Hey last month i released a so called game it was bad asf dialogues are bad vocab sucks and its short with fucked up renders and now that i literally changed everything in version 0.2 i made a map changed all the dialogues renders and added entire new content it looks like a new game should i release it like a new game (acting as if there wasnt a version one in the first place) or v 0.2
The first version made 1800 downloads and 10k views and 50 follow on itch.io

Your future self is going to consider everything your past self does to be shit so making new games all the time would be a waste of time.

I think at this point you just need to roll with it. If you keep on releasing quality content people and can find ways to promote so new folks check it out, you'll manage.

On itch.io you're not supposed to release a new version as a new game, which is why they recommend you polish your game before releasing. However if you decide to release work-in-progress versions, and eventually have wildly different versions (like a fully finished version) they would allow you to get away with it if you don't do it often.

TBH from what you said I'd release the game as v0.2 until I'm ready for v1.0 and I'd release v1.0 as a separate game.
