Look in Visibility and turn off the Breastacular Body part. This is the Dicktator shell, so hiding that part won't affect the dick at all, while letting you see the BL shell fine.

Alternatively, you can turn on Show Hidden under the Parameters burger menu, then you'll see all the different parts of that shell, which you can turn off separately.

And ... another technique is to adjust the Mesh Offset. See pics below. at the default setting (0.00) it's showing... dial it down a click or two and it goes below the BL shell.
