Project:

- I have the beginning of a sci-fi game planed out. A drama/survival game planed out (might split it in two based on team input). A sci-fi trilogy and a fantasy trilogy.

Developer:

-Snowy games production

Looking for:

-A 3D artist/programmer and a writer

Employment Type:

-The goal is to share revenue from subscribestar but as this would be new, we would start as unpaid.

Work commitment:

-Ideally, a long term commitment, but I could settle for short term.

Preferred method of contact:

- for now PMs or email, we can decide on something later as a team.
Snowygamesproduction@gmail.com

Job Description:

- 3D artist - I would like our games to be visually distinct, so the ability to create and modify people, objects and cloths; render stills and animations.

Writer - mostly for dialog. The writer would be creating and/or understanding the unique characters and how they would react and talk in different situations. E.g., whether a character would push a person out of danger or scream at them to get out of danger.

Programmer - familiarity of ren’py is a must and a willingness to learn other tools too.

Additional comments:

- I would appreciate an intimate understanding of the NTR fetishes as well as submissive, gay/lesbian and futa genres, from the team members. I’m a straight anti-NTR extremist, (if she’s not “intact” I’m not interested) so I only understand the eroticism of the aforementioned things on an intellectual level. It would be very helpful to have someone that could instinctively guide such interactions and choice paths.

The games will cover as many fetishes/genres as realistically possible; with out negatively impacting the story or other fetishes. This means that at some point we would/could cover harem, NTRs, incest, loli, BDSM and much more. E.g., the drama/survival game will have gay/bisexual, sharing and watersports content. In essence, having a strong objection to any genre would be one of the few disqualifying factor. My view on this is; if no IRL people are hurt, then it’s all good. It does need to be said, I have no plans to do any extreme content.

I believe that the ideal team makeup would be a 3D artist that can code Ren’Py and a writer, but a writer that can code and a 3D artist would work too. That being said, I wouldn’t be opposed to staring out as a four-person team rather than building to it.

Vast experience is a plus but not a requirement. The first game is intended as a way for us to get to know each other and expand our capabilities. This isn’t my first time leading people and I have studied project management for a different industry…. This would however be my first time applying those skills to game development. As a self described nerd, I’m a bit addicted to learning. I.e. I just spent half an hour reading about “id est,” that naturally led to “exempli gratia” and cumulated on the “ellipses.” When it comes down to it I value knowledge regardless of source; as long as the passion and will is there… we can all learn together.

Mostly the ideas and direction for the games. I would also be assisting the graphic artist in all but faces I can’t do faces or bodies for that matter, for some reason they always fall in the uncanny valley. The writer would basically be writing dialog for an existing story. Almost like converting a book to a movie script. As for programming I can’t help there. I only know it on a nerd level, (languages, how they work and some of the differences between them ext.) so I’m probably underestimating the work involved.

I would basically be providing the story and direction, while helping everyone with the work.

I have been asked for more or any details on the projects, in case anyone else is interested…. All the games have a small amount of fantasy in them to allow for fetishes. In some of the games it gets addressed but in others it’s completely ignored. It doesn’t however effect the story as it is not a one persons’ delusion but a thing that doesn’t happen. Aside from that, the games are very grounded if not in reality then in its own internal logic.

The first game is inspired by an anime I watched long ago (I don’t remember it’s name). The game is set amidst a war between two planets on the same orbit around their sun. You play as a pilot for one of the sides; during one of these battles you notice a strange ship suddenly appear. You board and take over the derelict ship; just to realise the ability to cloak is just the icing of what the ship can do and the secrete data it holds. The game is a basic harem VN game in which you get to choose your gender. I always wanted to play a lesbian harem game but I’m yet to see one. I’m guessing there’s no demand for it hence the option for a male MC. There will be futa, wife stealing (NTR) and loli (in this case girls that look much younger than they are) amongst others. The paths are mostly around who you let in the harem. The goal will be to stop the war. As I said previously, I have only planned out the beginning of this game so the info is subject to change.

The second game is about a guy that was betrayed by a close friend, but which one. The game takes place in the desert as you try to survive and remember the days that led up to the betrayal. Who could possibly hate you so much that they would try to kill you slowly with dehydration, hunger and sunburn. The choices in this game will be around how well you survive and who you save. The second part will be your vengeance and the choices will be, who do you forgive and who do you destroy. This game will have harem (small in part one), incest, loli and gay content amongst others. After playing a really boring game; I developed a basic philosophy to keep player interest. I then applied it, to plot out this game. In the process I borrowed and modified a couple plot points from the grate Alexandre Dumas.

I don’t want to talk about the trilogies too much. There are some surprises in the stories and revealing some plot points would ruin them. I.E. the second game in the fantasy trilogy, the main plot and mechanic is a direct outcome of the first game. I’m also substantially more invested in the trilogies as I have spent a considerable amount of time on them.

The sci-fi trilogy

On the first one; you are sent back in time with your family. Do to your knowledge, you are your families best chance to making a living. There will be a prostitute to “save” for the NTR folks and much more. I picked a time period that is rarely visited in media and a location that is never visited. After doing some research, I found that the only recorded history for this area, is in a book akin to the bible. This makes it the ideal location as history already says a lot of magic happened back then. The paths and content of this game are planed out but the game mechanics are not.

The second one is about a successful mans’ search for immortality. It takes place about 18 or 20 years after the first one. The routes will carry over with the addition of references to choices made. This one will be a VN. For the NTR folks the ending will hurt a little extra.

The last one will be an empire builder. It will start immediately after the second and cover about 2000 years. The paths and content for this one are still being worked on. I’m trying to keep it grounded but there’s only one path that makes sense. It will however be an empire builder, so the mechanics are planed out. This one will have the majority of the sci-fi tech. It’s mostly thought out but will require some thought power to complete.

The fantasy trilogy

The universe in witch this take place is fully developed but subject to change as it is vital to the story. The series will cover more genres/fetishes than all the other games, as it was one of the driving forces behind it.

The first game, starts out as you receive the news that you have been granted a scholarship to the best university in the country. The game covers the 3 years for witch you go to school and is divided into 3 parts. This game was originally just the prologue to the second game; as I was trying to avoid the school setting genre. That is also why… this game is less about going to school and more about why you got the scholarship and how you utilise the reason. All while bringing on the ire of a cult. The paths are mostly about the fetishes you wish to explore.

The second game takes place 14 years after the first and uses the same base mechanics; with the addition of a mechanic to replace the main one from the first game. The game covers 3-4 years. You will play as the owner and principal of a private school specialising in magic. The goal, in a way, will be to test and develop a methodology.

The last game, will be a quasi empire builder. It will start a few months after the end of the second. You will play as an adviser to the monarch, as she wages war to unify the known world. The mechanics will be completely different then the first two games and the romance options will be dynastical in nature.

A project led by an "idea guy" is a red flag for a lot of people. I'd highly recommend branching into either writing, drawing, or programming if you want to make games.

In this case I think programming is a good choice. You mention some of your ideas being VNs. If you use something like Renpy VNs are quite easy to make and you should be able to handle the "programming" role yourself. Compared to an experienced programmer it will take you way longer to accomplish things, but unlike art or writing where novice/shitty work is immediately noticeable, the end users generally can't tell if it took the programmer 5min or 5hours to do something.

Thank you for your insight. I’m not sure what you mean by an “idea guy” when referring to me, but if people are seeing red flags, it might explain some things. I was starting to think I had inadvertently belittled some people.

If I was to fully cover one of the jobs it would probably be the artist. As much as I appreciate the artistry, it’s the closest thing to my currant skill set. I’ve mostly used 3ds max and a little bit of Unreal, brushing up on those skills and expanding to Maya or Daz would probably be easier. That being said, I don’t know how easy Renpy is, so maybe I can do that too.

I’ll take some of your advice, as soon as I finish the mechanics for the sci-fi game I’ll get started on the topography, cities and other assets. If by the time I finish, there’s still no artist and/or programmer that will take a chance on me and help; I’ll learn to do faces and work with Renpy.

You might want to read this:

There are plenty of articles or threads around startup culture or gamedev like "Never Team Up with the Idea Guy".

To put it simply:

- most gamers have a game idea every time they're looking for something to play. "I wish that there was a game that" is basically a game idea. Ideas are cheap and common. What sells games is execution.
- adult games are being done by tiny teams. In tiny teams people usually have more than one role, i.e. writer is also tester, or helps with coding
- if you don't have the skill to actually contribute to the project, your idea might not be that good. That's the unfortunate truth. Try writing a draft of the script, or design characters etc. , then wrap it up in simple VN. You will see if what was in your head actually makes sense AND you will be much more likely to get help if people see that you actually invested a lot of time already.

I stopped reading here, as a player i have way too many bad experiences with harem devs trying to write NTR or vice-versa just trying to grab subs from both worlds. Never start something you don't fully understand and don't have the passion for, when the sub numbers don't go up the only thing that will keep you from dropping the project is passion.. and believe me you'll need it.

As an artist i never render things that are outside of my personal interests, i would never be able to make NTR art as an anti-NTR guy, i guess the same goes for writers.

This would be my understanding of an “idea guy” too. The confusion comes in because the only game that would fall in the idea category is the first one; and that’s intentional. The first game is there so that team members can have maximum input. I did state that novices are welcome; a new writer would need to flex their imagination among other things. A new artist, develop shortcuts and tricks. I’m guessing a programmer as well. I know that shy people can become the loudest in a project, once they feel like they provide something of value. That and more is the purpose of the first game and even then the prologue is done.

The second game is an introduction to what the rest of the games are. I mean this game is pretty much done, most of the assets can be acquired for free or easily made; Some of the characters’ backstories are so rich they could be made into short kinetic VNs.

I understand the predicament. I can’t show all that I have done; as there are a lot of bad actors on the internet. While this all sounds like a familiar tune…. I mean the worst thing one can do is go back to an ex…

I know exactly what you mean. I think I played maybe one game with optional ntr that did the deflowering fetish well. That is exactly why I value that kind of diversity from the team.

In the sci-fi game, when you first get to civilisation you come across a trader that uses a slave girl as payment or a perk for a deal well made. When you go back to the village you would occasionally not see her outside. You would then get the option to go check on her, where you would see her get drilled. She might spot you and look away in shame as she clearly enjoys it. After other interactions, you would have the funds (the longer you take the more interactions) to pay for her. You would then choose; use her like the trader, keep her for yourself or provide her with a home. I would obviously pick the last option, as I wouldn’t touch that with a barge pole. Though I understand some ntr guys would be… “you enjoy a harem why can’t she.”

Intellectually, that should work, in practice however, I don’t know. That is why, if I can’t get the diversity I’m looking for I would probably give out a warning for the players. There are some twists and subverted expectations in the games, but fetishes are sacred.

I obviously can’t speak to your artistry, but a good writer has an unbelievable understanding of human behaviour; which allows them to write just about any character. The passion comes from telling a story. That’s at least how I see it and I wouldn’t consider myself a good writer, I could never do a game that was ntr only.

That being said if someone wants a unique ntr idea I suggest one reads the “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” for inspiration. Robert A. Heinlein describes the most unique marriage setup that I have ever come across, not that I know of many.

This thread ended with xj47's reply. Learn to draw, write and/or code or get a job and pay people for their work. Nobody is going to change their mind because you write a wall of text about a meme fetish.
