VN - Ren'Py - I Was a Teenage Vampire Rebuild [v0.7.6] [FatalMasterpiece]

Really exceptional. Not sure what my expectations were going in, but I'm very impressed. For a renpy VN it succeeds where most fail. The writing is good, concise and engrossing. The visual style is nice, the effort put into the music is great too. Everything comes together very well.

As I've played more and more renpy games, I think I've come to develop a bias for those which are a lot more slowburn. There's a formula to them, usually some upfront sexual content to tick a box before getting into the trenches and doing some hard but deeply rewarding narrative and character work. I can't say this game is on the level of my favorites yet, but that's only because there's not as much of it yet. It does stand out as different from the above formula, however. It weaves sexual content in more readily than those narrative heavyweights. I think it works in a setting like this, teens messing around is timeless after all.

I was deeply disappointed when the content - 0.7.6 - ended, really looking forward to more.

This game is perfect..

Playing it gives you the 80's -90's vibe. It feels like a mix of " Stranger Things " and " Teen Wolf".

The Artstyle is unique and quite refreshing. The game looks made in 3D but with a heavy filter applied that gives the art a retro look.

Music is Fantastic.. the Synthwave music really sets the mood and helps sell the retro 80's vibe.

Story isn't yet fully fleshed out and looks like still in early stages.. So, it looks a bit basic as of now.

Characters are well portrayed.. Every LI has her own personality.

Visuals are quite unique, appearing to be Daz3D but rendered with a filter on them which makes them have a sort of cell-shaded or comic book look, sort of like the old telltale style but better looking and without all the inking (black lines).

Characters all have distinct personalities which make sense and there is the beginnings of a potentially interesting plot. Some are saying that it feels too cliché, but nevertheless the level of execution is still far above the standard for AVNs.

My only point of criticism would be that the animations are quite lacking and feel a bit outdated; they could do with being upgraded with more frames or maybe frankly omitted entirely. In my opinion mediocre animations are not really any better at all than having more good stills. It's especially a shame when the character aesthetics are unique and eye-catching that the animations let the whole effort down.

Of course all of these gripes are understandable and forgivable considering its a solo dev, just wanted to give some constructive criticism.

Conclusion: Recommended with no particular reservations.

Absolutely amazing game I stumbled across with one randomly and love it...everything from the visuals, music, to the story. One of the few games I keep track of for updates. Gives a real 80s movie vibe love it

This game's aesthetic is top notch. Life's a lot cooler without smartphones and social media.
The UI, the look and feel of the game, everything is incredibly stylish.
There's a good mystery going on, a lot of interesting characters and choices to juggle, so far it's great, the only con is that I want more!

Refreshing art style and setting with characters that look like actual human beings as opposed to disproportionate monsters. Writing feels perfectly okay. Not much to say on the story yet but it's getting interesting.

If I had one gripe it's those 'flash a couple images in your face in quick succession' thingies as scene transitions and such. Why spend effort creating those renders and doing PP work if you flash them up for 0.2 seconds?

Very nice game. The art is very good, and the art style is smooth and cool. It puts this game so far of the commom use of the same models of this kind of game, it's a refreshing choice of art.

The story is interesting, and despite the fact that is hugely focused and the lewd cliches (and there's no problem with that, if you like to play a AVN with a lot of fast lewd content), it's interesting.

The girls look great and the art style is solid. Switching from Unity to Ren'Py was a smart choice, it runs smoother and fits the visual novel format better.

However, the story is weak and not very engaging. Choices in the game don’t feel important or impactful, which takes away from the experience.

Very plains and cliché stories, with the setting, could have been more better. The art style is quite refeshing, but the face is kinda werid when it comes to the scene,

The story got some typical ex-bf problem, and it will lead to connect to the richest girl in town. Could have a much interesting story with the girl name Lorie. For example, her backgound in game is she from richest family in town and she is one of three popular girls in the school. The game developer's decide to make Dan as her boyfriend is lowering her value as a possible route character.

Because Dan was like a totally maggot in game that didn't even have a chance to get in touch with Lorie, makes her very low standard on choose even playtoys or life partners, and Dan was been dumped from bf to ex-bf like next 5 mins of the game, making all this setting worthless, just to make a route that MC could really get in touch with her, there is a thousand ways to do this, but game developers decided the cheapest way to done it.

The other girl name Jodie is a total slut, makes her accomplishment very cheap, and she won't even admit she did it with a guy name Dan, the real MC in first 10 mins of the game.

The art sytle is more like comic, make using AI to rerender after the 3d render is finished. Very refreshing art style and the girl looks more charming in this art style. unfortunely the story is very plain to support this art style.

Pros:
+ Story revolves around a MC and a bunch of girls. There will be a lot of romance here.
+ Plot and dialogues are good.
+ Story is set into suburb high school settings. Expect typical tropes. If you are in a mood for good teen drama, then this game is perfect.
+ There is also this mysterious vampire subplot. So far it didnt have deep impact on the plot, but that might change soon.
Cons:
- Since story revolves around high school, then you should expect a lot of typical school cliché. Like school bullies, etc. etc.

Art and Sex stuff: 5/5
Pros:
+ Renders are good.
+ Girls are hot.
+ Sex scenes are good.
+ Story is set into 70s (or 80s) in America. So whole art style resembles that era. Renders have gone through some filter, to give it 70s ambience. Choice of soundtrack also resembles that era.
+ I really enjoyed that 70s atmosphere in the game.
Cons:
- I liked the 70s look in renders, but it might not be for everyone.

+ This is typical VN with choices.
+ Choices will mostly influence what girls you like.
+ English is decent.
+ The game has soundtrack. The soundtrack gives 70s ambience. I liked it.

- Choices dont have big impact on the gameplay. You can only influence what girls you want to have sex with.

I really enjoyed this game. After playing it I am eager to know, how the story will continue.
If you want some school drama, then this game is perfect.

This game is a gem. From the moment you start up the menu it establishes an atmosphere and it cultivates it perfectly from that point on. It's so well done it makes me nostalgic for a time that I never lived.

I was genuinely sad when the final screen popped up.

This game is real good. I like the thrill, music, 80's vibe and the best thing the dev did is turn it into renpy with non sandbox mode. When it comes to visual novel this game got that unique aesthetic.

The horror thrill of the story haven't full fledge but you'll feel it in the story, and I think the dev will take it into higher level in the next few updates.

LI's is real nice too even tho I'm into Ms. Smith type of body when it comes to LI but lot of them got good potential and story, it just matter of preference, so yeah you won't have problem when it comes of choosing a love interest.

Hopefully there will be a steam version in the future because I will surely buy this game.

This is one of the best visual novels in ages. The illustrations and the dialogue is fantastic! There's a lot of choice paths and more yet to discover so far. I can't wait for the next updates to get back into this one again.

Really like the artstyle and music choice for the game, the character designs are pretty good, I liked the MC's friends and the cast overall. Mc himself the shades are cool and funny but a bit bland. The plot is a bit slow and the scenes can be spiced up a bit otherwise looking forward to the new releases

Glad dev converted this to renpy. Always in for vampire stories. This one got unique artstyle and 80's retro themed. Love interest are beautiful and unique. Writing is good. Story is interesting. Waiting to see getting convert into vampire. Even though game is vampire themed so far there isn't much vampire scenes. Hope to see it in future. Game is going on nice pace with world building and character arcs

A great first impression, can't wait to see it developed further. My only problem is that it can be a little too grainy at times. I think it could be reduced just a little without sacrificing the artstyle or creative vision.

It's a pretty good game for what it is, there's nothing here we haven't seen before as far as the approach and structure of the game but it's done competently.

I never played the original but I might have to take a look at it.

Well what to say here ? good models good story and not so pathetic MC thats big selling point for me really and sure there some things to improve but game is new with big story for now its more than demo time really i enjoyed every second of it its so good.

Fantastic writing, and unique. This was my first experience with the game in May 2025... Really like the 80s setting and the art really matches. Love every storyline - great work. Can't wait to see where it goes.
